Newman Brothers Showdown! Thursday, August 07 2008

Nick and Adam disagree, Jana spills the beans, Cane asks Lily an important question.

Paul, J.T., Victoria and Nick are at the Ranch conducting a thorough investigation as to Victor's whereabouts. They come up empty. Just then, Adam comes in and says there's been no sign of him at work. Suddenly Paul hollers, "I may have something!" He indicates that Victor's safe is unlocked. They all worry that his disappearance may be the result of foul play - after all, David was involved with the mob! Adam feels that Victor took what was in the safe and left under his own steam. J.T. says they need to assume for now that he is in trouble.

Katherine is visiting Nikki. She fills her in on Victor canceling the funeral and having a private burial for Sabrina. Nikki is stunned. Suddenly Katherine asks Nikki, "Did you fall off the wagon last night?" Nikki tells Katherine no, and that last night she took David's ashes and put them in their proper place. Katherine gives her a questioning look, and Nikki further explains that she found a pile of horse manure that was just right! Katherine breaks into laughter! They turn to discussing how David's gambling problem has affected the Jabot stock. Nikki insists that she accept her resignation. Katherine says she will, but with reluctance.

Cane stands on his porch with Neil who says he is surprised Lily hasn't contacted him to tell him about the marriage proposal yet. "Did something go wrong?" On the other side of the door, Lily and Chloe sit at a laptop researching methods of DNA testing a fetus in the womb. At the sight of a large needle, Chloe balks, but Lily insists she is going to do it! Outside, Cane makes an excuse about why he hasn't proposed to Lily yet and Neil leaves. Cane goes back inside and lies to Lily that it was a salesman at the door. He makes the call about the DNA testing. Chloe tells them to be prepared to be wrong, and Lily retorts that she should prepare to be found out! The DNA man arrives and takes a sample from Cane and a vile of blood from a queasy Chloe. He tells them that the results will only take a few days. Cane asks if the lab is secure as he gives Chloe the hairy eyeball. When the man is gone, Chloe gloats that she has no doubt the daddy is Cane. "Daddy Cane, Sugar Daddy Cane," she singsongs. Lily throws her out! Lily and Cane then relax with some takeout and wine, and things lighten up. Cane gives her a fortune cookie to open. She is stunned to find an engagement ring inside. "Marry me," he growls. Lily laughs, "Yes! Yes!"

At the Ashland County lock-up, Michael and Kevin are shown in to the area where Lowell Baldwin will be brought out to meet them. Michael tries to change his mind and leave, and a scuffle ensues between he and Kevin. Soon a man is lead out by the guards. Michael asks, "Do you know who I am?" The man says obviously he is his son. "It's been a long time." Michael starts asking questions and Lowell explains that when he left, he was running away from the war, not Michael and his mother. He apologizes for not being there. Michael asks what Gloria was like back in the day. When Lowell hesitates, Michael asks, "Don't tell me you can't remember your own sister?" Lowell laughs, "Of course I can! Hell of a sister, that Gloria!" Michael grabs him. "I don't know who you are, but you're not Lowell Baldwin!" The man comes clean, telling Michael that his father is still alive - they actually switched identities, and the real Lowell is going by the name Richard Gerick. The inmate tells Michael his dad was 'genius-smart'. The guy apologizes for lying earlier, and says that Michael's father remembered him, and talked about him often. Michael gets up and leaves.

Neil turns up at the Ranch, right behind Jana who has brought some flowers and wants to take them to where Sabrina is buried. Jana suggests that Victoria go to Sabrina's grave too. Victoria sees her out, then asks Paul, "What if dad has done something to himself?" He replies that anything is possible. Victoria and J.T. leave, and Nick suggests that they call in the FBI. Adam disagrees because then the media will be alerted. Nick says that's good, then everyone will be looking for him! Adam says that kind of publicity may only make things worse - like the Sabrina article. Nick calls him a little punk and an opportunist. Adam says Nick is just jealous of him - probably because Victor wrote him out of the will! Nick is shocked to hear this, but he tells him the money doesn't mean anything to him. He accuses Adam of trying to protect stock prices by not reporting Victor missing. Adam says he is protecting the business, like Victor would! Nick says with his father, family comes first. Adam rages, "Hey, I am family!" The pair go at each other physically until Neil and Paul break it up!

As Jana kneels by Sabrina's grave, Victoria and J.T. join her. Jana tells Victoria that their kind of friendship was rare. Vikki thanks Jana for being kind to Sabrina - and to her. Jana suggests that Victoria tell Sabrina how much she misses her. Victoria kneels down and tells Sabrina that she is sorry that she didn't share in her happiness with her, and that she was so caught up in her own selfishness. Victoria says it was no wonder her father loved her - who wouldn't! J.T. kneels down beside Vikki and she asks him if he thinks Sabrina can hear her, and knows that she was her best friend ever, and that she'll never forget her. J.T. says, "She knows."

Victoria and J.T. show up back at the Ranch and Nick tells them that they missed the Newman brothers showdown! He fills Vikki in on them being written out of the will and she admits that she already knew. Nick agrees to accompany Vikki to tell their mother about what is going on with Victor.

At Crimson Lights, Jana is pouring over Ashram wedding stuff when Chloe bops over. She declares that she is getting married too! Jana is puzzled, but Chloe explains that it's a given once the paternity test proves that Cane is the father of her baby!

Sitting at the counter in the coffee house, Neil tells Adam that in light of Victor's disappearance he will need him to take the lead in several areas at the company. Adam shakes his head. "Neil, that isn't going to happen." He then informs a stunned Neil that he will be taking the lead in all areas. He condescends to Neil that although he has an excellent service record and is very loyal, he is not a Newman, therefore it is not his place to run the company in Victor's absence. "I will, and I'll accept whatever responsibility that brings." With that, he gets up and leaves! Jana comes over and marvels at Neil's calm. He says panicking won't help find Victor. Jana says she didn't mean that - she meant about Lily, and Chloe's baby! By the look on his face, she realizes he didn't know. In true Jana form she says quickly, "Chloe's pregnant and Cane may be the father. Gotta' go!"

Outside the prison, Michael rubs his hands over his face in disappointment. Kevin pipes up that now they start looking for Richard Gerick! Michael notes that he's supposedly brilliant, which means they are looking for a high-functioning sociopath!

Nick and Victoria have arrived to tell Nikki and Katherine about Victor's disappearance. Nikki is stunned, but Katherine is not too surprised - Victor always takes off when there is a crisis. He'll be his old self when he returns. Nikki says it's a long shot, but maybe he'll answer his cell phone to her. But her call goes unanswered because the cell phone is ringing in Sabrina's grave!

Brad tries to entice Jack and Sharon with the idea of doing a hot expose on Jill Abbott. Jack replies, "We're listening."

Paul proffers a baggie to Nikki. "We've found Victor's cell phone, his wallet, and his epilepsy medicine." Nikki gasps, "Oh my God!"

Phyllis asks her husband what is wrong and he responds by saying, "I'm going to go kick Jack's butt!"
