River causes all sorts of problems, Adam moves forward, and there's a dinner party at the Chancellor Mansion!
At home, Lauren tells Michael how proud she is that he worked so hard to free his father. He prepares to leave for the hospital. Opening the front door, he is confronted by the authorities demanding to know if he has information about where River Baldwin has gone! Michael and Lauren are stunned to hear he has escaped. As the police check the house, Lauren hisses to Michael that Eden's things are gone! They realize that they must have planned it! One of the police officers hands Michael the letter left by River in the bed. It says he is planning to go underground again! Michael goes ballistic over River's stupidity and the fact that he's now involved Eden! He slams out the door!
Eden and River meet up in an alleyway. River has an injured leg, but they agree it was great that they had this contingency plan! As Eden gives him water, she says she's just sorry they won't have a chance to say goodbye to Michael and Lauren. River says they're better off without him, but since he is going underground again, she needs to stay with Michael and Lauren. Eden flips out, begging him not to leave her. River gives in and says they need to get going.
In the Abbott Mansion, Jeffrey tells Gloria that she has made her decision - she went to help Michael, so she's chosen River! He informs her that he is packing his bags and getting out of her life! Just then, Gloria takes a call. "It's me, River." Gloria sighs. As Jeffrey rants about suitcases, Gloria tries to listen as River fills her in and begs her to come and get Eden! "I trust you with her life!" Gloria, looking up the stairs after Jeff, finally says into the phone, "Where are you?"
Over at the Chancellor Mansion, Esther serves champagne and Cane, Kay, and Jill toast to Billy being home, as they await their other invited guests. Jack and Sharon arrive, and talk turns to Jabot. Jill says Cane is doing well. Billy toasts Cane, saying that he's proof that anyone can make it to the top, and Cane toasts Billy, who might be looking for a new job! Jack takes Billy aside and thanks him for the opportunity to see the new Jabot team in action! Just then, Chloe walks in wearing a siren-red dress, and apologizing for being late! They go in to sit down for dinner. Katherine insists on telling the story of brothers Cain and Abel from the bible. Jill asks what the point is, and Kay says that brothers are always rivals, but they shouldn't let it get too serious. Cane smiles and promises that he won't if Billy won't. Billy replies, "You've got my word." After dinner, Jack tells Cane it's good to talk to the man in charge at Jabot now. Cane mentions a change in the eye care line, and Jack tells him that that was his father's creation - the cornerstone of the business! Cane apologizes, but says they need to keep up with the times. Sharon excuses herself, saying that she has to be at work at Newman tomorrow. Nearby, Billy chats lovingly with his grandmother.
In the Club dining room, Heather stops Nick, Victoria and Nikki and introduces them to the men she is with - authorities from Mexico. The Newmans confer briefly, and then excuse themselves, saying they've changed their minds about eating in the Club tonight!
Arriving at the Ranch, Adam thinks back to the forger telling him how important it is to have other handwriting samples and the same ink as in the original diary. He breaks in and starts rooting around. Before long, he hears, "Well, well, look who's here!" He turns to see Nick, Victoria and Nikki staring at him! He claims he's there to get some important files that he left, but they accuse him of snooping for Heather. Nick says they're calling the cops! Heather arrives with the police, but Nikki says they don't want to press charges, whispering to Nick that she doesn’t want to give Heather a reason to search the house. Adam and Heather leave. Victoria is upset about Adam. "I can't figure out what he was looking for!" They decide on a plan, and to let J.T. in on it as their trusted confidant. Nikki tells Vikki to thank him for her. Nikki will be staying at the Ranch.
Gloria arrives in the alleyway while Eden is asleep. Suddenly, police sirens start coming closer. River frantically wakes his daughter and tells her she has to go with Gloria. Eden cries, but Gloria tells her firmly that her safety is the best gift she can give to her father. As the sirens near, River takes off!
Michael bursts into the Abbott pool house calling out, "Bardwell!" Jeffrey comes out asking what he wants. Michael confronts him about what he said to River at the jail, and about turning him in. Jeffrey contends that he did nothing to River that he didn't deserve. Just then, Michael gets a call from Lauren. She tells him that the police have found River - they have a warehouse surrounded downtown! Michael leaves and Jeffrey goes back to packing his things, including the cream!
Gloria takes Eden to Lauren's house, where they try to get her to tell them where River has gone. Eden says she can't say. Lauren takes a call, then tells Gloria and Eden that the police have found River! Gloria calls Jeffrey, who tells her he is leaving her and hangs up. Lauren tells Gloria she did the right thing, but Gloria walks out the door stunned. Eden wonders why she'd want him back after what he did to her father!
After the party, still at the Chancellor Mansion, Cane covers Chloe up with a blanket on the couch, and says it's not an act - he's taking care of the mother of his child. Jill comes in and asks Cane to join her and Jack in the other room. Billy wanders in and needles Chloe. "You've really got the 'mom' act down pat, don't you?" She tells him that she is a mother - it's not an act! They trade barbs and he tells her she was a lot more fun before Cane knocked her up! In the other room, Cane tells Jack that the fact that Jabot was a family business sets the scene for him, and Jill and Billy, to run it the same way. Jack is put out and leaves. Esther comes in and they all realize they haven't seen Katherine for a while! Jill finds her outside and is stunned to hear her mother say she wants to hold off on dessert until Phillip gets there! Inside, Billy asks Cane to join him for a cigar. He declines, but softens it with a joke, assuring his brother that he isn't going to be like his counterpart in the story and kill him one day. Billy jokes that maybe he should be called Cain then! They laugh, but Cane looks wary!
Back at the Club, Adam tells Heather he was just trying to find something to help her case, but she reams him out a little for taking risks and breaking and entering. He then asks if she still has the letter Victor left for him when he was presumed dead. She says she does - she'll go get it! Later, the forger comes to the Club and Adam gives him the letter and some pens from the Ranch, promising he'll tell the guy just what to write!
At the Abbott Mansion, Nick, dropping a book off for Noah, is glad to hear that Sharon will be taking the job offer. Jack comes in, telling Nick that it's a good choice - no one would do a better job! Nick leaves and Jack tells Sharon that the talk about Jabot bothered him. She gives him a kiss and goes upstairs. Jack looks ponderous.
At the surrounded warehouse, the detective who called to alert Michael, tells him that he's called in the SWAT team - River has a gun and won't come out. After some persuading, the detective gives Michael five minutes to convince River to come out. Michael pushes away the bullhorn. "I'm going in!"
