The gala begins: Victor prepares an announcement, Phyllis spills to Michael, David drugs Nikki, Chloe has news for Cane.
In their new home, Cane pockets his ring and teases Lily. He wonders if she worries about Chloe. She's sure they can handle anything crazy Chloe throws at them.
At Restless Style, Nick and Phyllis announce that they don't want Jack going to the gala. He reminds them that Victor blames them as well so maybe they shouldn't go. An order for a third run of the magazine comes in. Jack smirks and walks off. Amber and Chloe worry about Daniel. Chloe offers to give her a make-over and run interference for her at the gala.
At Crimson Lights, Daniel wonders how many people heard he and Amber on the radio last night. He doesn't want to show his face in public. Kevin tells him that he has to come to the gala with him tonight; they can avoid "you know who" together. Meanwhile, Heather runs into Paul outside. She has the box of Ji Min's things but hasn't been able to figure anything out. She asks is he can put a fresh set of eyes on it. He agrees and she happily leaves the box and rushes off to the gala.
At the club, Nikki comes down the stairs to David. She agrees to put up a front for the gala. He wishes she would give their marriage another chance. That won't happen. She just wants to get this over with.
At the ranch, Victor tells Sabrina she looks stunning. She can't wait for the gala to be over. He hands her some new topaz earrings and gives her a tender kiss. He wants to announce her pregnancy. She worries that the news could devastate Victoria and Nick. Victor insists that she deserves the recognition coming to her.
Victor runs into Katherine at the gala. He says he will announce Sabrina's pregnancy tomorrow so the family will realize how important she is. "Are you going to be a better father this time around?" she asks. He says he'll ignore that question. He thinks it's the children who have failed him. She suggests that he has a selective memory. He jokes about her mothering deficiencies. She laughs until they spot Nikki and David arriving. After sniping at David, Victor is pulled away by Sabrina. Nikki turns around and Victoria pops up and begins passing her compliments. JT and David try to be civil until Chow walks off. JT wanders away to get a drink. Victoria wonders if her mother has gotten back with David. Nikki insists it's only an act. She just wants to get through tonight.
Cane greets his mother and grandmother and asks if they can keep a secret. Katherine guesses that he is proposing. They're thrilled. Lily isn't Amber, Jill comments. Katherine speaks up for Amber, suggesting she's getting better. On cue, Amber and Chloe arrive. The blond reminds her friend that she's there to protect her. "Great! So who's going to protect me from you," Daniel remarks as he and Kevin walk by them.
Heather and Adam chat. He gossips about David but she says nothing and gives him a kiss. Victor walks over and asks to speak to his son alone. He tells him that he has an announcement tomorrow and he needs to be at the ranch. They discuss David. Adam explains that he's arranged for a story run on David on the news tonight.
Sharon kisses Jack and tells him that he's a genius for creating so much buzz. "Not everyone feels that way unfortunately," he says, looking across the room at Nick, Phyllis, Michael and Lauren. Michael probes Nick for the reasons why he would publish an article he knew would infuriate his father. Nick doesn't want to talk. Phyllis blurts out that Jack rewrote the article. Nick says Jack going behind his back won't happen again. Victoria wanders over and Michael and Lauren leave to mingle. Victoria tells her brother that she won't stay on the ranch if he's not there. He tells her not to be ridiculous. She's sure that Sabrina has been working Victor, scoring points by telling him to keep the family together.
Kevin tells Daniel to stop staring over at Amber. "I'm not," he says, downing a glass and staring over. Meanwhile, Amber tells Chloe that she wants to get away. Chloe stares at Cane and wonders whether Lily is wearing a ring. Amber tells her to stop stalking.
Katherine offers Nikki an upcoming job chairing an event. Nikki doesn't even know where she will be a year from now. David interrupts and takes her away. Victor spots this and strolls over to JT, asking why Chow is still free. He orders JT to throw him out if he touches Nikki. JT calls Paul. He explains that he's found a picture of Ji Min and Walter but is waiting for the uncropped version to see what was going on.
Katherine sneaks up on Amber and asks her if she will reconcile with Daniel. Amber doubts it and has decided to move back to LA. Katherine doesn't think she should run off to LA and let Phyllis win.
Lily and Cane spot Chloe and run. Chloe grabs a drink, bumping into Heather and spilling hers. Adam asks Heather out to the balcony for a private conversation.
David tries to be friendly to Brad and Jill. They confront him about his gambling and ask him to resign. He insists he's done nothing wrong and threatens to tell the board "everything" if they force him. Victoria takes David away to speak. Jill asks Brad if there's something she should know. "Would you like to see my phone records?" he offers. She declines. Victoria calls David up to speak to the gala. He announces that they have exceeded their fundraising goals.
At the club, Gloria looks forward to the day when she will be majority shareholder at Jabot. Then Jill can be her secretary. Jeff tells her to wait. She doesn't want to go to the boring gala; Jill has already told everyone that she is no longer an executive, just a receptionist. She continues to worry about the face cream. He teases her and tells her that she's worth millions. They spot David on the TV and have the volume turned up. They hear that he's lost huge sums gambling. They realize this could mean the stock might take a nose dive. That means they could buy it up even easier. "I could own the whole damn place!" she smiles. They get excited and decide to skip the party. As they walk out, it's announced on the TV that Skye has gone missing.
Back at the gala, Victor announces to his children that he wants them all to come to the ranch tomorrow. They make excuses. He says this is the last time he will ever ask anything of them.
Heather goes outside to get a shawl from her car and spots Walter. He sees her staring at him. When she returns to meet with Adam, they step back outside. Adam slips inside for a minute and Walter approaches her. Meanwhile, David gets a call confirming that Nikki's life insurance policy has just been activated. He goes inside and asks her to leave with him. She says it will have to wait. He pours her a drink and drugs it. He follows her, handing her the glass and telling her that he never deserved a remarkable woman like her. He asks to make a final toast to her.
Nick drifts over to Sharon, she gushes about Jack's ideas. He thinks they need to rein Jack in. Meanwhile, Jack is congratulating Sabrina on the success of the gala. He tells her not to blame anyone else for what's happened and confesses to what he did, saying there was nothing personal in it. "You can throw all the mud you want at me, but the person you truly hurt is Nick," she says.
Cane takes Lily into a corner and tells her that tonight is the most important night of his life. Chloe hunts them down. He tells her to go away. She blurts out that she is pregnant and he's the father.
