Hi Chris: You — like anyone else, has every right to decide what kind of field you want to labor in. We do it every day: I think that's what they call choicing to change jobs (smile). Although my or anyone else's opinion doesn't matter when it comes to a decision that only YOU can make, I do very much want to commend you for doing so with much grace, professionalism and thoughtfulness. I suspected there was much more to the story than the mere "speculations" we were reading. Thanks for clearing things up. Whatever field you ultimately choose to toil in, I know it will be green! [And that means both financial and personally rewarding]. Best of luck.

Chris, you are a very talented actor. or the people on this site would not have had the opportunity to rant and rave. I respect your decisions as why you are leaving. and I wish you all the best in the future.
you will be missed. if you have read any of my posts on this site. I hope that I never offended you in any way. you have been a great actor. God Bless!!!

Chris Engen, I applaud you for standing up for your beliefs. I would like to interject on some comments made here: It pains me when I hear homosexual individuals cry "homophobic" when heterosexual people fail to embrace their lifestyle. Yet, when they don't embrace our lifestyle, we don't go around accusing them of being heterophobic. Now to you Chris: You are a talented actor, and the writers should have taken note and taken your views into consideration. If the writers cared anything about their talented actors and their viewers, they would can this s/l and beg you to come back!

I really enjoyed Chris' work on The Young and the Restless, and he will be missed. All of my friends on the board, and I, talked about how cute he was, when he first came on the show. I'm disappointed, but I wish Chris the very best of luck, in his future acting career. J. Lyon

Bravo. Our hats are off to you. It is nice to see someone who stands up to their own convictions. The storyline you had was extremely weird and I can not imagine anyone being able to follow it. Good luck in the future.

By the way, it is okay homophobic, neurotic, evil, wicked, cruel or even nasty. It is our right to be anything we want to be. We are not all liberals. There are allot of us who stand up for our beliefs, ideals and have morals and standards in which we live by.

Thank you for being a great example.

Soaps.com does not allow posters to call one another out. Also, this is not a forum in which to debate sexuality or religion.

Thank you,

Well said Chris. Hats off to you. In a society that is still learning to accept people for their differences and lifestyles, it would be unfair to expect someone to champion the fight against the homophobes and bigots.

As a single father, he must also protect his son, from the rumour mill, and the ever-so-judgemental public. He is a father first, followed by an actor.

Whether we want to admit it or not, homosexuality, is still an ongoing fight for equality.

Some say that actors should be able to "act" the part, and if they were good actors, it should be a done deal.

I don't agree with that. I do not discriminate against homosexuals, as this is their destined way of life. Heterosexuality is my destined way of life, and I would certainly feel that my civil rights were being violated if I were forced to do something in my job that went against my personal beliefs and way of life.

This is NO different than turbans being allowed to be worn instead of the proper RCMP uniform issue hat. It is their religion, belief, whatever.

So he feels wrong kissing a man. If you weren't homosexual, you would feel wrong too. You try being put in that same situation, and I am sure those who criticize will start singing another tune.

Sorry to see you go Chris, I will you all the success in your future endeavours.
