Raya Meddine, the beautiful actress who plays Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) new wife, Sabrina, has been let go from the show after only about five months. The actress joined the show in February 2008 as the best friend of Victor’s daughter, Victoria (Amelia Heinle), who had come to town to visit on her way to set up a new life in New York City.

No final airdate has been announced for the character of Sabrina, but as Soaps.com has reported earlier, previews show her involved in a tragedy that will unfold at the time of the Charity Ball.

Raya had signed a three-year contract, but there is a pervasive feeling in the soap community that her character, Sabrina, never quite caught on with viewers of Y&R, particularly when writers paired her so quickly with much-older mega-millionaire, Victor Newman. Since Sabrina also recently announced that she is expecting, viewers have been waiting to see if the scribes will address the fact that Victor is well-known to have had a vasectomy, and therefore, is the baby she is carrying actually his?

According to media reports, writers for the show are aware that fans are antsy about this complication, and are working on addressing it.

Soaps.com would like to wish Raya all the best in her future endeavors. Here’s hoping she’ll turn up in the soap world again soon, as she is certainly a wonderful actress!

If he did have a vasectomy, there have been cases where women have still got pregnant. Most cases have been around the seven year mark, so we can't rule that out... My opinion, I don't think they should let her go. I loved watching even more since Sabrina and Victor got together. His family wanted to see him alone, now he have someone they aren't happy and the writers want to write her out, well this fan is NOT HAPPY.

I think it was a good idea to pair Victor up with someone with his intellect. Raya speaks very well and is very classy. Nicky and Victor's relationship is washed up. I would hate to see them back together. I think the writers need to keep her and get rid of some of the other washed up actresses.

THAT REALLY STINKS!!!
I enjoyed her character even though I thought the story line with Victor was a bit much I really like her!
I agree the writers missed the mark with her story line it is a shame that she has to lose her job in the process

What took you so long in letting her go. So long and good luck. You are a great actress but you do not belong here. You need to find where you belong. You should have remained Vickie's friend but to pair you up with your best friend's father was a bit over the top. I believe that is when the viewers lost interest in your character especially so quickly. Victor Newman is such a cautious man and would never let anyone in that soon without checking them out thoroughly.

Thank god she is leaving because it is gross that she is so young with an very older man. Victor and nikki should get back together now. Please dont bring her back in no other way!!

I was really enjoying Sabrina and Victor. She is very beautiful. Her role was unrealistic and I guest the writers realized it. What ever the writers decide, please do not bring her back as a ghost.

I personally am glad they are deleting her from the show. I never really cared for her character. She did not have the special flair for Victor. How someone hurt a friend by marrying that friend's much older father? Furthermore, I do not believe the child she is trying to push off on Victor is his.

I like Sabrina because she brought out the best in Victor! Please keep her on the show! Also put Daniel & Colleen together; I can't wait for Thursday's episode.

Victor Newman knows everyone that is in his circle, he does his checks, why wouldn’t people think that he would have done his research on Sabrina. All the months Paul spent finding out about David Chow, Victor found out with one phone call. If you can rehire some people, rehire Sabrina.

This is a shame. I did not like her at first, but then I really started to like her. Her scenes with Victor are some of the few times that I do not do a fast forward when he is on. And I was starting to get into her storyline. Maybe whatever happens is a direct result of the story Jack put in Restless Style, and he will have to take a hard look at the consequences his actions have.
