A representative for Melody Thomas-Scott has said that due to an emergency, Melody has regrettably had to pull out of her role in "The Republic." The role of Martha Alden will now be played by film actress Sean Young.

Soaps.com has learned that Melody Thomas-Scott, who plays Nikki Newman on The Young and the Restless, is set to appear in a new online web series entitled, "The Republic."

The series is described as a chronicle of the trials and tribulations of the Alden Family as the country collapses around them.

Melody will play Martha Alden, and she is due to start taping her scenes in November.

Hope Nikki stays there. I think her character on Y&R has gone done the toilet. The writers have set her womanhood behind 100 years. She even knows Victor will treat her the same way. There is only one way and that is Victors.

Was wondering if MTS will have the dark hair on Y&R too...I remember when Heather Tom was playing the role of "Victoria" and one day she just showed up with BLONDE hair...I don't remember if it was talked about or explained on the show, but her very dark tendrills were now lightened...'Nikki' could do the reverse and go dark...

MTS is talented and beautiful, good luck to you on your new series. She looks great with dark hair. Maybe the writers will accentuate her talents better than they have on The Young and The Restless.
