Murphy was a friend of Katherine Chancellor's lookalike, Marge. He was a regular at the diner where she worked.

Murphy had taken Marge in when she lost her apartment and went on a bender.

Unbeknownst to Murphy, Marge called Katherine and picked her up at Murphy's trailer to take her to rehab. They were in a car wreck, and Murphy found Katherine unconscious - believing her to be Marge. He brought her home and nursed her back to health.

Now Murphy is falling for Katherine and helping her prove that she is not Marge!

Monday, November 23 2009: To Me, That's Not What It Is!

Katherine gets home and enthusiastically greets Murphy who is back from catching fish. Chloe comes into the room and jokes with Murphy that two little eyes were looking out at her from beside the ice cream! He goes off to shower, and Chloe discusses Billy and Mac's breakup with Katherine. She says that Chance thought her reaction was inappropriate and now she's probably getting dumped too. Katherine tells her that her flippant attitude is the source of her problems with Chance - she uses it to hide from him. Chloe notes that she's been doting on Chance all week. Kay says that was until Billy came along - she asks her what she really wants?! Katherine says Chance may be in love with her, but he demands total honesty from her. Katherine says it's sad for her to use sarcasm to hide from the one thing she really wants.

Murphy comes into the Chancellor living room after Chloe has gone. He sits down with Katherine and they discuss Phillip leaving. Kay muses that Chance admires him for what he's doing. They discuss Chance and Chloe. Murphy says some girls always go for the bad boy. Kay laughs and says she used to be one of them! Murphy doesn't get it. Katherine says it's just the feeling of being needed, or of feeling superior to the person you're with. Murphy asks if Katherine's younger self would have fallen for him. She says sadly she wouldn't have - it's experience that taught her to recognize the right man for her. They head upstairs.

Monday, November 16 2009: No Regrets.

On the rooftop, Nick arrives at the wedding after getting a text from Phyllis. Daniel, overjoyed at his marriage, embraces Phyllis, saying, "I love you, Mom!" Over his shoulder, Phyllis gives a strange look to Amber, who's saying, "Yeah, Mom!" Michael then appears, and Kevin puts on a square dancing song. Murphy, inspired by the music, instructs everyone to join hands in a circle, then calls the square dance steps! Laughter and awkward partner exchanges ensue. On the table sits a large gift - the tag reads, "To Lauren." Murphy next makes a toast - everyone raises their glasses - Phyllis raises a whole bottle! Nick then makes a toast too. Daniel goes to get more champagne, and Amber follows. Kevin and Katherine chat as they dance - she invites him to come and work for her at Chancellor. Kevin is pleased. Jana grabs him to help move the presents - they notice the one for Lauren. Lauren and Michael lift the lid of the box together - they scream and jump back - it's a black rat! Nick gets it and takes it down to the alley. Everyone decides to go, telling Amber and Daniel, who have returned with more champagne that it's time for them to start their life together. Once alone, Amber and Daniel toast.
