Restless Rant!

Katherine makes sense! (Soaps.com)
August 11th-15th (Warning! Contains content from Friday, August 15th episode!)

Well, I started the week off confused about Nikki proclaiming to the FBI that she is Mrs. Victor Newman. Guess that's how she thinks of herself, whether Victor likes it or not! I was also taken aback by Jill's tepid response to finding out about the fix Cane is in. This woman lives for the moment she gets to unleash her inner rage on someone, but she barely raises an eyebrow when Cane relates how Chloe has ruined his life?! Where was the Chloe/Jill showdown featuring an irate Jill in 'mother bear' mode warning the little gold digger she has messed with the wrong family etc, etc? I'm loving the conflict over Newman Enterprises though! Here's how the week looked to me:

The Jabot Intrigue:
I was glad to see Nikki confront Brad and Jill and hold her own. She's been downtrodden enough. It was fabulous to see Traci - they should make her comeback permanent! I thought Ashley should have been there though. The stockholder's meeting was ridiculous, with no one making a peep about the blatant nepotism of Jill appointing Cane, never mind his non-existent experience! At least Brad got up and walked out in protest! It looks like the best of this tale is yet to come - I can't wait to see what is in that file he gave Jack! Additionally, if Jack decides to throw in with Jeffrey and Gloria, this is going to get even juicier! Mostly because Peter Bergman (Jack), Judith Chapman (Gloria), and Ted Shackleford (Jeff) create magic in their scenes together!

Phyllis and Sharon: So, the viewers complain that these two are being too nice to one another, and the writers fix it by giving them both permanent PMS?! They seem to be snarking over the small stuff, and it's irritating, rather than creating viable conflict. How about Phyllis throwing Amber out of the penthouse? Her over-the-top hatred of Amber is hard to understand, given that once she was a lot like her. I say to Phyllis, "Be careful! You could end up with the endlessly bitter and snippy Colleen as a replacement!"

Cane/Lily/Chloe:
Cane! Why not ask the doctor how far along the pregnancy is and shed some more light on this mystery?! Don't get me started about Lily nobly telling her betrothed that he must now marry Chloe! Who would do that in this day and age?! Yeesh! Katherine was the only one making sense this week - Hello? You can marry Lily and still be a part of the baby's life! Heck, go for custody even! And what's up with Neil and Devon? Boy, did those holier-than-thou guys ever turn on a dime once the DNA results rolled in! It's sure gonna' be awkward if Cane somehow proves he was telling the truth all along!

Tyra/Ana:
Of course, now we know that Ana is the sketchy Yolanda's daughter, not Tyra's at all. That's one kid that will be singing the blues when she finds out the truth! I'm just wondering how Neil fits into all of this? Will he be forced to adopt Ana to keep her safe? Will he marry Tyra for good measure? It is nice, though, for Devon to get a real sibling. The problem is, it's hard to get too excited about it - I think it might have something to do with Devon having such an off-putting personality. Just my opinion.

The Case of the Missing Mogul: Kudos to the writers! They've had Soaps.com readers guessing all week long who Victor was calling, as well as the identity of the man that Victor was looking for in Mexico. Turns out it's Walter he's there to find - that works for me! I'm anxious to see what information will come out when Victor and Walter face-off. Still no reveal on who Victor is keeping in contact with - I'm on the proverbial edge-of-my-seat waiting to find that out! Now that Paul has discovered Victor's location, I wonder who will be seedy-bar bound? Here's hoping the writers do us proud with some good old-fashioned intrigue and danger!

Love the close moments! (Soaps.com)
Amber/Daniel/Colleen: It's painful watching Amber hurt - like, you can actually feel it! Please give her back her love! It's also painful watching Colleen, but in a different way. First of all, she has no right to have such a huge chip on her shoulder about Adrian - she dumped him and wouldn't even discuss working things out! But she's bitter alright - and taking it out on whoever gets in her way! Lookout! It's mini-Jill Abbott! Although I enjoyed the tongue-lashing she gave Chloe for obvious reasons, it was kind of over-the-top considering that Cane is supposedly equally to blame. And what's up with asking Daniel out? How high-school revenge-y is that?

Noah's Home:
I think he's cute as can be, and they didn't age him to be twenty, so it will work. I was surprised about the whole hitch-hiking thing though - not a particularly good message, is it?!

Kevin/Jana/Michael: There were some touching moments between the usually at-arms-length brothers this week! I liked it! How funny was Kevin as the Fortune Teller/Stripper? I live for these comedic scenes on Y&R now. Even better? The laced brownies at the Ashram! Everyone was feeling the love - except Michael who was fabulously out of his element in a flowy white tunic top and bare feet! Keep it up writers! This is amazing stuff!

Adam and the Newman Family Battle: First off, I have to mention how hot it was when Adam, preparing to 'take' Heather right there on the sofa at the Ranch, whispered throatily, "I want you." Thrills and chills! Mr. Fussbudget is getting some smackdown from his half-siblings this week though. I'm thinking he's pushed them a little too far, and his fancy butt may be headed back to the Club! Not to mention he's going to be answering to Victoria at work! I'm anxious to see what he comes back with though - if he's anything like the Mustache (and we know he is) he won't take this sitting down!

Summing up, there have been some terrific 'close' moments between characters this week (think Amber and Jana at the wedding) that add so much to the show. Also, the comedy is divine - I love the Fisher/Baldwin clan to distraction! The mystery surrounding Victor's disappearance is going well so far, and we all want to slap the stuffing out of Chloe - still! I'm hopeful that Brad's storyline will continue to pick up steam (perhaps from a shower scene? Joking…). I'm loving the real conflicts developing, but am definitely tiring of some of the female characters constantly sniping irritably at others - it's a poor substitute for developing a complicated depth to the character's personality and does women in general no justice - it is just truly wearing thin!

Can't wait for the rest of the Kevin & Jana nuptials on Monday! See you all there!

Remember, leave a comment or your own rant whether you agree with my thoughts or not! It's all in fun, and I love to read your posts!

Oh Can-dance, Can-dance, Can-dance... another nice rant!

What stupefies me is how some of the stories are getting written SO right, and others SO WRONG! Loving:
- the Javin nuptials (what an absolute HOOT!), and the discovery of Lowell as the guru @ the ashram! I can just SEE Michael squirming to get out of that tunic and back into the comfortable confines of a coat and tie - and I rely solely on updates for my Y&R action!
- the Danber saga. I could smack the stuffing out of Colleen for chasing after Daniel. Get a grip already, Colleen - your Brad genes are showing! BTW: How did I EVER become Amgrr's champion?!
- the NE end of things. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that the Board decided to bring Victoria in to be CEO. I personally would have LOVED to have heard of (maybe I'd even tune in!) specifically what the Board was saying about who should be in charge, and why they were placing their confidence in Vix - DESPITE the fact that SHE left the company and went to work for Jabot! Now as for putting her in charge of Victor's personal property... I'm a little suspect of that scenario. Don't know whether that would pass a legal smell test... I guess it depends on how Victor owns his property, but it wouldn't make sense to me to consider his home an asset of NE. Michael, I hope, is squirming to get back to GC to give legal spin to that stuff (and here I thought he was just squirming from the tunic...)

HATE HATE HATE
- the Cane/Lily/Chloe stuff. Whither goest the scribes' common sense? Methinks the bards lack sensibility in modern medical procedures, not to mention modern ideas of paternal responsibility!
- that high horse that Jill is riding on. I'm not sure if she's still so guilt-ridden over missing Cane's childhood that she feels compelled to hand him Jabot on a silver platter even though he can't remember where he's parked his ... uh, package? If Jabot stock took a nosedive on the news of David Chow's demise, the way to restor investor confidence is NOT to appoint your son who has little experience in business of this level, MUCH LESS the company (especially when compared to others in Jabot's employ).
- Mr. and Mrs. Stepford... uh, I mean Jack and Sharon. Things moved slowly @ RS in the latter half of the week, and I'm glad, because the constant snarkfest there is turning into a black hole. And frankly, I put Jack's behavior - and Sharon's blind endorsement of it - squarely at fault for it.
- the lack of Karen's presence in GC. Come ON! You brought her back from NYC for THIS?! Set her up with Brad. He needs a smart, sophisticated, no-nonsense woman to have a shower with (mmm...shirtless Brad...)

OK. I'm done ranting... I think? Thanks again, Candace!

Regarding the Cane & Chloe situation: Since Cane was unconscious when Chloe had sex with him, Cane should be charging her with RAPE! If the same had happened to a woman, she would have called the cops immediately!! Also I think Chloe tampered with the letter from the lab changing the results from negative to positve. Cane and Lilly should have called the lab to confirm the results. Also, Chloe knew she was already pregnant BEFORE she had sex with Cane. Maybe the real father is Mr.Booty Call she was on her cell phone talking to??

Hey Candace, what is going on with the Y&R? Why you got Cane so dump? People don't get marry for that reason no more. they just support their kid some of them do...lol I hope Cane do go to the doctor with her so he can ask the question but knowing him he don't even remember when he slept in the car. Candace you have to help us with this Cane and Lily.. and Devon wanted Lily also so he need to keep quite. You got to give him some kind of brain he is the CEO. I love what you doing to Adam....great!!!!

You are right on with your thoughts. Personally I hope I never have to see Colleen on another episode. She is just annoying. It broke my heart to see how easily Lily, Neil and Devon turned on Cane. I can understand everyone being upset about the DNA report, but they just accepted that Cane was the father and didnt even question if there were any other possibilities. I grew to like Lily & Cane together, but with the Winters family attitude he might be better off without them. I'm sure when it eventually comes out that Cane isnt the father that Neil and Devon will not feel too much remorse on how they treated Cane. Thanks also for your comments on the Phyllis/Sharon bickering. Both of them are really annoying and need we mention hypocrites. I really really like the calm sinister Victor. You know he's got some payback planned for those responsible for Sabrina's death. I hated the screaming/abusive person he turned into and hope the writers are changing that.

Glad Michael found his Dad, hope he is a good man!
Wish Colleen would get lost!

Well put Candance... I stopped watching Y&R I hate the storyline surrounding Cane, Lily and Chloe. Y&R did storyline already such as this one with Scott and Sheila, Danny and Phyllis why repeat this.

I love Daniel and Amber they are good together. I don't get why Colleen is so upset didn't she dumped JT to be with Adrian then went on to dump Adrian.. my my why so bitter Colleen????

I am also glad Victoria will be running Newman but I am wondering what will happen when Victor returns.. will be kick her out of Newman since she was the one that quit.

Neil, Tyra, Ana, Devon and Karen I would like to see how this all works out for them.

Jack, Gloria and Jeffrey... I say move on with the Facecream storyline.. lock up Jeffrey and Gloria. Better yet sending them packing along with Chloe.

The new Noah I don't get why they brought him back in his teens... what happened to Esther's daughter that went off to boarding school she should be in her early or late 20s.. bring her back also Nina son Phillip.. Scott Lauren's first son. Also wondering will they also age Abby since she is on B&B.

Candace~~~Your Restless Rant is so RIGHT ON !!!!
I'm lovin Keven & Jana. They are adorable.
And Michael's facial expressions....just keep surprising me!
Gloria & Jeffrey just go together. They make me laugh!!
And everybody knows what I think of the "Chloe" mess! Yes, I could knock the stuffing out of her too!
I just adore watching Lily & Cane together. They are magical together.
I'm anxiously awaiting the ceremony Monday.
Thanx Candace....you're great!!!

Really disappointed with the Cane and Lily storyline...why is Chloe getting so much of the upperhand and getting her way? Why is Lily portrayed as such a spineless idiot? And why is Cane NOT more upset about this Chloe situation and have genetic experts work with him to tell him that he is not the father, but a relative (i.e., brother/Billy, cousin, etc), could be as well. And then take those results, fly Billy home, do the tests again, and get CONCLUSIVE evidence that Chloe is not pregnant with Cane's child? I don't understand it...all of those Chancellor billions and not even Katherine has thought of this! The writing needs to improve...PRONTO!

How did Cane go from it's not by baby to marrying Chloe. Somebody needs to get this right. Also, how can Lily just walk away from Cane so easily. She needs to grow some backbone. When the truth finally comes out (and I hope that it is soon), Cane should want nothing to do with Lily because she so easily jumped shipped too fast. What's with Colleen dating Lily (her BFF ex-husband)? If it were Lily dating Adrian, Colleen would have a fit. This is not good writing for Y&R. They need to fix this.
