Michael hires Paul and gets some shocking results, Nikki gives David the cold shoulder, Neil grills Tyra!
At the Abbott Mansion, Gloria encounters Sharon who is overseeing the renovations. She asks for a small statue that Sharon is planning to get rid of. Jack comes downstairs and has a moment's hesitation over the renovation. He assures Sharon that he'll get over it.
David arrives at Jabot and assures Nikki that he is going to do everything he can to be the man who she married. Nikki, however, treats him curtly and excuses herself. They all meet up in the conference room, and it comes to light that David didn't complete the expected work. Nikki doesn't back him up. After he leaves, Jill asks Nikki if there is a problem between the two of them. Nikki denies anything is wrong, then gives Gloria grief when she comes in late. Jill comes out and lays into Gloria as well, threatening to fire her if she makes the slightest mistake. Gloria smiles, and once alone, says, "You may have the power, but I've got the guy!"
Neil turns up at Lily's place and asks if Tyra and Ana got to the hotel okay last night. She says they did, and that Devon is gone to pick them up. Neil says he is wondering why suddenly, out of nowhere, they have dropped in on his kid! Lily questions him and he says he's just being cautious. Just then, Devon comes in with Tyra and Ana. Lily and Ana go to the kitchen and Neil asks Tyra how long they are planning on staying. Tyra says long enough to spend some time with Devon. When she leaves the room, Neil asks Devon if Tyra ever visited him when he was in the group home. Devon becomes defensive, and when Tyra comes back into the room, Neil tells her he will take her and Ana for breakfast - he wants to get to know her better! After they leave, Lily and Devon discuss how Neil thinks Tyra is like his mother. Devon says you can see that Tyra has her head on straight. Devon tells her he has a picnic planned with Tyra and Ana and he wants to videotape his little cousin singing. Lily smiles, "You're happy that they're here aren't you?"
At Restless Style, Phyllis informs Nick that they had way too many unsold copies of the last issue of the magazine. He says coming up with a new marketing plan will be easy - convincing their partners to go along with it will be the hard part! Amber comes in wearing an "Amber Original", Phyllis's eyebrows go up. She tells Amber that she got an email from Daniel - he's in Barcelona having a great time. Amber says she got a static-y voice mail from him too. Jack and Sharon arrive and a brief disagreement ensues about the future direction of the magazine, before Jack leaves to take a meeting. Sharon sits down beside Phyllis and notes that she agrees with everything that Nick says! Phyllis counters that Sharon agrees with everything that Jack says! Sharon says Phyllis and Nick are too geared toward the younger crowd and Phyllis says Sharon and Jack are too focused on the older crowd! Nick comes back into the room and asks Sharon what she is sending Noah at camp. Suddenly, Sharon comes up with an idea inspired by one of the magazines she buys for Noah - and animated spokesmodel on the ezine that will promote the magazine! Nick likes the idea and Phyllis says it has potential! As they wonder who to use as the spokesmodel, Amber cries out, "Katy Perry just sent me an autographed CD!" They all turn and look at her. "Amber!" Phyllis tells Nick and Sharon that they are crazy to consider her! Sharon accuses Phyllis of being against Amber because she is living with her son. Phyllis denies it. Nick and Sharon outvote Phyllis, who says that she will be talking to Jack!
At the Club, Lauren asks a yawning Michael what time he finally came to bed. He sighs and admits that he was up reading his grandmother's diary again. He declares that he is ready to start looking for his father. Lauren warns that it will be difficult emotionally. Michael tells her that he is hiring Paul to help, and keeping it a secret from Gloria! Paul arrives and Michael tells him that the trail runs cold after Lowell got arrested in Michigan. David wanders into the dining room and Paul intercepts him, warning David that he has his eye on him and he will be looking out for Nikki!
In her office, Nikki sits with tears in her eyes, thinking about the situation with David. Gloria comes in with a tea for her. She scoffs at the way Jill treats everyone, and tells Nikki to let her know if there is any way she can help. When Glo returns to her desk, Jack wanders in. "Well, well. Looks like Jabot hired a new receptionist!" Gloria lies that she is just filling in, but soon admits the truth and gets him a coffee! Nikki meets Jack in the conference room and he notes that being there brings back a lot of memories. Jill comes in and Jack says it's nice that she is honoring his father's legacy by hiring Gloria! Jill suggests that he offer her a job. Jack sits down and looks around the room. He fantasizes that he is at the helm of Jabot once again! Suddenly, Nikki and Jill interrupt his reverie. After Jack has left, Gloria takes a call from David looking for Nikki. Gloria remains on the line as David tells Nikki that he has a meeting that afternoon, and Nikki says he should move the meeting to Jabot because she doesn't trust him anymore!
At Indigo, breakfast is finished, and Neil sends Ana off to the kitchen so he can talk to Tyra. Neil asks if she has had contact with Yolanda recently. Tyra tells Neil that she stayed with them for awhile, but started using again and had to leave. She asks Neil if he is wondering if she is like her sister. Neil says he's just concerned about Devon. Tyra says becoming a mother changed her - she has held the same job for the past 10 years and takes good care of Ana. Neil is impressed. When Ana returns, she asks if she can play the piano. They listen as she plays some music, and Tyra tells him, "That's my world, that's what I care about." Neil nods. Lily and Devon wander in. Neil tells Lily he feels better about Tyra after speaking with her, but admits he still isn't sure if he trusts her. Lily warns that if he acts suspicious of Devon's relatives it may make Devon think that no one in his birth family is any good! Neil marvels at the wisdom of his 21 year old daughter!
Jack returns to Restless Style with a signed contract from Jabot. They fill him in on the idea about Amber being a spokesmodel, and Jack thinks it's a fabulous idea! Nick speaks to Phyllis alone and tells her it's not a big deal. She tells him he should have backed her in a situation like this. He says he knows Sharon rubs her the wrong way, as does Amber, and if it were anything other than business, he would have sided with her! Nearby, Jack admits to Sharon that he really misses Jabot.
In the Club dining room, Paul watches David heading upstairs, before he joins Lauren and Michael at a table. He tells them a search of the State data base turned up a man by the name of River Baldwin. Michael is skeptical, but Paul tells Michael that he was born in New Orleans, just like Lowell, and that they share the same social security number! Lauren says, "So River is Michael's father?!" Paul clears his throat and tells them there is bad news. "River Baldwin is wanted for murder!"
