The Daytime Emmy Pre-noms are in!

Every year we wait patiently to see which one of our favorite shows, and soap opera actors, are nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award. Well, Soaps.com readers, by now we all know the drill, and though we have to wait a bit longer for the official nominees, which will be announced in April, we are happy to bring you the Daytime Emmy Awards for this year!

First, what are pre-noms?

We’ve had a few emails asking just what the pre-noms are, so for those who aren’t exactly certain how things work, behind the scenes, we’ll provide a brief note below on how things work!

If an actor wants to put in their name to be nominated for a daytime Emmy, they’ll first decide to which category they belong. Lead actor? Lead actress? After they’ve decided, each show puts all these names into a pool, and they decide internally, on who will be chosen for the nominations.

Incidentally, an actor could have worked once, to be nominated by his peers, or she could have worked on a hundred episodes. There is no criterion set as to how often they would have to work in order to put up their name for an Emmy.

I think Craig Montgomery was great this year!
I am disappointed that he was not nominated for something
on the AS THE WORLD TURNS soap opera. Maybe next year! Keep up
the good work, Craig! I can defintely relate to your emotions. You have feelings, too. I have read everything about you; I can't believe your sisters are (more or less)
disowning you. Everyone makes mistakes and wants a second
chance in life. I know this is only a soap; but I believe
you deserve an award for attempting to change things around.

I would have to disagree with CUPIDOLL, that Alicia Minshew (Kendall Slater AMC) does not deserve an Emmy nominee, you are wrong, I think she was cheated last year out of an Emmy, she did an an amazing job when both her babies were in hospital, so I do hope she is recognized and not over looked this year.

On the outstanding younger Actor I don't understand how Brytan Mclure could be nominated when we haven't even seen him on screen? Kevin Schmidt should win this one. Brytan is good don't get me wrong but, if he has been on it's only been for about 30 seconds.

Congratulations to all my ABC favorites!!! Although overlooking Steve Burton was a big mistake because he was excellent! To Bree Williamson, who I told at last year's fan club luncheon that they better nominate her for her excellent acting during her final scenes with Nash....congratulations, you deserve it this nomination!

i am disappointed that sharon case did not get nominated.she had great scenes lately esp. when she was angry at Jack and shoved him and she has gone loco. Melody scott thomas deserved a nod when she got drunk in Mexico and was reminiscing about Victor last year when he disappeared.

I wish they had nominated kate howard(megan ward) for general hospital.
