An angry and disappointed Adrian lashes out! The Newman children hear an announcement that stuns them. David sinks deeper into trouble.
At the Art Gallery, a stunned Sabrina accepts Victor's proposal of marriage! As he places the gorgeous engagement ring on her finger, they both admire it. She tells him that the ring is perfect. He says he knew the first time he looked at her that she was special. She worries about his children's reaction. He then informs her that they are celebrating and will make their announcement proudly together to everyone!
At home, Colleen is packed and her flights are booked to leave for China that night. Adrian comes in and says it's convenient that she is going off to hide after ruining his life! Suddenly the phone rings and Adrian answers. When he hangs up, he informs Colleen that that was his agent - the book is dead! She wants to comfort him, but he strongly suggests that Colleen go to say goodbye to her friends. Colleen heads down to Crimson Lights and tells a relieved Kevin that the publisher has dropped the book. He is overjoyed, but Colleen reminds him that it's not so great for Adrian. Kevin notices that Colleen is very melancholy.
At Jabot, Victoria proposes an idea and Brad irks her by suggesting that he and Cane run with it. Nikki sides with Brad and says she has something else in mind for Victoria anyway! Meanwhile, David gets a call from his bookie that he lost big time on the bet! David is livid and throws the telephone across the room! After the meeting Jill turns up and asks Brad how it went. He fills her in and then takes a call from the bookie. He is very pleased that David lost big! Meanwhile, over at Restless Style, everyone gets a look at the new logo. Jack tells everyone that Jamie will be stopping by with further suggestions and he and Nick start to bicker about the time-line for making changes! As Nick looks for 'the book', Phyllis reminds him that Jamie has it. When he barks about it, Jack accuses him of being like Victor. Nick is truly offended! Just then, Victor calls for Nick and says he needs to see him right away - it can't wait! Nick calls his sister at Jabot and learns that she too has been summoned to the Ranch! As Vikki hangs up, Nikki asks what is going on. Victoria promises to fill her in afterward. Later, in the Jabot conference room, Nikki shows Lily a mock-up of her cover photo for Restless Style magazine. Lily is very pleased and asks to take it to show her dad! Meanwhile, at Restless Style, Jamie Whitfield has arrived and informs the staff that one way they can save the first issue is to dump that cover model Lily Winters! Phyllis asks for clarification and Jamie explains that if you look at all the top magazines they feature well-known models or celebrities! Jamie assures them it is not impossible to change the cover at this late date! Phyllis wonders where they will find a suitable replacement and Jack suddenly says he has an idea! Back over at Jabot, Colleen turns up to say goodbye to her father. They share an embrace. Out in the hallway, a jumpy David runs into Nikki. He senses something is wrong and she tells him she is wondering what is going on with Victor.
Out at the Ranch, when all his children are assembled in front of him. Victor announces that he has made a decision which affects all of them. "Sabrina and I are engaged." Victoria's face is a picture of shock! Nick asks when this happened and Victoria says it was so fast. Victor replies that he asked Sabrina this morning. Adam blurts out that it's sure a nice rock on her finger and Sabrina replies that she would have accepted a ring from a bubble gum machine! Nick offers congratulations and they all make excuses to leave quickly. Victor tells Sabrina not to be discouraged by their reactions. Outside, Nick wonders to Victoria if Sabrina is after their father's money. They agree that they hope he asks her to sign a pre-nup! Nick then asks if Nikki knows about this and Victoria says she'll have to tell her when she gets back to Jabot! Later, Adam caustically congratulates Sabrina for setting a speed record in getting that ring on her finger! He says he'll give them their space and check into a hotel. She says he's welcome to stay there, but he then blurts, "C'mon Sabrina. A lady wouldn't have accepted." She wonders how he came to be the way he is when his mother was supposedly so nice, and he quickly warns her not to go there! Later, Victor comes in and tells Sabrina he'll need to postpone their celebration, she quietly agrees.
At Jabot, Brad finds David and Nikki in the conference room and asks to speak to David alone. He gives him a deposit slip for Colleen's account and asks him to put his first payment there so she has money for China. David informs him that he can't make the payment. Brad asks if he is digging himself a deeper hole. David denies that he's gambling and assures Brad he'll make the first payment next week. Victoria comes back and stuns Nikki by telling her that Victor plans to marry Sabrina! Vikki wants to know how her mother really feels about it deep down! Later, David encounters a mixed-up Nikki. He is surprised when she suggests having a smaller wedding, and having it much sooner than August! David replies, "You have no idea how glad I am to hear you say that!"
Back at Crimson Lights, Colleen meets up with Lily, who tells her it will be difficult being away from each other for six weeks! Colleen then tells Lily about the book being killed. Lily asks if they are breaking up over it and Colleen admits that she's not sure. She also tells her friend that she didn't like the way he talked down to her through this whole thing! Lily bids Colleen goodbye and urges her not to worry about Adrian too much - he does love her. Back at home, Adrian thinks back to when Colleen agreed to help him write the book. Just then, the phone rings and Adrian's agent informs him that no other publishers are interested in the book. When Colleen comes through the door, an angry and devastated Adrian tells her that there is no longer hope for his book and that means no tenure. "But hey, as long as you're really sorry, I guess it's okay." She says she is truly sorry, but a sarcastic Adrian won't hear it. Just then, Brad arrives to take Colleen to the airport. Adrian congratulates 'tag-team Carlton' on a job well done. Colleen ushers her father out the door and turns back to Adrian. Tearfully, she says goodbye, leaving him sitting on the sofa with his head in his hands.
At Restless Style, as Jamie starts complaining about the fonts they're using, Jack runs in and says they've got a line on model Samantha Cresswell for the cover! Jamie is impressed and Jack makes the decision, in Nick's absence to stop the presses on the cover! When Nick arrives, Jack bravely tells him the cover has been scrapped! Nick says this is all insane! Phyllis tries to calm him by saying that Jack is going to cover the costs and Samantha Cresswell will be great! Nick says that is not the point - they are supposed to be partners and Jack made a major decision without him! Nearby, Jack commiserates with Sharon about Nick being upset. When Sharon points out that Nick has always been pushed around by Victor, Jack says they have too much money invested in this magazine to be concerned with Nick's daddy issues!
