Agreeing Lovers.

Tuesday, July 22 2008
Jeffrey returns with news for Gloria, Sabrina urges Victor to reconsider, Nikki tells David they're over.

Bardwell arrives at the club and Gloria leaps into his arms. She gives him a kiss and asks where the cream is. He couldn't find it or his ex. They sit down and he explains that he looked everywhere without luck. "You're very resourceful, find her," she demands. He doesn't think his ex would be interested in it and likely chucked it away. "Trust me, we don't need your son and we don't need the cream," he says. She needs an explanation. He made a pit stop in the Cayman Islands and set up an offshore company called "Agreeing Lovers", an anagram for "Gloria's revenge". She likes that. They can use the company to buy up Jabot and won't need Michael's help. She kisses him for being so "loving and devious". Before they can hurry off to bed, she leaves for the powder room. While she's gone, she calls and checks into his story before returning and taking him home.

"Who is Angelo Sarafini?" Nikki demands as she meets David at the club. He confesses that it is his real name; he's been lying to her about who he is. They sit and he explains that he grew up around a lot of organized crime. He was only ever into petty stuff but realized that he wanted something else for himself. She's still furious and accuses him of lying as easily as he breathes. He claims that he was only ashamed. She feels stupid. David accuses Paul of making him look sinister. He tells her of his hellish childhood and suggests that she should understand why he would turn his back on it. He claims he has only been trying to protect her from his past. She can't hate him for what he's done, but she's lost track of how many chances she's given him. "It's over," she says, walking away.

At Crimson Lights, Paul is on the phone hunting down information on Walter. He tells JT what he's found and they decide to try and track down some old mob photos that may feature David.

At the ranch, Nick drops off the keys to the tack house. He tells his father that he is being heartless for denying his own grandchild the only home they've ever known. Victor tells him he has no right to talk when he's been riding on his coat tails his whole life. Nick points out that he's gone into business for himself. Victor dismisses this; he's cold and turns his back.

Jill and Brad sit at the conference table at Jabot. He tells her that David has a gambling problem. She says they need to handle this internally. "I'll bet Nikki and David would do anything to keep this quiet," she says. They decide to hunt for evidence. Heather knocks and comes in to pick up Ji Min's things so she can continue searching for clues in his case. Brad walks out and Heather tells Jill that she wants to get Ji Min some justice.

In the corridor, Brad asks Heather to get him David's telephone records. After he wanders away, Adam approaches to do some personal business with her. She leaves to take care of something while he waits. Jill spots him and isn't pleased. He's only there to ask Heather out, he insists. Jill stomps off after Heather returns. Adam asks her to the gala. As he exits, Nikki arrives, advising Heather to think twice about getting involved with a Newman. Heather sorts through the box of Ji Min's things and stares at a photo of he and another man.

Nick returns to the tack house and tells Phyllis that they are definitely moving out. Phyllis wishes he would just lay the blame on Jack. Nick says he won't and doesn't need to explain anything to his father after what he's said. He starts to pack, insisting that he will be better off out of his father's life. "It's gotta be killing you?" she prods. He ignores her and continues to pack. She puts the baby to sleep and he is eager to finish packing and start searching for a new place. She doesn't think he should just walk away and let his father force him from this place and his feelings for it. He remembers learning to ride his bike on this land and making his father proud. "I'm going to miss this place," he concludes. She offers to talk to Victor. "He's a lost cause," Nick says. She hugs him. He wonders if he has been riding his father's coat tails his whole life. Maybe this will be a blessing in disguise, he suggests. Phyllis reminds him they'll never be totally free of his father. They have wine and talk about how exciting their new life can be.

JT and Paul meet with his contact. He tells them how dangerous David's associates really are.

Nikki is sitting in her office when David arrives. He reminds her that he still works there. She says that won't be for long. He argues that news of their split would take away focus at the gala and bring down Victor's spite. She agrees to put the divorce off until after the gala. He walks out and calls a contact, begging for some quick money.

Back at the ranch, Sabrina comes downstairs. She asks Victor if Nick came by to apologize. He tells her she gives him too much credit: He's moving out. Victor explains that his son is no longer allowed on any of his properties. She's shocked. He tells her that Nick has shown enormous disrespect to him over the years, even betraying him to the government. He says that maybe he should have spent more time with his children, but he didn't have time and thinks they've come back for revenge. She suggests there must be another way to handle this. He serves them tea. She asks him if he will do something like this to their child if he upsets him in the future. He says he won't and is amazed by how forgiving she is. Nick is part of him and always will be, she says. She knows how affectionate and tender he can be and how he must have been to Nick as a child; she urges him to remember that. He remembers how much his son has disrespected and betrayed him. "The biggest betrayal is for you to turn your back on your son," she says, begging him not to do this.

As the day moves on, Victor stares out the window and thinks. Sabrina interrupts his ruminations. He tells her how lucky he feels to have another chance at fatherhood. He's finally realized that family is more important than success and money. She tells him he should reach out to the family he already has. She gets a call about the gala. Before leaving, she tells him that he is a kind soul underneath it all and asks him again to do the right thing. After she leaves to get ready, Adam walks in and tells his father that Brad and Jill have been digging into David's past and will try to keep it secret. They decide this would be a good time to go public.

Later, Sabrina asks Adam to talk to his father. He turns her down, saying it's none of his business. She accuses him of refusing out of self-interest and suggests that Victoria and Nick's loss won't necessarily be his gain.

Victor goes down to his son's door and announces that he and his family can stay. "I don't want to stay. We're moving," Nick says. "You have it your way," Victor grumbles. Nick shuts the door on him.

At Jabot, Brad and Jill start sorting through David's phone records. He points to a number, knowing that it is David's bookie. He plays dumb about it and suggests she call it. She tries and gets an insult when she uses David's name. She and Brad walk into the corridor. She hands her files off to Heather and orders her to put all the Chow information together. She and Brad summarize the situation and decide that this gives them a good chance to get rid of Nikki and David together.
