A Good Day For a Haunting!

Thursday, November 20 2008

Amber and Daniel arrive at the Chancellor home and are greeted by Esther. Danny and Gina come in and Gina begs Daniel to try and get Danny to stay for a few more days, but Danny says he can't. Billy comes through the door next and is warmly greeted by Cane. Just as Mitchell Sherman asks everyone to have a seat, Gloria and Jeffrey blow into the room. Jill looks outraged! Mitchell begins to read the will. She leaves Brock 1% of her estate in trust so that he may continue his good works, and he is also named Chairman of the Chancellor Foundation. Danny and Gina get one half of 1% of her estate in cash as her stepchildren, and she leaves Esther enough money to live the rest of her life in comfort as well as her entire 50% ownership of the Chancellor Estate! Esther nearly faints, and Nikki calls for water. Billy smirks at Jill, "Mom, you may be in the market for a new maid!" Jill takes Mitchell aside and says that Katherine must have been drunk when she made the changes, but Mitchell tells her it's ironclad and Katherine was certainly not impaired! He continues the reading of the will, telling Nikki, that as someone who Kay thought of as a daughter, she has been left Katherine's jewelry and her mother's ring - a family heirloom!

Still in the Chancellor living room, Mitchell details how Billy and Cane will receive one-quarter each of her estate. Amber and Daniel are given enough money to fund their respective ventures, and Amber also gets sole rights to Katherine's memoirs! Jill jumps out of her seat in protest, but Mitchell cuts her off, saying that Jill has been left the remainder of the estate, and all but 5% of her Jabot shares. He then turns to Gloria and tells her she has been left a priceless vase that was a gift from John, as well as the remaining 5% of her Jabot shares - in honor of John's memory! Jill turns to Cane in panic, and Jeff and Gloria beam! As they all rise from their seats, Daniel asks Amber if she's going to publish the memoirs, but she says she wonders if she should bring more upset to the family. Danny comes over and says goodbye. Brock wanders over and says he'd like to know more about the memoirs. They all share a laugh. Across the room, Jeff purrs at Gloria that she's never looked hotter than she does right now. Jill comes over and asks what she did to make Katherine give her the shares. Gloria says that Kay genuinely liked her! Billy takes Jill away, telling her that if he had inherited what she just did, he'd be dancing on the table right now! Jill goes after Amber before she can leave - she informs her that she won't have her capitalizing on Katherine's memoirs and if she tries to print it, she'll fight her every step of the way. Amber tells Daniel she's going to make it her life's mission to print them now! Nikki is next to leave, telling Jill that she hopes she doesn't mind Katherine giving her the jewelry. Jill rudely tells her that her life's such a mess, how could she mind. Esther kindly tells Nikki she can still come to the house to visit her. Jill goes back into the living room and notes to Cane that they're very vulnerable without that stock! It then dawns on Jill that she is no longer answering to Katherine and can do whatever she wants!

I've Been Expecting You!

Tuesday, November 18 2008

Nina sits with Esther at the bar and asks if she's going to retire now. Esther says she can't think past today. Nina says it's not like Jill will throw her stuff out on the lawn, and Esther replies, "Wanna' bet?!" Traci and Lauren catch up nearby, and Lauren shows her a picture of Fen. Traci laughs, saying that this may be the most pleasant conversation they've ever had! Lauren feels bad, taking responsibility for treating her cruelly when they were kids. She says she was like the girls in the movie, "Mean Girls!" They agree that Katherine was an amazing woman, and Lauren says she likes to think that she's a better person now, but she couldn't believe that until she looked Traci in the eye and apologized to her. Traci says Katherine would be proud of her, and they hug. Phyllis is also at the bar when Brad approaches. He smirks and says, "So, Big Daddy's home!" Phyllis listens to what he has to say, and quickly realizes that he's given Victor to the cops! As she looks for Nick to fill him in, she sees him speaking with Sharon, who is recounting the conversation with Lauren. Nick tells her they will have to get together with Michael and Lauren and discuss it again. They hug, and Phyllis's eyes grow wide. Phyllis watches as Sharon moves away from Nick and is approached by Brad, who asks how she's doing. Brad then embraces Sharon as Phyllis shakes her head in disbelief. Nick goes over to Paul and Nikki, and suggests that they get Nikki home.

This Should Be Good!

At Katherine's funeral, Victor has just caused a sensation by walking in and sitting down next to Ashley. She tells Victor that everyone is staring and he says, "Let them." The organ music begins and Danny asks Nina why she's not sitting with the Chancellors. Nina laughs, saying she'll stick with the people who like her, noting Jill will never forgive her for marrying Philip. Amber whispers to Daniel that his mother asked her to call a truce, and Jack glowers at the back of Victor's head! Brock goes to the front of the church to deliver the eulogy. He tells them they are there to celebrate the life of this most extraordinary woman. His voice breaks, but he continues, saying that she was a loving mother, great friend, she supported charities and would roll up her sleeves and serve food to the poor. He describes other things she did for the community. He calls her a 'classy lady' and an 'angel on Earth', who is now an angel in heaven. Dina asks Traci where Colleen is, but Traci says she wasn't feeling well. Dina complains that she wanted to see her, but Traci informs her mother that she could see her anytime. Jack asks Traci if she knew Victor was coming - she says she had no idea. Brad, whispers from behind Jack, "This ought to be good." Jack grits his teeth. Just then, Liz Foster, the woman who raised Jill, arrives and Jill jumps up to embrace her. Outside the door, Gloria and Jeff come in, with her complaining that they're late, and him cursing the parking!

Brock continues the service by leading the guests in The Lord's Prayer. Victoria and Nick and their families whisper about Victor's return and wonder if he'll be arrested when the funeral ends. Michael and Lauren arrive and take a pew behind Neil, who tells Michael not to fall out of his seat, but Victor's there - sitting next to Ashley Abbott! Jeffrey smirks, saying, "Who says there's no good theater in this town!" As Brock keeps telling about "the Duchess", Lily watches Cane, and Ashley turns in her seat to look at Jack. He gives her an incredulous look!

Liz Foster gets up to speak about Katherine at the funeral. She says next to Brock, she knew Katherine longer than anyone there. She notes how she kept house for her long ago, and she never treated her like a second-class citizen. She explains that Katherine had character in spades. Everyone who met her had a chance to prove their mettle or fall flat on their face. Billy gets up next, he says he grew up not realizing that Katherine was his grandmother, but she was the wisest woman he ever met. Cane gets up and says from the moment he met Katherine she embraced him, and their time together was too short, but it made him a better person. Amber speaks next, and says it's hard for her to make friends because she is pushy and loud, but Katherine accepted her for who she was, and in spite of the age difference, they were kindred souls. She says Katherine is the woman she wants to be someday. Esther moves to the front next and says she doesn't even know how to express what Katherine meant to her. She tells a funny story about how Katherine made her drive once, and she side-swiped two cars. Mrs. C took her in her arms and told her everyone makes mistakes. Esther sobs as she says, "I'm going to miss that wonderful woman. I love you Mrs. C!"

Jill is next to speak at the funeral. She speaks of their complicated relationship. She says that despite their differences, they loved each other. She says she made a mistake in thinking that she'd always be there, and she would always have a chance to apologize. She says she hopes that she is looking down on her right now and hearing her words. Jill then reads a poem. Brock returns to the front, and as he speaks, everyone in the church thinks private thoughts and prays for different things. Many of them wish for those who have already passed to take care of Katherine, some wish for strength to deal with their personal situations, Traci wishes Ashley luck with Victor, and Jeffrey checks Dina out! Devon and Ana sing Amazing Grace as everyone lines up to place a rose on the casket and say goodbye. Victor files out holding Ashley's hand without acknowledging anyone. Nikki collapses across the casket and is led away by Paul. Michael approaches Nicholas and asks where Victor went. Nick tells him that he's already gone. "He had a car waiting."

Oops, It's Not My Funeral!

At the Chancellor Mansion, Jill asks Chloe kindly how her grandchild is doing. She calls Billy and Cane over to talk to her and says that they need to talk about the will and the business. They are hesitant, but Jill says it's necessary to face it. She announces that she will step into Katherine's shoes immediately and they will both be her right hands! Billy says, "Oh, so I guess I'm getting a promotion!" Cane says the remark was uncalled for, and Jill jumps in to say that until she gets everything sorted out she won't know the role each of them will play. She vows not to make them feel that they can't live up to her expectations, like Katherine did with her. Suddenly, Brock comes in. Jill runs into his arms, saying she's so glad he made it in time. He greets Billy, telling them that Mac couldn't make it, but sends her love to them all. He meets Cane, and remembers 'Kate', who tells him that she changed her name to Chloe. Brock tells Jill that he just spoke to their mother a week ago, and she sounded fine! Jill sobs that she just wishes she had gotten her to see the neurologist sooner! They leave for the service.

At the church, Brock, Jill, Esther, and Chloe are at the front near the casket. Esther assures Chloe that Katherine knew she appreciated the things she did for her. Brock wishes he had come home more often, and Jill wishes she had had time to apologize. Just then, Nina comes in and hugs Brock, saying she's sorry for his loss. Jill turns and greets her too. She asks if Philip is with her, but Nina says he's still in Iraq. Esther spots Nina next and embraces her tearfully. Nina spots Cane, and Esther tells her who he is. Nina notes that he's cute, but he's no Philip. As a lightheaded Nikki enters with Nick, Victoria and their families, Marge's ghost appears again. She looks around wondering who all these people are, and why they're not playing the Perry Como music she wanted at her funeral. She spots Esther and realizes that it's not her funeral - it's for Katherine Chancellor!

Busted!

At the Chancellor Mansion, Jack is expressing his condolences to Esther. He goes to leave and encounters Phyllis at the door. He asks to speak with her for a moment privately, and wants to know if she knew that Nick was in Paris with Sharon. Phyllis simply says, "Yes," and pushes past him into the house, saying she needs to spend some time with Esther.
