Neil is shocked by Adam's actions, Devon gives Ana advice, Nikki and Nick are stopped from leaving Mexico!
In the Mexican bar, Nikki holds her head in her hands. Nick arrives and they embrace. She squeaks, "He's gone. Your father is gone." Nikki laments losing her sobriety, and Nick tells her it is understandable under the circumstances. He wants to take her home, but she refuses to go. "I'm not leaving your father at the bottom of the ocean!" Nick promises that he'll find him and bring him home. As an official informs them that a death certificate has been issued, Nick tries to convince Nikki to go home. Soon, he puts her on the phone with Victoria, who he had previously left a message regarding their mother's state of mind. Nikki cries, "Victoria?" Victoria tells her mother that her sobriety is important and she is strong - she needs to listen to Nick and go home. Nikki protests that she wants to stay. Victoria says everything will be fine, but she asks Nikki to go to Genoa City and look after Victor's interests there - she'll see her when she gets back from Dubai! As Nikki and Nick prepare to leave the bar, the bartender gets a phone call. He stops them. "They've found a body. You can't leave. You have to identify the body!"
At Newman Enterprises, Adam enters Victor's office and sighs deeply before venturing over to try out the chair behind the desk. Michael comes in and smirks at Adam. He jibes Adam about not getting too comfy in Victor's chair, but Adam informs him that his father is dead and he will be making some changes around Newman! He says he's going to honor his father by shaping up this company. Michael warns that the will doesn't go into effect until there is a death certificate issued. Adam produces one. Michael is very upset and tells Adam to at least take a breath before trying to take over the company. Adam says he has, and now things move on. Michael notes that Adam is obviously overcome with grief! Adam reminds "Mr. Baldwin" that he now works for him! Michael slams out as Neil is coming in. He questions some decisions Adam has signed off on. Neil suggests that Adam consult with Victoria. Adam shows him the death certificate and tells Neil that in light of Victor's death there are going to be some changes around here. Neil is stunned, but Adam carries on, declaring that he is now running the business. Neil says he thinks they need to take time, but Adam disagrees. As Neil raises his voice to Adam, the young Mr. Newman suddenly tells Neil that since he has chosen to disrespect him, he is relieved of his duties!
At City Hall, Cane and Chloe are in wedding garb awaiting the arrival of someone who can perform a civil ceremony. She remarks that he hasn't said anything to her all morning. She tries to get him to play rock, paper, scissors. Cane, however, has no sense of humor. She tells him it's not a funeral home, and he says he feels like it is! She retorts that it's not her dream wedding either, but she's trying to make the best of it! She asks him to at least pretend he can stand her, but he turns and rages, "If I didn't think you'd take off with the child, I'd put you on a plane and hope to never see your face again!" Chloe begins to cry and he begrudgingly offers her a tissue. She tells Cane that her father left her mom before she was even born, and that growing up, her mom was always too busy working to pay her much attention. She goes on to tell him about a stuffed animal that kept her company. Cane murmurs that he had a kangaroo. She smiles, and tells him that one day she came home and her mother had redone her bedroom and gotten rid of her 'security'. Cane asks if she ever got it back. She says she didn't get it back, but more importantly, it confirmed that she was a complete stranger to her own mother. She declares that they must never let their baby feel like that - ever! Soon, the official arrives and asks to see their marriage license. Cane reaches into his pocket to get it, but stops as he remembers proposing to Lily.
At Devon's place, he tells Lily that Ana told Tyra that she wants to live with him. Lily asks why he's whispering and he says that Ana is still asleep in the other room. He confides in Lily that he thinks the best idea is for Ana to go to the art school. Suddenly Ana appears. "Don't send me away, Devon!" He explains that music school might be the best thing for her. Lily reminds her that she loved and trusted Tyra before things changed, and that now, things will only be different if she let's it be. Lily and Devon sing the praises of beautiful New Hampshire. Ana asks Devon why he doesn't want his sister close by, but he says it's because she is his sister that he wants her to go! He reminds Ana that she is always talking about wanting to be a big star - this is her big chance! Lily likens it to her modeling and Ana listens. Devon promises that he will always be in her life. Ana says Devon has the whole music thing going on and he didn't have to go to school for it! Devon reminds her that he was going to quit school recently - and he was wrong. He promises to stay in school in Genoa City if she goes to New Hampshire. She says it would mean she'd have to leave tomorrow, but she agrees.
In the hallway at Newman, Neil, Michael, and Karen compare notes on Adam. They are stunned to hear that Adam fired Neil. Michael states that this whole thing is a slap at Victoria and Nick, not a well thought out plan for the company! Neil declares that he may be fired - but he isn't going anywhere! As Karen and Neil move away, Adam catches up to Michael and urges him to get the reading of the will done quickly. Michael glares, and tells him that he is a consummate professional, but warns that there might be some 'glitches'. Adam asks what he means and Michael tells him he just might contest the will on the grounds that Victor wasn't of sound mind, and/or that Adam pressured Victor to change the will! Adam warns he won't get his fee, but Michael assures him that some things are worth more than money!
Neil and Karen talk in the break room. She urges Neil to talk to Michael about how he can fight Adam on this! She says she is going to quit too, but Neil asks her not to do that. Adam comes in and Neil tells him that he'll give him one more chance. "Because, kid, you need me!" Adam responds by telling Neil to get out or he'll have him escorted out by security. Karen steps up to Adam and really let's him have it! She defends Neil, calling Adam a punk wannabe who will never be able to fill Victor's shoes! When she finishes by quitting her job as well, Adam smirks, saying that he isn't surprised, and tells them both to pack their things! Adam leaves and Michael reappears, they all discuss how clueless Adam is about what Victor was really about. Adam soon comes up the hall with a security guard and has him escort Neil and Karen out of the building. Michael says, "Wait for me, I suddenly have a need for fresh air."
At home, Cane and Chloe make tense small talk. Before he heads off to work, he tells her she is right, he did want to marry Lily, but this child is going to have love, and have everything that they never had - that's why he went through with marrying her!

Phyllis tells Sharon to stop obsessing over her husband. "You're not married to him anymore!"
In Mexico, Nick is shown a picture of the body. Nikki asks, "Is it him?"
