Restless Rant
Week of November 23 - 25:

Wow, only three episodes of The Young and the Restless to comment on this week! I found it to be a bit of a bleak Thanksgiving on the whole, though there were definitely some lighter moments to be found. There were some unexpected kisses this week too! Here's how it looked from where I was sitting:

Bad Boy Syndrome: I enjoyed the scenes on Monday's episode when Chance confronted Chloe about harboring feelings for Billy, which prompted her to go the honesty route with Mrs. C., and later with Chance himself. The trouble is, I think Chloe is trying to convince herself she's over Billy more than anyone else - her true feelings were depicted by her actions - making excuses and walking out when things got hot and heavy with Chance. I also loved the ensuing conversation between Murphy and Katherine about 'bad boys', which concluded with them heading upstairs together, and Murphy hinting about having a bit of bad boy in him! Good stuff!

The Adam Weirdness Continues: How is it that Sharon is kissing a creep that tells her to put down a baby she's holding and go home? I still can't see Adam as anything other than a slimeball, and his lunging, eat-your-lips-off, first kiss with Sharon made me shudder. Interesting how writers teased viewers this week by having Sharon hold her baby, showing the baby then fussing for Ashley, and by having Ashley and Faith showing up at the very moment/place that Nick was grieving his loss!

No Deal: Looks like Billy's not the only Abbott in the dumps after Nick, Jack's last hope, turned him down on a joint business deal after learning he'd slept with Phyllis. I wasn't surprised one bit - this is totally something that would really happen - especially when dealing with a Newman! As for Nick deliberately leaving Adam out of Katherine's offer to the Newman family, methinks he's in for a big shock - I suspect that Adam will wind up with plenty - thanks to Ash!

Billy's Night Out: I wonder if this was supposed to be an indication of how far Billy has fallen - he reverts to picking up a stranger using the name 'Liam', only to be bested at his own game!

Chancellor Thanksgiving: I didn't care for Chloe reading Billy the riot act about his behavior - she should at least try to act as though she doesn't care anymore! It was really weird seeing Jill being nice to Mackenzie - I liked it though. I was impressed that the writers remembered to include a phone call from Phillip. As for Paul turning up, and ultimately sharing a smooch with Nina - I'm disappointed to say that I didn't feel any chemistry between them - better off as friends I think…

Abbott Thanksgiving: One word - dysfunctional! I think they all should have thrown Emily out first for offering unsolicited and annoying psychiatric advice, and then had a knock-down, drag-out fight about their issues. It would have been more entertaining! Kudos to Peter Bergman for making us feel sorry for Jack - even though he brought it all on himself! Note to writers: Abby's behavior is more like that of a twelve year-old who has experienced loss and disappointment, than that of a young woman well into her teen years. Her saucy, childish tantrums grate on the nerves!

Newman Thanksgiving: This started out as a nice Thanksgiving - complete with comic relief thanks to the timely delivery of NuSofa! Then, all was well until Summer's contribution caused the cook to cry! Too funny! Further comic relief at the tack house included Phyllis's comment to Nick 'I'm-There-For-You' Newman, who wanted to save the day, "How?" she pouted, "Do you have a Butterball in your back pocket?" I was glad the writers included a phone call to Victor and Nikki too - kudos. Victoria irked me, though. She spent most of her time pushing 'poor me' attitude, or doling out lecture-y advice. No wonder JT volunteered to deliver the dinner rolls to Neil - probably was wishing he'd left sourpuss in New York!

Indigo: Who knew the Abbotts would all gravitate to volunteering - each with their own reasons for doing so, but nice all the same. The Winters family dynamic was the strongest and most positive of all the Genoa City families. Good on JT for getting away from his sulky wife and joining the gang at Indigo for a while!

The Baldwin Thanksgiving: What can you say? Glo was in tip-top form, stuffing her face with caviar and champagne, and doling out rude comments with impeccable timing. The rapidly-aged Fenmore was adorable too. Although I found it odd for Lauren and Michael to allow Ryder over there, at least we were able to establish that Ryder and Daisy are definitely connected - thank goodness for that! Some are speculating that Sheila may be their mother - all I can say is I hope not - and although I know why she'd be gunning for Lauren, I don't understand why she would have targeted Amber and Daniel initially. I really hope more is revealed soon!

Delia and Reed: The future of The Young and the Restless! Burgeoning fashionista, Delia, in her trendy little pink cap charmed older man Reed in a matter of seconds! So funny that Billy and Victoria were forced into making nice for the kids' sake…

Well, there was a fair bit of negativity in the air this Thanksgiving in Genoa City, but some funny moments saved it from being downright morose. I hope all of you Soaps.com readers have a terrific Thanksgiving yourselves - at least as upbeat as the Winters family! I look forward to seeing you all back here next week for a full five episodes of Y&R!

Hello Candace,

While I hate the path Y & R has taken, I enjoyed your rant especially in respect to you calling Adam a slimeball, which he is.

Pardon us, but most of us only read the previews as we think its a waste of an hour daily. It was nice to see Faith in Sharon's arms - but you have to know that this hurts us mothers like hell. We do not like nor appreciate this sickening storyline. Too many women out there especially your audience between the ages of 18-49 yrs old have lost a child or miscarried and well the pain never goes away.

It was good to see Nick think about baby Faith.

When you do think they'll give the baby back?

Happy Thanks-Giving too.

I hope they don't drag out the baby storyline - but who knows?!

Im proud to say I didnt watch Y&R at all this week. I knew Adam would be on the scene this week and I just cant stomach his scenes with Sharon. Its like a bad horror flick that wont end. Frankly, I just dont like the characters I used to like because they were changed so much. I dont have any vested interest in them anymore.

Hope everyone has a nice holiday!

Good rant as usual. Totally agree about Abby. She is extremely annoying. I dread her scenes more than anyone else. While I have always been a Nick/Sharon and was hoping for a reunion, I am now starting to enjoy Nick/Phyllis. The scenes with Sharon and Adam are just boring especially with all the creepy stuff he has done to her. Also, Sharon used to be dressed so chic and now they have her dressed like an old maid. Bring back Sharon the fashionable. Why must Mac always have that same awful hairdo. Mix her up a bit with some more fashionable clothes as well. Finally, I am tired of seeing Victoria with something covering her belly. If they didn't want to write her pregnancy in they could at least use some better camera work (i.e. above the waist) to hide it then constantly having her put something in front of it. Was great to see both Reed and Fen this week. Although they and Summer will probably be the same age as Abby by next Thanksgiving. Lol.

Nick/Sharon/Phyllis/Adam

S/L is just awful.

Sharon could have had Thanksgiving with her mom and Noah. Instead, the writers had her call Adam. No, the writers want her desperate. Again, Sharon needs to be playing Adam, because she thinks that he took her baby. If not, than the writers are just out to destroy her character.

Phyllis really is too OLD for Nick. And, her actions today really proved my point. The counselor and/or advisor…………..She looks like Nick’s Aunt…….. Nothing about Nick/Phyllis looks good. She is looks OLD on the side of NICK, very OLD. Plus, Nick can't figure out Anything to say Victor is his DAD. Phyllis has to lead him just like a mother does her child.

The Chancellors are on the ball. Their home was really like Thanksgivings; it was full of life. Me, I like the kiss with Paul and Nina.

Ashley needs to go back to the Psyche ward. She and Sharon are both lost. As for Faith; it appeared to me that Faith was fussy with Ashley after Sharon left. Faith wanted her mom, Sharon.

Happy Thanksgiving!

i didn't watch y&r yesterday glad that i didn't so i am so glad that i did not have to see another kiss between slimeball and sharon...give sharon her baby back and send the slimeball packing back to the farm to play with the nasty pigs where her belongs on second thought send him to jail without ever getting out!

I agree with your rant. As far as Amber being targeted by Sheila they have a history. Sheila's daughter tried to steal Rick Forrester from Amber while they were married, when she had little eric (Deacon's son with Amber's cousin). Sheila kidnapped Amber and held her hostage in a hotel room. Amber was later rescued, that may be why she was a target.

Hello Candi girl!!!!

I agree with you about Paul and Nina no Chemistry there to speak of. I think him and Dr. Emily have a better chemisrty even as her double role.
they make a cute couple to me. I don't like the Nina character she acts kinda like the jillinater.

I think Heather and Chance would make a great couple too.

Victoria is always a bummer. I think both Cane and Jt have a good chemisrty with Mac. and Billy has a better one with Chloe.

as usual Glowworm and Jeffery have their comical moments. and only are concerned with their own lives they think the world should revolve around them.

I know Sharon has heard the negativity about Adam and has seen first hand how he acts. why do the writer's make her character so needy of "MEN"? she is so wishy washy . both her and the Ice Queen still need therapy.

and as far as the spoiled brat princess gabby Abby is concerned she needs a good Spanking.

and I think Kevin needs therapy too.

I hope the s/l will keep moving along and start to get exciting again. it's been a long time in coming!!!!
