Previously Reported on March 2:

The Daytime Emmy Pre-noms are in!

Every year we wait patiently to see which one of our favorite shows, and soap opera actors, are nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award. Well, Soaps.com readers, by now we all know the drill, and though we have to wait a bit longer for the official nominees, which will be announced in April, we are happy to bring you the Daytime Emmy Awards for this year!

First, what are pre-noms?

We’ve had a few emails asking just what the pre-noms are, so for those who aren’t exactly certain how things work, behind the scenes, we’ll provide a brief note below on how things work!

If an actor wants to put in their name to be nominated for a daytime Emmy, they’ll first decide to which category they belong. Lead actor? Lead actress? After they’ve decided, each show puts all these names into a pool, and they decide internally, on who will be chosen for the nominations.

Incidentally, an actor could have worked once, to be nominated by his peers, or she could have worked on a hundred episodes. There is no criterion set as to how often they would have to work in order to put up their name for an Emmy.

I am pleasantly surprised to see Ronn Moss (B & B) as a nominee this year. I think he has made great strides over the years as "Ridge" and has been given some good storylines over the past year. And I'm also happy to see CJL and Peter Bergman in the running again. But out of all of them, my beloved Smilin' Jack (Peter Bergman) ALWAYS has my vote...no matter what!!!

But would someone PLEASE explain to he how the holy-heck Bryton McClure made the cut again??? Devon is the most irritating and anal character in that show. He is horrible! He always has some sort of chip on his shoulder, and never smiles. He is just NOT a likeable character and I don't see how he managed to be nominated. We've barely seen him all year except in passing; he has done NOTHING to deserve that Emmy! I would vote for Mick Hazen (Parker). He is a wonderful young actor!

I get why all the nominees are selected except for one. Alisha Mishew as Kendall Slater. I do not feel that she has earned an Emmy. Why not, because I don't feel her as "in character", rather Alisha is still "acting the part". Physically, she is absolutely beautiful, but a convincing actress, NO. Sorry.

I gotta say, I'm really disappointed about most of those noms for DAYS and ATWT!

Posted by ryleeaileeronikfan at Tuesday, March 03 2009 03:08 PM

I'm disgusted that Kimberly McCullough wasn't pre-nominated!! She deserved to be nominated as a Lead Actress WAYYYYYYYYYYYY more than Sarah Brown (no offense to her because I actually ADORE her as the perfectly flawed and grey Claudia)!!!

I am not happy with the pre-noms for the Young and the Restless!

For Lead actor..CBL? He is a very great actor but this was NOT his best year! He had some really great scenes this year but those few scenes and he gets a pre-nom? I AM VERY happy that Peter got it..just wish Eric Braden..got it too.

As for the rest of the pre-noms for Lead Actor..I am very content with them!

Lead Actress-For lead actress I'm sorry but Jeanne Cooper.I was happy that she won last year(even though I was rooting for Michelle Stafford). She deserved AN emmy BUT I think either Melody Thomas Scott(has she ever won an Emmy??),Sharon Case or Michelle Stafford should have taken her place this year.
I am VERY HAPPY that Laura Wright and Sarah Brown are nominated!

But for Days....Arianne Zuker and should have been the Days' pick for LEAD actress.Lauren had a great year but I'd want her for supporting actress and Renee not really for Lead. She had a good storyline with Theo and the autism but I think she had better years when her acting was really GREAT.

I'm very HAPPY that Bruce Weitz and Bradford Anderson GOT PRE-NOMS. I think Bruce should have been one of the Lead actor but I'm just glad he got nominated.

The younger pre-noms is what I'm really happy about.
Days' Molly and Rachel should both be nominated(and I would love for either to win it!)(Maybe Rachel since this is her last year...but Molly is TALENTED!!!)
I am very happy Farah Fath and Kristen Alderson MADE IT too.Why hasn't Kristen won yet?
Blake Berris did really great this year!(I love Darin too.)
Someone I think who should not be up there...Jacqueline MacInnes Wood from BB.(Sorry but her "acting" annoys me..)

I'm kind of sad that Kimberly McCullough didn't get pre-nominated for supporting actress. She should have been up there with the lady that plays Diane.

Overall:Days better have some wins this year,YR should not have any except maybe lead actor for Peter Bergman.GH should also have some...too.
