Restless Rant
Week of October 26 - 30:

I'm enjoying The Young and the Restless a lot more now that there is a balance going on - there's been some romance, business, friendships, and parties featured. I couldn't be happier that those dominantly dark and maudlin stories such as 'haunted Ashley' and 'hospital tragedy' are a thing of the past. Now, if they could only get rid of Adam, give Sharon her baby, and find a way to keep Neil and Jill onscreen for more than one day every couple of weeks - I'd be ecstatic! I'm also missing Nina, Phillip, and even Heather, who really rocked the last scenes we saw her in. Here goes:

Victoria's Mess: Here's to 'hot when angry' JT decking Deacon - I love scenes like this! I'm also a fan of JT standing his ground with his spoiled, cheating wife Victoria - very satisfying!

Nikki/Victor: Wow. It's hard to stomach her turnaround inside of a week where Victor is concerned. Apparently, all it takes is a ring for Nikki to forget that the last thing Victor wanted to see on her was a toe tag! By the way, someone needs to explain to Victor that a real man takes responsibility for his actions and admits when he's wrong…mmm…maybe even apologizes to those he's hurt…just saying.

Jack/Dr. Peterson: Could be a hot match-up…waiting to see…

Ryder/Lauren/Jana/Amber: Didn't Jana give up Ouija boards? Anyway, I'm more convinced than ever that Ryder may be the offspring of Sheila - who is presumed to be DEAD. It's an interesting mystery developing, though, no matter who his mom turns out to be! Ryder is a great character because part of you feels bad for him, and he comes across so boyish and likable, but at the same time, you know there's an agenda under it all - kudos to actor Wilson Bethel who is doing a bang-up job in the role. Also, isn't it just great when Jana dislikes someone?! Did anyone else love how she glared across the room at Ryder and told him the little hot dog thingies came frozen from a box! Hehe!

Gloria/Jeff: The energizer bunnies of scheming, plotting and fortune hunting. Their shtick is getting a little humdrum though. Maybe the writers could come up with something different for them to do for once. As for Michael helping them - ridiculous.

Mad Mac: Well! The atmosphere at RS became really um, chilly, when Mac blew in to confront Billy about the Victor article! For once, Mac was somewhat interesting in a scene - she certainly got her displeasure across! I was disappointed that she went right back to defending Billy the next day (to Kevin), but I'm sure she'll revert to ice queen status when she learns that he wrote up some dirt on Victoria and JT!

Chloe: I get that she's loyal to Billy, but I'm finding that I feel annoyed by her always being right there at his heels and sticking up for his hot-headedness. I would much prefer that she blow him off and let him come looking for her for a change - peep - a little bird tells me he just might do that on Monday!

Billy Bungle: Stop the presses - I actually agree with Adam on something, namely, I can understand why Billy lashed out at Victor. Billy is the sort of person who has to express his pain and anger in this way. The death of Colleen was a horrible consequence of what Victor set in motion, and Victor will never really pay for it - Billy knows this - it's part of the frustration. Typically, however, Billy went about it all wrong. What's great is that as much as you watch Billy and think, "What an idiot," at the same time you can sympathize with the feelings driving his actions - three cheers for complexity! Good scenes with everyone confronting him too. You just know he's going to learn a hard lesson out of all this - maybe…

Billy/Nick: Blah. This is a way too obvious set-up of the next generation of the Victor/Jack feud, and although Billy is very Jack-like, Nick is no Victor - never has been and never will be. Adam definitely isn't either, and Victoria's too emotional. I think Victor/Jack is a rivalry they shouldn't try to duplicate anyway.

Sharon/Adam: I think it's positively gross how Adam can stand in front of Sharon and let her refer to Faith as his 'new little sister'! Do I get a kick out of him irritating Nick? Sure. Did I enjoy seeing him come to Sharon's door dressed as a sly fox? Definitely. But I still have a huge problem with this guy as a potential romantic partner or a redeemable character - because the things he's done are not typical villainous acts or 'mistakes' - he seems to be a psychopath or sociopath - big difference!

Abby Goes Wild: Abby flirting with Ryder and pretending to be eighteen was too funny. The best part was Noah appearing with that sarcastic look on his face and saying, "Funny, two weeks ago you were fourteen." Burn! Anyway, her next move was to dress up and sneak into a bar with the mysterious new Daisy character (who was trouble from the word 'go'). So, it looks like Abby's going to be 'acting out'! Not sure I'm up for a crappy teen storyline surrounding Abby, but here's hoping there's more to this than meets the eye.

Victor's Message: Loved the flashbacks - they were really entertaining because there was such a mix of characters and eras. The whole 'message' thing was weird in itself though. He said he would be back, yet he was leaving her this adult-themed message that seemed like his last words to her. Strange.

Jack/Victor: I found it distasteful that they were hurling threats again so soon after their rivalry led to the death of an innocent young woman. You'd think they'd be able to contain themselves for, oh, a month or so!

The pace and balance of the current storylines has been really enjoyable, and there is a lot to look forward to down the road! Monday's show is quite good! Also, for those still wondering, Eric Braeden's Victor will be off the canvas for some time, but the actor did sign a new contract and Victor will definitely return to Genoa City!

Wow, I'm the first comment

I am really enjoying the show. I never really wasn't though to be honest. As far as Nicki back with Victor. I think it had to do with EB leaving, almost for good. I think it was necessary to have them leave as many of us like them... in love.

I found myself asking this question all week, "Does Mackenzie ever smile?" It does annoy me that this character is so stone faced each and every time we see her. I am looking for way more Jill. Neil and his family need to be used more too. I am hoping to see much more business scenes like the days of old. Let's focus on Newman/Jabor/ and Chancellor. That is what has always set this show apart from the rest.

I so agree with you on the Sharon and Adam assessment. It is gross. His character is not redeemable. Its disgusting.

I like Billy. Im tired of the Victor and Jack drama, they need something new.

I enjoy reading the weekly rant rather than watching Y&R nowadays. This soap has become out of sync with its viewers and behind the times. Come to the 21st century!

Happy Halloween everyone!

I think the writers are crazy to think that they can redeem Adam by pairing him with Sharon. It's absolutely disgusting! I really would love to know what the heck the writers are thinking. The man steals her baby and wham bam, now he's a potential romantic interest...they should write for horror movies, not Y&R.

In terms of Billy, I can understand his actions perfectly well. BUT there are many people to blame for this entire fiasco, including his own brother.

YES!! ITA with you Candace about giving Sharon her baby back and taking out the Garbage of a man.
On JT being ~HOT~ he is whether calm or angered!
Nikki/TGVN the bling got her back! LOL
As far as the dueling dou, I thought that it was odd for them to take up where that left off before the Crazy Patty fiasco!

I'm totally sick of these shows that cannot come up with a new storyline... All My Children, Young & the Restless, Days of Our Lives AND Young and the Restless ALL have baby switch or keep baby from real parents storylines either currently going on or recently happened. Old and boring.

Oops... said Y&R twice... meant One Life to Live also

Victor's message was sort of morbid, sounded like he was never going to return. I suppose this was before he had agreed to a new contract, but even so, I would have thought he may have spoken more of the present and not like Faith would not see it until after he was dead. Do you suppose he was preparing (us) for his demise at the rehab facility? I really enjoyed seeing the montage of his memories and hope that once he is rewritten into the story that he will be able to interact with "Faith". Adam should just leave Sharon alone. How can he be so unfeeling toward her about the baby. I hope Victor will eventually figure out what was going on with Ashley, because of Adam. He could really fix him and let Jack help. Nick could find out that Faith is his daughter and Adam is the reason Ashley believes she belongs to her. I thought that when Abby found the camera at the ranch, Adam was about to get his comeuppance, but, now Abby is just another "girl gone wild"! Too bad Billy isn't smart enough to realize he has a chance to make something out of RS, instead he wants to use it for revenge. Happy Halloween everyone!

Mac is the most morose judgemental person on the show. She is a snooze and I am glad to see some friction between her and Billy...means BAC may end sooner rather than later.

Loved the Chilly scenes, especially the Halloween stuff! That Delia was adorable! Yes Chloe defends him but that may be changing soon. Billy is going to be fighting for his family in no time. GO LONG!

Pressed the wrong key and it all disappeared.
Here goes again I am very glad that Victor is staying and he and Nikki is back togather.Victor was on entertainment last night stating that his fans was responsible for him staying. Please writers have Victor and Nikki play the stable grand parents in their grand children lives ,it is plain that they both love their children/grandchildren. Thank you Phyllis for not been sucked in by your fake brother-in-law.love you you have done something right.

Writers please do not pair Sharon and Adam .Give Sharon her baby back soon so, she can bond with her child ,otherwise it will be disaserious, for Ashley and Sharon ,in the end.Send Adam away for a while to serve time for all his wrong deeds.Adam needs to pay , before you all try to reform him,Also his attitude stinks he believe that everyone owes him something.Wake up Adam you are the one that do these things to yourself .Adam you had your sight ,you choose to give it up why ,should we feel sorry for you now.

Billy method may be wrong but the Reason dam sure is not. That's why I'm rooting for William Abbott.

Jack and Victor to overgrown fools who did not learn one darn thing from Colleens Death, Traci will not be happy about this.
