Half Drunk on Scotch, Half Drunk on Attention!

Thursday, December 31 2009

At the Chancellor Estate, Jill, Kay and the others wait for midnight and joke about Delia having to keep them up next year. Chance and Chloe can't wait for midnight and share a kiss.

Billy and his father arrive in the Chancellor living room, where Delia is dressed up and the whole family is with her. Billy asks where he is, and John explains that he alienated himself from the family by exploiting them in Restless Style. John also points out that Chance is good with Delia. Billy scoffs that he can be happy for Mac, and proud of his daughter. John reiterates what Mac said about him in the bar - he's half drunk on scotch, and half drunk on attention.

At the Chancellor Estate, preparations for Delia's wedding are underway. Chance greets Chloe and tells her how beautiful she looks. Jill remarks that Esther's been blubbering since the rehearsal dinner. Katherine says she's giving the kids a house. Delia comes into the room and Chloe produces a baby photo, which Delia jokes should go into a drawer. Kay gives her heirloom earrings. Lily gives her something as well, and Delia notes that she was there when she was born. She reflects that her dad was there too, but isn't now. John tells Billy that he was a lovable screw-up who became a screw-up. When Chance tells Delia he's there for her, and they practice their father/daughter dance together, Billy asks John why he's doing this to him, and cries as he pleads with him to help him fix this.

Billy sees Chloe sitting in at the dining room table in the Chancellor Estate looking at the baby picture of Delia and him. She talks to the photo, telling Billy that the reason she told Cane he was the father was because she knew she couldn't count on him. She muses that he seemed to love Delia for a while, but here it is the most important day of her life and she's aching because he's not there. Billy begs Chloe to tell Delia he loves her, but she can't hear him. John tells Billy he's nothing but a bad memory to her.

At the Chancellor Estate, Chloe and Chance kiss again, and Jill, Katherine, Murphy, and Esther come into the room ringing bells to welcome the New Year!

Not Going Anywhere!

Billy shows up at the door to the Chancellor Estate. Kay is reluctant to let him in, given how his last visit went. Chloe, then Murphy, comes to the door. Murphy warns that he'd better be sober. Billy acknowledges that his last visit left something to be desired. They agree to let him come in and see Delia. Once in the living room, Chloe gives Billy a present from Delia. She and Chance recall how she had everyone in the store smiling. Billy glares at Chance. As the visit continues, Chance comes over and takes Delia from Billy - he watches as Chance and Chloe interact. His friend phones to invite him to a party, and Billy tells them he's leaving - big plans! Outside the door, Billy tells his friend that he's just not in the mood for a party tonight.
