The Abbott siblings gather in New York, The Newmans meet at the Ranch, Michael argues with River.
Jack and Ashley meet for breakfast in a restaurant in New York. She tells him he is up to something and she wants to know what it is! Just then, Traci arrives. Jack tells Ashley he wanted to surprise her, but Ashley narrows her eyes. "What game are we playing?" Jack concedes and tells them that there is a giant opportunity for their family. He explains that he's lined up a way for them to reclaim controlling interest in Jabot - but he'll need their proxies! He points out that John would hate what is going on with the company right now. Jack gives a heartfelt little speech about restoring it to what it was meant to be - a family business. Traci smiles, but Ashley regards him with obvious skepticism!
As Cane holds a meeting at Jabot, Jill walks in. "I'm back!" She tells Cane to carry on, but he looks distinctly uncomfortable. He finishes and dismisses the staff. Cane then tries to tell Jill that he wasn't expecting this. She says she just came to make some suggestions. He asks testily if she is planning on sitting in on every staff meeting. She says she is - he has a lot to learn. She then mentions that he should have checked with her before launching a new line. Cane says that Katherine thinks he's doing a good job. He tells Jill that he respects her opinion, but she hired him to do a job, and she should back off and let him do it!
At the Ranch, Nick and Nikki look after Zapato and remark on the filth of the house. Victoria walks in with a stack of mail. Nick spies the letter he left for his father - it's unopened. Nick is angry, but Nikki and Vikki try to tell him not to take it personally - he hasn't read any of his mail. Nikki points out that if he wants him to ever read the letter, they'll have to find him first. Nick tells Nikki that he wants to ask Michael what he knows, but he can't get a hold of him - it seems a little suspicious!
At Crimson Lights, Jeff tells Gloria now that her ex is out of the picture they can concentrate on the takeover of Jabot. Gloria tells him that she is meeting Katherine later for her to sign over 5% of her stock. She also tells him that River didn't get extradited to Michigan. Jeff remarks on how Gloria protected him when Michael confronted him. "That's true love, baby!" He warns her though, that while lying for him is great, lying to him is a bad idea! Gloria heads out to get her nails done. Katherine walks in and Jeffrey tells her that she's made his wife a happy woman by agreeing to sell her 5% of her Jabot stock, but Katherine says she doesn't know what he's talking about - she told Gloria 'no'!
At Lauren and Michael's house, Lauren tries to get Eden motivated to head to school. She points out that Michael kept his end of the bargain. Eden begins to cry, "I don't know how to do this." Lauren is stunned as she realizes that Eden has never been to school before! Eden begs Lauren not to send her. She tells her that 'material world' kids are weird and different. "It's going to be a disaster!" Lauren says she'll show her how to handle it. She suggests she spread the word that she can get them 10% off at Fenmore's - she'll have more best friends than she knows what to do with! Eden smiles, but then asks what she should do if they find out who her father is. Lauren tells her it will be fine - she's smart and pretty. She just needs to take it one day at a time. Eden agrees to go, but not with 'that dorky backpack'! Lauren laughs and they leave.
Michael visits River at the prison. River surprises his son by telling him that he appreciates what he is doing for Eden, but he doesn't want him to represent him! Michael is irked. "Do you think it was easy to get your case transferred? I was up half the night calling in favors." River says it shouldn't be so difficult - he's innocent. He informs his son that he won't plead guilty, even to a lesser charge. He tells Michael that he can take the case on one condition. "I need to know that you believe I'm innocent." Michael rolls his eyes and says that doesn't matter. River points out that Dick Dentner believed him - and he could relate to him. Michael gets angry, telling River that the court will not relate to him. As River protests, Michael tries to explain that honestly telling the story doesn't matter - it doesn't matter if he shoved flowers down gun barrels - if he lets Dentner represent him he'll end up dying in prison! River insists that they're fighting for a cause, but Michael cuts him off - telling him to forget all that if he wants to get out for his daughter and not abandon her! River muses, "You mean the way I abandoned you." Michael remarks that, to him, the decision is clear! But River still doesn't agree, so Michael leaves, telling him he doesn't need a lawyer - he needs a shrink!
Jeffrey arrives at the Abbott Mansion and discovers Gloria hiding out in the living room. He says he thought it was clear that he didn't want her lying to him. He says Katherine told him about the stock! Gloria admits that she lied - she said she had to tell Jack something to keep him on board - and she also didn't want Jeff to be disappointed in her!
Michael arrives home. Lauren hears the door bang shut and comes out to see how it went. Michael vents about River. Lauren tries to settle him down, telling him that he obviously cares very much - he has a big heart. Just then, Michael takes a call from Nick wanting to know where Victor is. Michael tells him it's a confidentiality issue, but he can tell him that Victor is safe and is exactly where he wants to be. When Michael gets off of the phone, Lauren brings Fen out and talk turns back to River. Michael explains to his wife that he begged River to let him represent him. Lauren urges him to believe in River's innocence and to keep trying to get through to him. "This could be the start of your healing. Don't let it slip away."
Back at the Ranch, Nick hangs up and tells Vikki and his mother what Michael has said. Victor's children want to go find him, but Nikki insists that they need to give Victor what he wants and leave him alone! Victoria continues to clean around the Ranch. She comes across the sketch of Sabrina and the ultrasound photo of the baby. Nikki walks over and looks - she says she still feels terrible about that. Victoria says, "I know, Mom. I do too." Nick comes back into the room and they all commiserate about how much pain Victor must be in and how scared they are for him. They head out, and Nick takes Zapato. He stops at the door and goes back inside to leave the letter on the end table.
Katherine comes into Jill's office at Jabot. Jill vents about Cane, but Katherine says he's doing a great job - and Jill's only upset that she can't control him! "You've been a pain in my butt for years, Jill, complaining about me controlling you. Now you're getting what's coming to you!" Kay notes that payback stinks, and walks out! Jill comes out of her office and finds Cane. She tells him that she may have overstepped and mentions Katherine, but he blows her off and tells her that he wants no part of her issues with her mother!
Just as Ashley is telling Jack that if he insists on being so secretive, she'll have to say 'no', and Traci agrees, Jack says there is someone who might be able to change their minds - Billy walks in! Ashley and Traci are tickled to see him and Jack laughs as Billy calls out in mock desperation for coffee!
At Crimson Lights, Katherine has another 'senior moment', asking how the Carmen Mesta investigation is going, which is witnessed by Jeffrey and Gloria. When she leaves, they both agree that this could work to their advantage! Lauren breezes through and finds Eden sitting at a table. Eden explains that she cut school because there was a lot of talk about how they caught her dad and it upset her. Lauren tells her to 'come on' and they leave.
Michael is playing alone with Fen at home when River calls. He says he's reconsidered - he'd like Michael to represent him after all. Michael says he'll come down there soon to get started. When he hangs up he's visibly elated!
Victor is on a jet. He takes a call from the pilot telling him that they are preparing to land!
