Brad and J.T. ask for a paternity test. Gloria seems to have met her match in Jeffrey! Senator Jack Abbott resigns his Senate seat!
Neil arrives at the ranch and asks Victor how Victoria is doing. After the small talk, Neil broaches the subject of calling in Nikki's loan - he asks if Victor is sure, and why today? Victor orders him to just do it - today!
At the hospital, Nikki and David admire the baby. Nikki tells him that she will spend as much time as possible with Victoria, but she won't be staying in the house - she and Victor can never live together again! Once they have left, Brad arrives at the hospital and encounters J.T. They discuss the baby's condition and the fact that neither of them can sleep. They agree that they are both constantly wondering if the boy is their son! J.T. says, "They can't keep putting off the DNA test." Brad replies, "Yeah, they can!"
At the office, Gloria agonizes to Kevin that Jeffrey Bardwell knows the truth! Kevin tries to get her to relax by reminding her that the police have not come for her yet! The phone rings and Gloria answers - it's Jeffrey, who pretends to have gotten the wrong extension and hangs up! Gloria tells Kevin that he was looking for Katherine! Shortly afterward, Cane, Jill and Katherine arrive for a meeting. They discuss launching the website for "Fresh Faces" later that day! Katherine asks to move things along so they get as much done as possible before their meeting with Jeff Bardwell. Kevin and Gloria exchange an uncomfortable look! When Jeffrey Bardwell arrives Katherine tells him they look forward to hearing his 'business proposal'. When Katherine asks Kevin and Gloria to excuse themselves, Jeffrey follows them to the door and whispers, "There's no proposal. I'm telling them everything!" Gloria is horrified!
Ben warns Jack that it looks bad that he hasn't issued a statement to the press yet! Sharon comes in and ignores Jack, saying hello only to Ben. When Jack asks about Noah and offers to pick him up, she says 'no thanks'. Jack tells her he went back out to the ranch last night and she wasn't there - she tells him she was with Brad! Jack tells her he is glad she has someone she can confide in! She rolls her eyes and says, "He's my friend!" When Jack breaks the news to her that he has to resign or risk impeachment she blurts, "This sucks!" She then reminds him that he did it to himself, with his lies, "Did you ever stop to think about Noah having to deal with this?!" She asks why he constantly gives into his selfishness. When Jack tries to explain, she says she just can't listen to it! She tells Ben to stay and help Jack - because she can't!
David and Nikki enjoy breakfast at the Club, and discuss her situation at the ranch. David suggests they buy a house and get around the clock care for Victoria - he doesn't want Nikki to sacrifice another thing for Victor Newman! Nikki says she loves that he's thought this through, but when Victoria wakes up she should be in her own room with her own things. He says he's disappointed, but understands. He has to run for a meeting, and when he's gone Sharon approaches Nikki and asks how she's doing. Sharon says she talked to Victor last night, and Nikki replies, "Well then you know how I'm doing!" Suddenly Nikki asks if Sharon would mind if she used her former house out at the ranch. A taken-off-guard Sharon agrees.
Victor arrives at the hospital and makes J.T. and Brad wait to see the baby while he goes in first. Inside, Victor chats to the baby about his mother and urges him to keep fighting. Brad watches through the window. Later, Sharon joins Brad at the window and Brad stops a nurse to ask about the baby. She refers him to the Newmans. Brad tells Sharon he feels like an outsider. Brad is given an opportunity to go in to see the baby and Sharon says she'll wait. As soon as Brad goes in the baby begins to have trouble breathing - Brad is forced to go back outside!
At the Abbott house, Ben takes the brunt of Jack's frustration. Jack shouts at him to go get a statement from someone else and leave him alone! Once Jack comes down, he grudgingly apologizes to Ben and tells him he is still struggling with the idea that Gloria of all people, brought an end to his political career! Ben offers to continue to fight for him. Jack appreciates his loyalty and the fact that he's always been straight with him. He tells Ben to set up a press conference - he's made a decision!
A scruffy J.T. has left the hospital and is sitting at the bar of the Club. Cane approaches and they discuss the frustration of J.T.'s situation over a drink. J.T. confides that he really wants the baby to be his! Cane toasts J.T. for 'stepping up'. J.T. tries to explain that he would give up his life for that little baby boy.
Gloria gets Kevin's attention and tells him that Bardwell is going to tell them everything. She asks him what she should do! He tells her to "get the hell out of Dodge!" He reminds her that they may not believe him, but whatever happens, she'd better make a decision soon! Gloria practices on Kevin what she will say to discredit Jeffrey. He tells her to squeeze out a tear or two! Just then, Jeffrey leaves the meeting and Katherine calls them back in. Gloria looks questioningly at Jeffrey who smirks, but gives nothing away!
Nikki and J.T. have both arrived back at the hospital and join Sharon and Brad. They are all told that the baby had a bout of irregular breathing that can mean a high level of carbon dioxide - it's a common problem for preemies. The nurse says they need to do a blood test on the baby. Brad and J.T. perk up - a chance to do a paternity test! Brad asks Nikki for permission.
Sharon arrives home and Jack tells her he has looked at all the choices and has made the only one that is right for them - he will be resigning. She tells him that it's a step in the right direction. He steps toward her and she tells him to back off! Doing one thing right will not fix them! He asks her to come and stand by his side at his last press conference.
At Newman, Neil approaches David and informs him that Nikki's loan is being called in. David goes ballistic - he can't believe Victor is doing this under the current circumstances! Neil warns him to watch what he says about 'the man'! David continues to go off - this is personal! Neil tries to defend Victor, but David calls Victor an egomaniac! Neil assures him he tried to talk him out of it several times. A livid David tells Neil to leave Nikki out of it - he'll deal with it!
Nikki arrives at the ranch with Brad and J.T. in tow. They explain to Victor what has happened with the baby. They tell him they need his permission to go ahead with a paternity test. Nikki reasons that they need to know, and they could go to court, but in the end a blood test will be ordered anyway, "Let's just do it, " she urges. "It's time!"
At the bar in the Club, Gloria sits sipping a martini when Jeffrey approaches. She says, "So you didn't tell Katherine and Jill all those lies about me!" He growls, "That doesn't mean I won't tomorrow or the next day. Are you shaking in your top dollar boots yet?!" She asks what he wants. He says he'll keep her secret - all she has to do is marry him!
Jack is giving his press conference. Sharon is standing by his side. He tells the press that the controversies surrounding him currently outweigh any good he could do at this point - so he is resigning his Senate seat. He quotes from a favorite book of his father's. At Jabot, Katherine, Jill, Cane, and Kevin sit listening. Jill says, "Finally the man pays for his sins!" Kevin slips outside the room to call his mother - he tells her it's been a really, really good day! Back at the conference, Jack thanks his wife for her love and support - it is of immeasurable value.
At the ranch, Victor has received an update on the baby who is doing well. Brad returns the conversation to the paternity test. Victor acknowledges that as long as neither of them know who the father is - he and Nikki are calling the shots! Brad complains that if he is the father, he shouldn't have to come to either of them for news if his son is in a life-threatening situation! J.T. adds, "Or my son." Nikki says Victoria would want to know. Victor replies, "Order the test."

Gloria is saying to Kevin, "I go to jail, and my loving husband gets every dime of my inheritance!" Kevin replies, "It's kinda' brilliant!"
Nick asks Sharon, "You think you'll leave him?" She shrugs...
Phyllis says to Jack, "She'll forgive you!" Jack replies, "Not this time."

Jack seems to be not really happy about giving up his senate seat, but it was the right thing to do in this difficult situation for the state of Wisconsin alone!
