Hi Candace! Great rant as usual!
I have to agree with everyone else. As a loyal viewer of over 10 years this is the first time I find myself fast- forwarding through scene after scene.
The whole art scheme s/l with the fab four is so unrealistic. All the feds have to do is run a ballistics test to see that Daniel didn't fire the gun, therefore not quilty of murder.
Mac/Raul/Billy/Chloe-I love the chemistry between Billy and Chloe. It should be a no brainer for the writers to develop this story. Mac has no chemistry with anyone. I'm sure Clementine is a wonderful person but she has no soul or emotion with her acting.
Nick/Sharon/Phyllis-I'm so done with this storyline. I use to love all these characters until now. These are wonderful actors please give them a better story!
I really hope the writers are not going to go forward with Devons "supposed" crush on Tyra. That just about made me sick. He grew up thinking of her as his aunt and now he finds out she's adopted and he's thinking about kissing her?!
The s/l I do love is the Kay/Nina/Jill one. They are so fabulous! I love they way Nina speaks her mind and stands up to Jill. I'm so happy they brought her back to the show. It'll be interesting to see how this s/l goes.

Writers please bring back the romance to Y&R!!! Isn't that what a soap is about? What about the happy couples like Michael/Lauren, JT/Victoria?

Love your rant,as always Candace.....I've been watching Y&R for over 20 yrs...and think the show is moving in an awful direction, which for me is hard to say, since the new writers have shown they have a history of the show. If they think this is taking the show to some new edge, I believe they will alienate many long term viewers. Many of the characters are not even anything like they have been....if their goal is to get more viewers...they have just lost one...

I feel the same way Candace, i loved Mary "crazy" Jane and Paul little dream scene and i hope she mess with the whole Quad just not the babies, poor summer, Love Nina and that storyline also, everything else was a drag this week, im so drained from these dark writings, im sorry but i miss my Lauren and as Much as i love Michael, its predictable that he would be back in Lawyer mode, he looked like he didnt even want to be there, just back home with Lauren brownies!!!! Devin kissing he aunt just went to far for me, kill it NOW!!!!!!!!! At least Jill went and got a job and is not taking handouts from her sons unlike Gloria who needs to get herself a job, and uses Michael and Kevin every chance she gets!!!!!

I agree with everything you have said Candace! I'll take it a step further, all of the storylines are completely rediculous. After I read the spoiler about Nick & Sharon I have decided not to tivo y&r anymore and just catch a few updates on your site. I find that when I try to watch it I'm done in 10minutes because I can't stand to watch anyone but Nick/Sharon/Jack/Phlass (smile) . Now I can't stand to watch them either because I know the writers are going to screw that s/l up! I stopped watching the b&b a long time ago because of the Bells losing good writers and now y&r is next!

The writing has been pretty lackluster lately. This Chloe/Billy/Mac thing is crazy. Billy and Chloe's chemistry sizzles while his and Mac's fizzles. Even having them almost hook up in a bar wasn't even exciting. Mac just doesn't do anything for me, and quite frankly I find her boring. Even trying to pair her with someone as exciting as Billy can't save her scenes, she is just BLAH. But I guess Billy has to get over his past so that he can move on. Hope he realizes he belongs with Chloe fast because I don't know how much more Mac I can take.

Devon wanting to get with Tyra is like Billy and Mac. Even if you aren't related, the fact that you thought you were adds a certain ick factor.

Sharon/Nick/Phyllis/Jack and the infamous MaryJane is one big mess and it's only begun. Having them all flip flop back and forth makes you dizzy after awhile. Love that Shick is together again, but the writers made it too easy so we know there is going to be some conflict coming. The only plus side is watching the nutty MJ and her kitty. Watching the wack job interact in their lives while they remain oblivious to her craziness is fun to watch.

This DNA thing is crazy too. I was too young to watch when Phillip C III was on, I had to look up who he even was. But it is going to be interesting watching how this story unfolds because there are so many directions it could go.

And I have to say the highlight of the week was watching Jill in the salon. Oh how the mighty have fallen!! It may not be believable but it made me chuckle.

Candace,I'm always reading your rant. You are always on point and the humor isn't bad either. I'm also a very long time view of Y&R, 30 years and counting but like so many other long time fans, myself included, can barely take where the writers are going with this unbelievable ridiculous s/l.

You are absolutely right about the Billy/Chole/Mac s/l, there is absoutely no chemistry between Mac and Billie. Mac has no personality, and a very glum demeanor, and adding the hair didn't help, although it did make her character appear younger. I'm just not feeling her. I'm sure she's a great person, but in my opinion the acting skills are lacking.

The Nick/Phyllis/Sharon/Jack/Mary Nut...oops my bag, I mean Mary Jane is getting old. ENOUGH ALREADY!! I do agree with you, please don't let the writers use a innocent child in this drama. I've read the spoilers and I'm really hoping there not right. But I do enjoy MJ and her stuffed cat, hilarious.

I too like the s/l with Nina/Katherine/Jill. So glad Nina won't let Jill bully her. I do like the the direction Cane's character is going. So he's not Mr. Perfect after all???

Devon and Tyra s/l..SICK!

The fabulous 4 s/l who cares, totally boring.

I can remember when Y&R had you on the edge of your seat, just hoping that 45min wasn't up. Now all I do is fast forward my dvr over and over again. I watch about 20min.

Candace, as usual you are right on the money....People watch soaps for the fantasy of it all......we love seeing passionate couples, crazy business strategy's.....the money....all that....if we wanted crazy chimpunks and gaslighting we would turn it over to Twlight Zone instead.

Passions is a good example...the only reason it lasted as long as it did was for the 2 couples everyone rooted for....but the writers kept them apart so long you just couldn't tune in anymore.

These writers are doing the same thing but what is even worse is they are dragging down the characters with them.....Sharon Case and Michelle Staffford are the main reasons I watch this show....they are wonderful actresses and I love the victim role of Sharon and the devil role of Phyllis......But the writers can't keep up with their acting abilities. Take us into Sharon's childhood so we can see what makes her who she is....and the same for Phyllis....you can't be as manipulative as she is without a reason. Sharon as a teen had alot of issues and Nick was her knight in shining armor....Nick couldn't deal with Cassie's death so he turns to Phyllis....all of this is believealbe. But to have us believe that Phyllis would resort to being second choice over and over again and Sharon would like about the father of her child is wrong....not true to either one of the characters and why we love them.

Poor Lily.....will she ever come out on top (I haven't always been a Lily fan...she is just too nice and never does any wrong....the whole Daniel/Lily marriage really made me not like her...the minute someone does something that she doesn't approve of..she just runs aways....doesn't fight for anything.....Neil and Devon are always there to protect her and make everyone feel they are not good enough for her....which is why she can't stand on her own to feet....But she wants to be a mother so bad and to take that away from her is sad.

Not as sad as what they are doing to Summer and Ashley's baby....why do these writers think we turn into to soaps....It sure as heck isn't to see all the people have miscarriages, die while pregnant, lose babys due to gaslighting, and heaven forbid the initial peanut butter allery reaction.....

We want love and passions.......we want our favorite couples.....we don't want triangles to go on for 3 years and just flip flopping back and forth.

Nick and Sharon have loved each other from the first time they met......give them some happiness again.

Phyllis and Jack are great together too.....give them some happiness.......

Billy and Chloe are great together....but if you want to have a good triangle for them....take Mac out of the equation and make it Raul/Chloe/Billy.....now that would be a good one.....Use to love Billy/Mac together don't get me wrong but the chemistry between Billy and Chloe is great....Mac is so boring I can't stand watching her anymore.

Katherine/Nina/Jill...now this is good writing so far and the speed is going better than most storylines.....but I feel we have had the same conversations over and over for the past month.....move on with it and get to the point.

Where is Murphy? We want to see Murphy & Katherine......

Give us a business battle with Jack and Victor....quite the stupid trying to put the other one in jail.....make them what they were best at.....business bullies to each other.....

Let Nick give Noah a spanken.....I tell you if I talked to my mom that way my dad would have lost it.....you just don't do that no matter what happened. And when will anyone ever tell Noah this is exactly what Phyllis did to Sharon....Noah thinks it sorry what they are doing to Phyllis.....he is old enough to have put two and two together and realized Phyllis was pregnant by Nick when Sharon and Noah were home crying by themselves over Cassie's death......

I can't hardly even watch this show anymore......If Sharon goes back to Jack and if Jack and Phyllis are dumb enough to take Sharon and Nick back.....all I can say is they are deserve the hurt that comes with it when Nick and Sharon hook up again.....unlike Phyllis and Nick....sharon and Nick have a history that is untouchable......they will always find their way back to each other.

wow - some of you guys are really up in arms over stuff. I have watched this show for 16 years and have never enjoyed it more. Maria and her team are playing all the beats of stories at a great pace. Adams story is cruel, dark, and challenging but I can very much get on board with him doing this (not supporting but seeing why). People do MESSED UP things and it may be as simple enough as he wants daddys attention and has weird issues with women and trust. That stuff becomes heightened given the rejection and isolation hes had in his life and suddenly his life is VERY out of whack. He felt bad about Ashely falling down the stairs but he still continues his plan - he is living a double life which is very common. Hope was great and I'm sure a loving mother - but that doesn't mean her son can't be messed up.

I'm hopeful that Clementine will click but its not happening. I liked Rachel Kimsey. I wish they could bring back Ashley Bashioum but she is so much younger than everyone else now that I don't think it meshes with the current stories.

I love this show and trust the writers and 'the process'. The payoffs will be worth it.

How about this for a storyline: Have Billy & Mac finally get together and then have him be disappointed in her skills and be instantly bored with Mac. Then have Billy chase Chloe the way she chased him & Cane.

I'm bored with Nick & Sharon, especially Nick. I still say she & Phyllis should dump him. But now with Brad dead and gone, Y&R would need a new alpha male for them, how about Cane??

Still can't wait for Paul to find out how Victor's been using crazy Patty. Bring Mary back to join Jill, Glo & Jeff to bring Victor down
