Restless Day at Restless Style!

Thursday, May 08 2008
As the debut of the first issue nears, tensions run a little high at the magazine. Daniel makes a move. Michael meets with Brad Carlton.

At Restless Style, Sharon and Nick pass the phone as they speak to Noah. The room is a buzz of activity as the launch of the first issue nears. Jack suggests to Phyllis that the website is not 'restless' enough - he tells her he can get Jamie Whitfield, a retired fashion magazine mogul to take a look at it. Phyllis says that sounds good. Just then, Victoria stops by and tells her brother that working at Jabot is good, except for having to work with Brad! She then breaks the news that Nikki and David have set a wedding date. Back over at the computer, Sharon and Phyllis debate about writers. Jack suggests they get both writers to do a piece, then they'll run the best one! At Restless Style, everyone is arguing over having a blue or fuchsia call-out, when Jack walks in with Jamie Whitfield, who is laughing at their ideas! Jack introduces her to the dubious group. Whitfield tells them she is there to 'save them from themselves"! As the fab four sit down to meet with Jamie Whitfield, Victoria, preparing to leave, takes the proof of the Jabot ad with her to show Nikki. As Nick walks Vikki to the elevator, she advises him to listen to Jamie Whitfield. He cringes, but agrees. Over in the meeting area, Sharon gushes about being a big fan of Jamie's work and Amber rushes to get the woman coffee!

As Nikki and David dine at the Club, Nikki spots Victor and Sabrina at the bar area. She approaches and greets Sabrina graciously before asking her ex for a word alone. They go aside, and Nikki demands to know what's going on with Victoria - why is he pushing his children away?! He tells her that she is interpreting the events wrong, and that is typical. Nikki tells him she pushed Victoria out! Victor explains that she was offered her old position back and she didn't want it. She tells him that he obviously favored Adam. She then calls him on deciding he wanted Victoria's friend Sabrina and just taking her! She tells him he is pathetic! She stalks away as Victor is still sputtering at her! He then orders a shot of Tequila! Later, Nikki and David happen upon Adam. She asks why he isn't out celebrating having gotten rid of Victoria! He tells her he truly believes she was an asset at Newman! David leers at Adam, "You must really think you've hit the jackpot!" Nikki pipes up, "What would your mother think?" Adam, smiling in David's direction, replies, "My mother would tell me to be honest about everything!" Adam then says that the truth is that Newman has suffered an enormous loss by Victoria resigning. Nikki refuses to believe his sincerity and he tells them he no longer wishes to have this conversation. After they leave, he seems upset.

At Crimson Lights, Colleen tells Kevin that she and Adrian had a major fight about the book and he has gone to see her father! Kevin suggests she call and warn Brad. As she dials the number, Adrian arrives in Brad's office at Jabot and says, "I believe you have something that belongs to me." Brad holds up the book. "You must mean this." Back at the coffee house, Michael has arrived and is chatting with Kevin. Colleen comes over and asks Jana about her job, and Kevin whisks Michael away. He tells him, "It's Adrian Korbel's book - you've got to kill it!" In the meantime, Adrian gets into it with Brad over the book. Adrian claims that the story needs to be told! Brad takes a deep breath and says he would like time to read it. Adrian says he'll send him a copy when it publishes. Brad glares and throws him the advanced copy he has been holding in his hand. Adrian curtly says, "Thank you." Back at Crimson Lights, Michael asks if Kevin has read the book. He admits he hasn't, but says Colleen has and it goes into detail about Carmen's murder. He pleads with Michael to kill the book, so Jana's life and her new job won't be affected. Michael says there is nothing he can do, but Kevin begs for his help. Michael then receives a call from Brad Carlton!

Michael arrives at Jabot to meet with Brad, who tries to hire him on the spot. Michael says Brad can afford his retainer, but he'd hate to see him waste his money! He explains that he knows all about the book through Kevin. Back at Crimson Lights, Kevin tells Colleen that Michael told him that if everything in the book is true - there isn't much he can do! Meanwhile, Amber rushes in to talk to Jana. She says she just met Jamie Whitfield! She then admits to Jana that she asked Daniel to move in with her, but he hasn't really replied to her. Jana says men can be a bit thick. At that exact moment, at Restless Style, Daniel asks Phyllis if she will give him an extra key to the Penthouse - Amber asked him to move in and he wants to surprise her. Phyllis makes a face, but eventually gives him the key! Nearby, Jamie is getting into it with Sharon about making changes to the look of the magazine. Jamie hollers at Sharon that she is so green! Phyllis tries to jump in and tell Jamie that they'll make the changes, but Sharon continues to resist. Jamie accuses Sharon of wanting to go home to a comfortable bed rather than do the work that needs to be done! Sharon glares and Jamie jumps up and takes Jack aside. She tells him that they are making numerous blunders and mistakes! She says that he should have called her much sooner! Jack sighs. Back at the coffeehouse, Jana and Kevin discuss how happy she is, and he worries that it is all going to come to an end with Adrian's book. Over at Jabot, Michael asks Brad to show him the book. Brad tells him he gave it back to Korbel to keep him off his back, but then asks Michael to wait a moment! At home, Adrian tells Colleen smugly that her father gave him back the book, and that he told Brad he would send him a copy of the book when it's published. Colleen is surprised. Back at Jabot, Brad presents Michael with 'his' photocopy of the book. Michael grins about the copyright infringement. Brad says Michael should look at the red circled items - they are all inaccuracies! He tells Michael to make sure the publisher knows that they have the resources to drag this through court eternally. "This book will never see the light of day!"

At home at the Newman Ranch, Victor tells Sabrina that something came in the mail. He presents her with a gift-wrapped box. She opens it to find an original Barbie doll from 1959. She is thrilled as he explains he knew about her collection from back when she and Victoria were in Florence together. He tells her he loves her, and she says she is sorry that this love came at such a high price. He replies that anything worth having comes with a cost. Meanwhile, at their home, Nikki is also presented with a gift from David - brochures for them to choose their honeymoon! They gleefully discuss possible places to travel. Back at the Ranch, Sabrina heads up to bed, and Victor gets on the phone to confirm a 'delivery' to the gallery the following day at a specific time. Meantime, Adam sits working on his laptop at the Club as Victoria walks by. He tells her that he hopes her new job works out. She informs him that she is on her way home to her family, and says she hopes he enjoys his work. After she leaves, Adam calls Victor and leaves a message accepting his offer to move into the Ranch!

Later that evening, Amber arrives home to find Daniel on the sofa with her late-night programming ready to go! She is really happy and jumps onto the sofa beside him as he grins! Back at Restless Style, Phyllis and Sharon see Jamie out. After the elevator door closes, Phyllis and Sharon are finally on the same page, as they agree that they'd like the woman's car to take her to Canada! Meanwhile, Nick and Jack are meeting. Jack warns Nick that if they don't make the changes that Jamie suggests, there may not be a second issue!

Next on The Young and the Restless

Victor tells Sabrina that he has asked Adam to move into the Ranch!

Adrian tells Colleen that he needs to decide for himself, and she needs to decide for herself!

Nikki and Victor have another run-in at the Club!

I think that Victor's kids have every right to be upset at him. He doesn't act very fatherly.
In fact he is fine with the separation of him and his family for the "love" (after a few weeks) of Victoria's best friend.
Nikki was right, he saw, he wanted, he took. No consideration as to how his daughter would feel. He has no love for her, not the other way around.
The difference in Nikki's younger man (if in fact he really is younger) and Victor's, is that Victor is about 20 years older than Nikki already, then he goes for a woman his daughters age. It's really sad and pathetic for a man of his years to slobber all over her like that. What if Allistar was trying to date Vicky, same thing. Gross.
But the topper is, she should be off limits in Victor's mind, it was his daughters best friend. He ruined that relationship. Has he no shame?
He wants what he wants, he could care less who he hurts.
Why should Vicky suck up to him when he could care less about her feelings? He already said, that he would pay the price. So there ya go, he is putting his sexual happiness in the way of his relationship with his daughter. Not a good father.
He is supposed to think things out, and he should know better. He is scum. A dirty old man. Nothing less.

i too like Adam. and i don't think anything will happen between adam and sabrina. if anything, he might work to get her out the house. he so doesn't like her. he all but called her a plotting gold digger to her face.

u can also tell from yesterday's epi that adam didn't want or expect victoria to leave. he was more suprised that she couldn't take competition. she equated business decisions as a competition for victor's affections and preference. when that clearly isn't the case. notice how victor referred to victoria as an employee. and when an employee leaves it takes awhile for them to earn trust to come back. victor and adam are able to make those distinctions. victoria, nick, and nikki take it all too personally. they hate that victor wants to give adam the new son all of the advantages that they've been given. talk about selfish. and if victoria would just sit down and think and stop pouting, she'll realize that victor doesn't love anyone more than he loves her, not even nick. he's always personally preferred victoria. how many times has victor put adam out of his office or cut off meetings w/ him just b/c victoria walked in the room w/ her "DADDY! Let's talk." GMAB.

just like nikki saw, wanted, and took while she was still married. not once did those morally superior brats censure their mother for her relationship. and she has the audacity to call victor sick. i hope adam is the one that takes that smug look off her face about her soon-to-be hubby. hopefully, it'll be after he's stolen from jabot and nikki's personal account.
victor should tell his kids to go jump off a cliff. they are the ones that don't have any love for him. their love has always been conditional. on condition, that he does what they want him to do and act the way they think he should act.

Victoria could be a real force to be recognized with in the business world - she used to be - if only she would stop with the self-pity and whining and look at what could be before her face. Genoa City needs a shrink but if I remember correctly, Phyllis tried to murder (or something) the last one.

ICAM Judy!

I don't think I've ever really had a problem with May-Dec relationships before, but this one does give me the creeps. Generally, if you have what it takes it shouldn't matter when you were born. I don't have a problem with any other relationship on the show where there's an age spead. But the fact that this was Vik's friend -- who ostensibly came to town to check up on her friend following the friend's harrowing pregnancy experience and health scare -- really ups the ick factor for me.

That said, I don't think Sabrina came specifically for Victoria's benefit - I truly believe that she's here to suck the Victator dry! The understory would suggest that she knew, through her friendship with Victoria, that Victator generally went for younger women, that the relationship with Nikki was rocky at best, that there was an empire ripe for the picking!

BTW, David's no "younger" man! Nikki is younger than Victator, more Jack's age, and that's about where I'd put David.

i agree nonnie. when heather tom played the character she was EXACTLY like victor. kind of like adam is now. she made no bones about her competition w/ nicholas. she made it clear that she was not going to let the company just be handed down to him b/c he was a son. if vikki's character was anything like it used 2 be when heather was portraying it, she would relish and thrive in competition w/ adam. she would have enjoyed it. but as usual, when a character goes thru a change in actor, the writers usually change the characteristics of the character.

A few things that came out of reading today's update:

Brad made his "own photo-copy" of Adrian's book: "Saved From the Ashes"...and tells Michael there are so many inaccuracies in the book, it will never be published...we'll see...

Nikki may be "talking down" to Adam for now, but he knows the truth about her "lover boy" Chow and Adam will soon be "taking him down" with this gambling information...I'm willing to "bet on that"...

Seems Sharon and Phyllis are on the same (website) "page" together when it comes to Jack bringing Jamie Whitfield "into the fold" (as in magazine fold, perhaps) and neither of the two females of the "foursome" like the words Jamie has to say to them about the magazine...and it's this an "online magazine"...why all the wasting of paper, print-ups, layouts, etc when it's online??...they aren't thinking environmentally very much at all...

I think Victor said it WELL, yesterday..."My son, you get your compassion from your mother, and your IN YOUR FACE, Snake Hearted, Bull Headed, My Way Or the Highway sense of things, comes from ME!" well said Mighty Mustache Man!!! LOL

Ewwwwww....JUDY_bo!!! I don't want to think of Alistair SLOBBERING on anyone or anything, but an EXIT script. lol

Posted by passionfruit at Thursday, May 08 2008 09:15 AM

i see veryone hating on nikki and victoria fr being mad at victor and sabrina but come on now.... it's not the age difference it's the fact that he hooked up with his daughter's best friend!!!!! which is just as bad as niki gettin with cole and everyone was mad at her at the time too. think how you andyour mom would act if your father started sleeping with your best friend

alhough i don't care too much for adam i can see where his beaviour is coming from. he is still grieving the loss f his mother and he resents the fact that he grew up on the farm while he could have had everything nick and vicki had. he just doesn't know how to express all his feelings so e acts guarded. he's trying to fit in with his father nd not be an outsider.
