Cane faces Lily, Nina, Jill, and Kay confront Phillip, and Billy defends his family!
As Jill and Katherine ask Cane, at the Chancellor barbecue, how he could have deceived them, a voice says, "He didn't do it. I did!" Nina, Jill, and Katherine gasp as they see Phillip III! Katherine tells Murphy who it is, then collapses. Neil calls for an ambulance. Cane leans over Kay saying he's sorry - Murphy says he doesn't get to apologize after what he's done. Nina and Jill approach Phillip, who says he didn't mean to cause pain. The paramedics arrive and tend to Katherine. Nina calls out to Jill - Phillip has disappeared!
Billy and Mac are getting amorous on the bed in the room at the Club when their phones start ringing. Mac's call is from Esther - telling her Mrs. C is on the way to the hospital. Billy's call is from Chloe - telling him that he needs to get over to the Chancellor house - it's all a lie - Cane's a fraud!
After Katherine has been taken to the hospital, Nina and Neil quiz Cane on where Phillip has gone and how he got his blood. Cane explains, and Lily and Chloe shake their heads in disbelief. Nina says he'd better hope Katherine is alright!
At the hospital, Olivia tells Katherine, Jill, and Murphy that Kay has had another mini-stroke. Katherine says she doesn't feel all that ill. They fill Liv in on Cane's deception, and she blurts, "Oh my God! Lily!" After Liv leaves the room, Jill and Kay marvel at the appearance of Phillip. Katherine becomes agitated, yelling, "He's been dead for twenty years?!" Murphy spots Phillip hovering outside, and steps out to tell him not to go in the room - he's got a lot to answer for. Murphy calls Nina and tells her to get down there.
At the Chancellor patio, Nina takes the call from Murphy and rushes off. Cane wants to talk to Lily, but Neil doesn't want him to - he tries to get Lily to leave with him. She says she wants to hear what he has to say. Billy arrives as Cane tells her that he is from Australia and had a horrible childhood like he's always told her. He never knew his father and Langley, as Phillip is known, befriended him. Cane tells Billy that having a family really did mean everything to him. Lily confronts him about not wanting to go to Australia on their honeymoon. He says he was terrified of losing her.
Nina arrives at the hospital and is about to go off to talk with Phillip, when Jill and Kay hear their voices. Katherine orders everyone inside. Murphy mentions her blood pressure and warns them to keep it calm. As he steps out of the room, Mac arrives and he takes her off to explain. Jill tells Phillip that she watched him die. Phillip says they watched him lose consciousness, and his life as Phillip ended that day, he went to Australia. He explains that he met Cane about five years ago, and came up with a plan to help him out, and to help heal their pain about losing their son. Phillip says it had all worked out great for everyone - until now. Phillip says Cane is not a bad guy. Katherine can't believe that Phillip faked his own death. He admits that it's complicated, and the accident he 'died' in, was not actually an accident!
Still at the Chancellor house, with Neil glaring, and Billy, Chloe, and Esther watching, Cane takes Lily aside. She refuses to look at him at first. When she does, he tells her that everything he said to her - he meant - he loves her, and will always love her. Lily says she asked him just the other day if there was anything he needed to tell her - and he lied. He had so many opportunities to come clean, but he only told the truth when he was exposed. She storms off and leaves with Neil, who tells Cane to stay away from her! Billy walks up behind Cane and says, "Hey, brother!" He sucker punches him, stating, "That's from all of us!" Billy can't believe how Cane looked down on him and Chloe and lectured them! Chloe asks about the DNA testing on Delia. Cane says he went to the lab with Phillip's blood and paid a lab technician to swap with his swab sample - thinking it would get him off the hook - but he was surprised when Phillip's blood DNA matched the baby! He quickly figured out that the father was Jill's other son, Billy, but didn't pay the lab guy to change back to his swab sample because he couldn't risk having two genetic samples on record! Billy, who is livid, throws him out!
Mac tells Murphy, in the hospital waiting room, that this explains a lot - including why there was always friction between Cane and Billy. Murphy says things have sure gone haywire! Olivia approaches and tells them that the tests confirmed it was a small stroke. Mac leaves to go get her some things.
Back in Kay's hospital room, Phillip continues to explain how he felt back in the day. He says he was drinking with some colleagues at Chancellor, and left. In the car, he realized how trapped he felt in his life - with work, with marriage and a child - he felt he couldn't go on anymore. He recounts how, when he swerved purposely off the road, he suddenly experienced peace. Jill is stunned - he wanted to kill himself! Phillip woke up in the hospital and immediately began making arrangements - he paid off those who helped him. Jill says he caused them loads of pain. Phillip exclaims that he was a teenager with a life he didn't want! Katherine can't excuse him letting them suffer for twenty long years! Nina asks how he could walk away from his son - didn't he care about his own child?!
Neil comforts Lily back at his place. Devon comes in and says he got the message. Lily is crying - he asks what's wrong. She says, "Cane." Lily recalls to Neil how long he had issues with trusting Cane. Neil says he eventually came to think he was a great guy, and urges her not to beat herself up over this. Lily laments that her life, her happiness, is now all gone. Neil hugs her.
At home, Cane is on the phone with the hospital trying to find out information on Katherine. The door opens - it's Devon - there to get Lily's stuff. Cane asks him to tell Lily... Devon tells him to shut up - he's not going to tell her anything - he conned his sister and broke her heart!
Inside the Chancellor house, Chloe remarks to Esther and Billy that it was a good thing Delia was upstairs away from the commotion! Mac comes in and says that Katherine had a mini-stroke, but she seems fine. She tells them that Phillip is there too. Billy remarks that after he faces those three - he'll wish he'd stayed dead! Mac goes up to get Kay's things, and Billy and Chloe hover over Delia discussing Cane. Mac comes back down and watches as they interact as a family.
In the hospital room, Nina rages at Phillip for leaving his son, and letting him grow up thinking he was dead! Phillip says he left for the good of his son - Nina tells him he's full of crap! Phillip reiterates that he was depressed, alcoholic, and suicidal! Jill says he has a point, to which Katherine remarks, "So does she." Phillip explains that he didn't want to come to resent his son - like he already did the rest of them. He says he needs to take off for a bit. Jill asks if he's going to disappear again? Phillip says, "No." Murphy comes back into the room.
Devon returns to Neil's place with Lily's things. He sits down and puts his arm around her as she cuddles Humphrey.
Out in the hospital corridor, Phillip encounters Cane, who asks about Katherine. Phillip says she's doing better than expected. Cane then angrily asks what the heck Phillip is doing in Genoa City?!
