There's Hardly a Family Left.

Friday, July 18 2008
Victor throws his children out of his will, Paul gets a break, Sharon decides to accept Jack for who he is.

At Restless Style, everyone is doing damage control. Nick glares over at Jack for being so smug. Phyllis is afraid their website will crash because it's getting too many hits. An order for more copies comes in because they've sold out. Nick stops Jack from going ahead with publishing more, saying they need to discuss this first. It's too late: The next printing has already started. Nick and Jack bark at each other and split up. Victoria quickly corners Jack about using her words out of context but he shrugs it off.

Later that day, Sharon leaves and Phyllis asks Jack why he was lying to his wife. It doesn't seem like he really thought the ramifications of this stunt through. Jack is sure they are legally protected from Victor. Phyllis reminds him that Victor doesn't care about the law.

At the ranch, Sabrina tries to write a letter to Victoria. Victor reads the letter and tells her how sorry he is about all of this. He offers to call some journalists and sort this out. She doesn't want a family fight in the press. "There's hardly a family left," he sighs. Their family will just be them and the baby. They embrace. She has a nap. When she wakes up, he has a new idea: Announcing the happy news about the baby. She wants to keep it quiet. He offers to fly her anywhere in the world. She reminds him that they have to show a proud face. After she hurries off to work, he calls Michael. He wants to slap the magazine with a lawsuit. After hanging up, his son walks in and tells him that he has pulled all of Newman's advertising from the magazine. They are both hunting for Adrian and Victor wants all of the other advertisers contacted and dealt with.

David and Nikki return to her office after visiting their new house. He's thrilled. She says he's worth the commitment. They sign the paperwork and he takes a picture of them with his phone.

At Crimson Lights, Paul sorts through a pile of mail. He discovers a letter from David's ex-step daughter and shows it to JT. "I'll work to my dying day to prove you killed my mother," they read. The letters don't seem suicidal and were mailed locally so David must have gotten it the day she died. They mull over their options and JT decides to leave. Paul notices David across the room and sits down with him. Paul tells him he just wants to see that Nikki is safe. David tells him he's kicking his gambling habit and his future is with Nikki.

Karen and Neil stop by Indigo. He just wants to check in with Tyra to see how things are going. He's confident she can look after things, he tells Karen, so that means they should have more time together. At a table, Ana shows her new shoes to Devon and then to Karen. Ana thanks Karen again for helping her with her fear of singing. All of this attention seems to make Tyra uncomfortable. Ana sings them a song she learned at church. JT walks in and tells her how great she is. Neil introduces him to Tyra and they leave to put together a new security system.

Sabrina and Jana meet at Crimson Lights. Jana talks about the article but Sabrina wants to concentrate on work. A reporter interrupts but Jana chases him out. Other reporters still mill around. Nick comes in to apologize to his mother-in-law, saying that the article was not the one he approved. She thinks he did this out of resentment and refuses to listen to any excuses. She walks out and a reporter follows. "You set this in motion so, Nicholas, be prepared to reap the consequences," Jana says.

Michael arrives at the ranch. Victor announces that he will lay a libel suit on the magazine and bury them in legal fees. He wants everything in the article checked. Michael leaves to get to work. Adam tells his father that Nikki likely won't withdraw her ads from the magazine. Victor threatens to bury everyone who doesn't. Michael soon returns after setting all the fact checkers to work. Victor asks his son to leave and tells Michael he wants to change his will. The children he raised have betrayed him. Michael encourages him to talk to them and think it over. Victor doesn't need to think: He wants the will changed now. Nick and Victoria are completely pushed out of the will. He calls in some servants to witness him signing the document.

Victoria chats with her mother on the phone before running into Sabrina at the club. She apologizes for everything but Sabrina doesn't accept it. A reporter ducks behinds them and takes pictures as Sabrina lays into her. Victoria accuses her of lying since she came to Genoa City. Sabrina thinks Victoria and her brother just can't stand to see their father happy.

At Crimson Lights, Jana and Adam talk about the mess with the magazine. He tells her that his father trusts Sabrina completely. After he walks off, she gets her Ouija board out again. "Will Sabrina and Victor have a long and happy life together?" she queries. It answers "Goodbye".

Victoria goes to see her mother in her office. Nikki tells her she needs to get out of the line of fire. Victoria is sure it's too late for that. Nikki begins gushing about the estate she just bought. Her daughter thinks she's crazy to be doing this with David but Nikki is confident she has everything under control.

Nick returns to Restless Style. Phyllis is the only one still at work. He tells her how mad he is at Jack. He's already set up a meeting with his banker to find a way to get Jack out of the magazine. When that doesn't go well they weigh other options.

Jack returns home and calls for Sharon. A call comes in and he happily tells the caller that the next few issues will be more of the same. Sharon hears this and isn't happy. He apologizes. She says he's been lying since the beginning of their relationship. She feels like a cliche: A woman who married a man thinking he can change... but this is who he is and has always been. He makes promises, but, she says, they are meaningless. "I've gotta stop fighting against the real Jack Abbott," she says. What they have is worth fighting for and she won't leave him; she'll just have to accept him for who he is. "I'm not going to make any mote promises," he says, relieved. They hug. She gets them wine to celebrate the magazine. He wants to celebrate her instead. They toast to their future.

Adam sits at the bar of the club and leaves a message for Skye. Sabrina joins him. He tells her that they've pulled all of the advertising from the magazine. She's impressed. He asks her how much of the story is actually true

Nick arrives at the ranch late and Victor is waiting up for him. He tells him to get his bags and get out.

Walter calls David as he returns to the club. David tells him he's no longer interested. "I'm done," he insists, hanging up.

Back at Crimson Lights, Paul continues to sort through his files when he discovers something. Calling JT, he says that he's finally found David's true identity.

Next on The Young and the Restless:

Victor tells his daughter that he's cut her out of the will.

"David Chow equals Angelo Serafini," Nikki says.

Cane tells Neil that he's done something important, maybe the most important thing he's ever done.

Why does everyone else have to understand and accept Victor and Sabrina, when they don't have to have understanding for them? It's not all about their feelings, they have impact on people who are blood. There have been a half a dozen Sabrina's, and there will be more. Victor easily replaces his women, too often. And he changes his will almost as often. He thinks everyone should listen to him, and follow his orders. But he is never willing to do the same. He is never a two way street.
Morticia and Gomez have spoken.
Give me a break.

i have a feeling that they are going to make nikki and victor look like complete idiots by showing that the people they married are bad and fool of secrets. i will be mad if they make sabrina some BIG LIAR before her time is up.

if anything, nikki should be the only one that should be humiliated. she is the one that cheated on victor with david and would not shut up about how great he is compared to victor. now that he is leaving, we will find out how bad he really is.

it will be so bad if the same goes for sabrina. sabrina in my book has done nothing wrong and for the possibilites of alot of dirty secrets about her to be revealed before she leaves the show is so STUPID! victor did nothing but try to move on from nikki and he fell in love with another woman. and this is what he gets for trying to make a new life.

it will be very stupid to put nikki and victor back together once their spouses are gone. they dont belong together EVER again! i have feeling that is where the writers are headed...both nikki and victor will be so devesated about their spouses gone that they will realize that they both made mistakes and then get closer and fall in love again. that equals STUPID, OVERDONE storyline! please dont let that happen!

I have been watching Y & R since it began. For the show to be successful, it cannot change what made it successful, otherwise the fans will not like or relate to it.
First of all, what man in his right mind would cut his children out of his will because of Sabrina. After all they were a part of his life all of these years and contributed some kind of way. I could see it, if his kids were not a part of his life, but they were positively.
Victor is a control freak and will never relinquish his controlling attitude because of a defective character flaw about his childhood. He needs to grow up. It is natural for children to make mistakes, young adults too. Look at the many mistakes older people, especially older men have made trying to recapture their long lost youth(which will never every be recaptured from someone in half a year, which nothing in common), but this shows how foolish Victor and the writers are. SO, what they said something about his new bride or help write about her, thanks to Jack , so what. Look at how Victor and Nikki and most of the older people have gone from men to men and women to women, DO you love her that much and quickly, that you would forget all of the history with your children? If so, you need to be taken down a peg of two. As far as affairs, Victoria knows more about Sabrina than he does. He thinks she is too good to be true. Well, that is usually the case, it is. But, like my daughter told her jealous step mom, she would always be her father's child and nothing could destroy that. She told her he could sign some papers and she is gone. That shut her up, because she came first and it is a different kind of love.

That storyline is about as bad as Victor becoming an invalid with a dog. Victor is ruthless, but he is being depicted as a man who lived with his children all of their life and will kick them out because they have their own thoughts. He should not kick them out of his home either. They did not disrespect him, they are trying to fly. Their father's ranch is huge, why not live there. Victor needs to realize that his children is his legacy and that is something that new wives should never come between. Victor is behaving horribly. This according to this storyline is how Victor acquired his wealth. Walking and taking down anyone who disagrees with him, even his children. Y & R have taken a new low.
They need to concentrate on the young and restless and not so much on the old and foolish. The old should be ambitious on the job, not with their children. They can connive all day on business deals, but do not let them tear families down completely. especially the old and foolish.
Sabrina does not fit the profile of Y& R, but David does in another capacity.
Victoria is not whining, Sabrina is cooing like a teenager in love. As a matter of fact, the younger couples do not act like that.

But good riddance to Sabrina and David.

also,

why is it bad for victor to cut his children out of HIS will that has HIS money and HIS assets!? yes, victor states over and over that he cares about his family....BUT do his family treat him the same way???

what has victor done wrong?....he fired nick because nick didnt beleive him when accused of ji mins murder. THAT is why nick is mad at victor and started crapless style...because victor fired him! nick has betrayed victor many times especially when he turned him into the authorities. has victor done anything like that to nick?

then victoria quit because she couldnt stand the fact that victor was doing favors for adam (who by the way just lost his mother). seriously, victoria couldnt take that she was wasnt being babied and pampered that she quit! as for nikki, she made her path by going with david so i dont feel sorry for her there. Victor has given victoria everything in her life and that is how she acts?

so ya Victor is a one way street....if you dont care for him the way he cares for you then your on your own! besides, victor is controllig and ruthless when it comes to BUSINESS but his brats take it PERSONALLY!!!

as i recall, victor wanted victoria to live when she was in a coma and nick and nikki wanted her dead in hopes that the PREMATURE baby might live. now victoria is siding with the same people that would have rather seen her dead. victor made the right call...victoria could always have more children.

Victor is going to be made a fool of when he finds out the art that he's paid all this great money for are nothing but fakes. His lady love was pulling the wool over his eyes.

I loved the spoiler of the Gala on youtube! it looks like David is riding in the car not driving. Maybe he's in the car with Walter and maybe Sabrina is feeling sick and leaves the Gala early and they get in a wreck with each other. I wonder who Victoria is crying for. She certainly was no big fan of David or Sabrina!

They better not have her all sad once Sabrina is gone. My heart was breaking for Victor in that preview and even though I'm no big fan of Nicki I'm sure it will break for her too.

Lots of talk today about Victor's cutting of ties.

The issues between Victor, Nikki, Vix nad Nick are starting to get as old and worn as the conflicts in the Middle East. No one can remember who started it. It's become a big tit-for-tat. Let's see:

Victor writes (adult) kids out of will because he doesn't feel respected.
- by Vix, for her getting mad that he got involved with her BFF
- by Nick, for joining forces with Jack and creating RS
- by Adumb, for hooking up with Heather, the former ADA who brought murder charges against him
- because Vix and Nick seem to "approve" of mom's remarriage, and he doesn't feel they've got the same love in his direction.

On the other hand...
- Sab and Dad had opportunities to go public that they didn't take (whether or not plans to go public were aborted due to feeling it "wasn't the right time to tell") and outright lied about what they were doing to keep their romance under wraps (Victor's trip to LA, etc)
- Nick built RS by borrowing against his trust fund - money set aside by Victor for use in Nick's adult lifetime that was legitimately NICK'S to spend!
- Even though Nikki knew that Victor was supporting Jack's senate campaign in hopes of seeing him crash, Nikki eventually felt that that was wrong and decided to run for Senate herself... her husband refused to support her or even see her as a legitimate candidate and refused to be available to her emotionally. When he decided to skip town in search of "bad people" that VJ had gotten involved with (BTW - are we ever going to go THERE again?!?!), and not really seeming to care what happened with Nick was aboard the Newman jet that was sabotaged, Nikki accepted the friendship offered by David, which she then allowed to turn into more because she felt abandoned by her husband.

So who started what? And who's right? And who's wrong? They ALL acted stupidly. Admit your indiscretions and move on!

Although I am happy that Nick will be finding a new place to live... living on Dad's property was getting rather lame anyway!

Victor reminds me more and more of Donald Trump without the comb-over and lousy TV show. He's already put the boots to Nick from the Ranch (in a way makes twisted sense since both Slick and syPhyllis live there somewhere). What next...do the same to Victoria and JT? JT had nothing to do with the magazine, but Victoria is quoted within and appears on the cover. One would have to wonder if JT would be the next Jabot or Chancellor employee. Even Adam is on somewhat thin ice with Heather being his better half...if Victor is trying to estrange everyone, he's certainly going about it the right way!

Speaking of quotations...if Victor is having people fact-check the article, wouldn't he come to find out what the others did? Jack, for all his arrogance, at least got this part right.

Don't care much about the Cane/Lily/Slow-ee storyline. Get the pregnancy out in the open, cause some fireworks, and get on with it...there are far more entertaining things they can do. Same with the tainted cream...let Barfwell just turn in Bug-eyes to the cops and disappear. Enough with that! Next issue of Restless Defile...oh wait....there might not be a next issue. if there is, it'll probably be as thin as a stack of toilet paper...you know how many ads are in those fashion rags!

Can we remove Jana from the storylines for a while? I'm starting to get bad flashbacks about my ex, Ouija board and all.

I am a new member and I am a true fan of Y&R. I, my mom and many friends have been watching for years and years. However, what has happen lately has really upset us all. How can you put Cane with Cloe of all people!!!! This is such an over kill. In the last two weeks, Ive seen the same story line on several different soaps. Why can't the story line read, "The Good Girl DOES Get the GUY? OMG,Pregnant?, Cloe? Cane and Lilly are finally happy. Please reconsider changing this. My heart is breaking because we will have to start watching something else at that time.
P.S. Everything thing else on the show is WONDERFUL!!
except for that one thing.

First and foremost Victor does not have to include Nick and Victoria in his will particularly since a "Trust" has been set-up. Secondly, Victor tried to warn Nick about going into business with Jack for the very reason he is having trouble now. Secondly, so what if Sabrina found love with Victor after a failed romance with another. How many people have divorced and fond love soon after? To me Nikki and David's love affair didn't make any sense and Nick and Victoria allowed her as an adult freedom of choice. The whole Nikki/Victor returning to one another is so played out! Thirdly, I respectfully disagree with those who could not accept the Sabrina character. She brought a different element to the Newman clan and wasn't given a chance to unfold and grow. The last few show have shown just how she could add a whole new dimension to the show, particularly her budding friendship with Nikki's confidant Catherine Chancellor.

Years ago, it had been implied Victor has a vasectomy but never really confirmed and just maybe it didn't take, so what's the problem with the storyline? If the show is going to continue on for years to come, wouldn't a young Newman help the chances rather than just grandchildren of Victor? I don't see Abby becoming involved with the Newman family. For all intense purposes she's Brad's child. I rather see Sabrina and Victor have a son and Victor raise him to conduct business just as he has so in the future when he becomes an adult in five years, he can fight with Summer and Noah over the Newman's interest. Unless the writer's marry off Adam and he has children. That would be something, Adam is more like Victor than Nick.

Anyway, soap opera no longer offer escapism from my daily grind as they once did. This new generation of writer's are completely out of the old tradition of writer's. I often wonder would Y&R be heading in the most erratic direction if William Bell was still alive!
