Nick surprises Jack, Victor sets parameters, Adam asks Heather to move.
At the Ranch, Victor confers with a security guard he has hired to keep people away. He explains that there is a list of people who may come and go who live on the property, but no one is to get near the main house.
Nikki arrives at Victoria's house, complaining about the new guards at the gate. Victoria tells her about Neil's offer to her, but explains that she is reluctant because she doesn't yet know what Nick would think. Nikki says she is impressed with Vikki's sensitivity toward her brother's feelings. Victoria says she wants the position, but doesn't want Nick to feel left out. Nikki says she has a suggestion. Victoria calls Nick and gets his approval. J.T. comes home, Nikki leaves, and Victoria tells J.T. that her father did something really wonderful for her!
At the tackhouse, Phyllis tries to make Nick see the bright side of losing Restless Style. She points out that they'll have seed money for a new venture, and they won't have to look at Jack's mug anymore! When she comments about Sharon though, Nick says she is just stuck in the middle! Phyllis says if Sharon sides with Jack when he does the things he does, she is equally responsible. Nick notes that Sharon may be tearing him a new one in private! Just then, Michael arrives. He says he is delivering an envelope from Victor. He doesn't know what's in it, but Victor wanted Nick to have it right away! Michael leaves, and Phyllis asks if it's ticking. They smile at one another. Phyllis answers the phone as Nick opens the envelope. It's Victoria, so Nick takes the call. She tells him about Neil's offer and he urges her to take the job. She thanks him and they hang up. Phyllis says, "Victoria got rehired at Newman?" Nick smiles, "Miracle every minute." He hands her the letter that was in the envelope. She asks, "What does this mean?"
At Restless Style, Jack and Sharon discuss buying Nick out. Jack is sure he won't come up with the money. He points out that Victor won't help him - he's just publicly cut off his family! Sharon thinks back to her request to Victor to help Nick. When she snaps back to the present, she asks Jack to please not gloat when he buys Nick out.
Michael arrives at the Ranch and goes through the security detail. Victor explains that he's not taking any chances after last night. He doesn't explain what happened, however. He informs Michael that from now on if his children want to speak to him, they can do so through him. Michael asks if that includes Adam. Victor says no, he's persona non grata! Victor says that after what he pulled while he was gone, they have no obligation to him. He explains to Michael that he will have little contact with him. Michael asks if Victor is going somewhere, but Vic says he will be just staying there alone - in peace!
In bed, Heather and Adam discuss what his next move should be. Adam says maybe he should pack his things and go back to New York. She says she assumed last night that they had decided to stay together. He says he'd find a position there and be much happier. She tells him that long-distance relationships never work! He tells her that she misunderstood - he wants her to come with him! She angrily tells him she has a good job in GC - if he leaves town, it's over! She urges him to try and talk to Victor again.
As Nick and Phyllis arrive at Restless Style, Sharon hisses at Jack to remember his promise not to gloat. Jack asks if Nick is ready to move on, but Nick pulls out a check and says he's buying him out! Jack smirks, "This will bounce like a fat man on a trampoline!" Nick shows him the letter from Victor and says that the check is good. Jack shakes his head, "Daddy Victor!" Jack says he's surprised that Victor didn't balk at the price. Nick admits that he never told him the price - he never spoke to him! They all look at Phyllis, who says she hasn't seen Victor in weeks. Sharon says Victor has a way of knowing what's going on! Noah comes in and Nick tells him that they've just bought Jack out. As Jack leaves in a funk, Sharon explains to Noah that Jack is upset because Victor helped Nick buy him out. Noah says to his mother, "You had that private talk with Grandpa the other day. Is that why Jack lost the magazine?" Sharon admits that she did talk to Victor, but taking the magazine away from Jack wasn't part of the plan. Noah notes that her plan must have backfired! He promises not to tell Jack!
Adam arrives at the Ranch and is stopped by the security guard. Michael tells the guy to let Adam in - he'll take full responsibility. Michael goes over to the office door and knocks, hollering that Adam is there and wants a word with him. There is no response. Adam pushes Michael aside and starts knocking and talking to the door. He tells him he has no job and was just trying to make him proud! Adam becomes agitated as he gets no response. The security guard throws him out. Victor calls out to Michael to never let that boy come to the house again. Michael agrees, and says he is leaving. He asks if there is anyone he is planning to stay close to. Victor tells him he will contact him when he needs him, and responds no further!
Paul and Heather meet up at the Club and she starts wondering aloud why Victor did all the things he has done since Sabrina's death, like burying his things at her grave site. She also wonders why the Mexican authorities haven't contacted anyone in Genoa City! She tells her father that she has decided to do some digging!
Jack meets up with Nikki at the coffee house. Jack tells her point blank that someone needs to look out for Victor's interests - if his faculties aren't what they should be, someone needs to step in and freeze his assets and put him under psychiatric care so that no one can take advantage! He urges her, as someone who loves him, to act quickly! Nikki regards him for a moment before shrewdly replying, "If only someone had stepped in and frozen his assets before he gave that money to Nicholas, you wouldn't have gotten screwed!" Jack deflates. "Shut up and drink your tea." Jack tells her he has a list of questions a mile long about what happened in sunny Mexico - and when he finds out, magazine or no magazine - he'll tell the world! Nikki calls him a sore loser, and he tells her she looks gorgeous! Jack leaves and Paul comes in. He warns her that people are starting to ask serious questions about what Victor was doing in Mexico. She thanks him and tries to get Victor on the phone.
At home, J.T. and Victoria discuss Nick and Nikki. She tells him that she is glad Nick called and told her about the magazine, and that Nikki seems to be doing okay. She asks him to promise to keep an eye on her dad. J.T. agrees. She smiles and says things are starting to feel like normal again. Victoria tells him that Nikki moved out that morning, and they start to kiss.
At the tackhouse, Nick suggests to Phyllis that they do a nice piece on Sabrina to make up for the article that Jack wrote about her. Phyllis tries to gently tell him that even though what Jack did was wrong, he sold magazines. She notes that Nick's gesture is wonderful, but they don't want the magazine to go under. She tells him she believes in him - sometimes even more than he does in himself, but a tribute to Sabrina isn't going to sell. They need someone for the cover who will create 'buzz'. She suggests that he jump on what Jack created, but Nick protests that he wants the magazine to be more of the original concept. Phyllis notes that she has a huge stake in this too, and she won't just stand by and nod her head at everything he suggests - like Sharon does with Jack. "I have opinions and I'm going to state them!"
Jack turns up at Heather's room at the Club. Adam has returned there and Heather excuses herself so they can talk privately. Jack tells Adam he wonders if he is interested in bringing Victor down. He fills him in on Victoria being back at Newman, and Victor providing the money for Nick to buy him out. "What did daddy give you?" Adam states, "I'm in."
At the Ranch, Victor unplugs the ringing telephone and gazes at the sketch of Sabrina, while patting Zapato on the head.
