Over his shoulder, Phyllis gives a strange look to Amber, who's saying, "Yeah, Mom!" Michael then appears, and Kevin puts on a square dancing song. Murphy, inspired by the music, instructs everyone to join hands in a circle, then calls the square dance steps! Laughter and awkward partner exchanges ensue. On the table sits a large gift - the tag reads, "To Lauren." Murphy next makes a toast - everyone raises their glasses - Phyllis raises a whole bottle! Nick then makes a toast too. Daniel goes to get more champagne, and Amber follows. Kevin and Katherine chat as they dance - she invites him to come and work for her at Chancellor. Kevin is pleased. Jana grabs him to help move the presents - they notice the one for Lauren. Lauren and Michael lift the lid of the box together - they scream and jump back - it's a black rat! Nick gets it and takes it down to the alley. Everyone decides to go, telling Amber and Daniel, who have returned with more champagne that it's time for them to start their life together. Once alone, Amber and Daniel toast.
In their apartment, Amber is in sexy lingerie and she and Daniel start getting amorous. Amber is delighted that Jana's prediction didn't come true - nothing bad happened!
On their rooftop, Amber and Daniel discuss what they'll need to pull off an instant wedding. Suddenly, Katherine appears and asks if she's interrupting. She gets involved in the wedding planning - and winds up agreeing to marry them! Daniel runs off to tell Kevin and Jana, and Kay tells Amber to call Lauren for a dress.
At Crimson Lights, Jana is horrified to hear Daniel announce that he will be marrying Amber on Friday the 13th! Ryder stands by as Kevin reassures her that everything will be fine. Daniel, Jana, and Kevin leave. Gloria walks in. Ryder tells her that Kevin's gone, but it's a good time for them to talk. Ryder tells Gloria that he's nothing like Tom, even though he raised him. He understands that it will take time for her to trust him. Suddenly, Ryder spots Deacon. He goes over and murmurs that Daniel's marrying Amber - tonight on his rooftop. Just then, Phyllis comes in. Deacon offer congratulations, and tells her what he just heard. Phyllis takes off. Ryder then tells Gloria that he needs to run an errand and asks her to watch the counter. Deacon meanders over to Glo, who says she's surprised he's still hanging around. Deacon says she'd be surprised how much this town still has to offer him.
On the roof, Jana and Amber decorate, and Katherine and Daniel check out her new online credentials. Murphy and Kevin help set up, and Lauren appears with Amber's dress. Jana, Amber, and Lauren disappear inside, and Kay chuckles about becoming a minister. Everyone takes their positions before long, and Murphy brings Amber out on his arm. Katherine begins the ceremony. Suddenly, Phyllis bursts onto the roof and asks if she's too late?! She wonders what happened to June? She tells Daniel she can't let him do this. Amber tries to reassure Phyllis, telling her she and Daniel are best friends, and that she respects him and appreciates him. Phyllis, in a daze, agrees to stay for the ceremony. Lauren puts her arm around her. Katherine calls for the rings - they have to improvise, since they forgot. Katherine says she has never once doubted that Amber and Daniel belong together. Amber says heartfelt vows as Phyllis holds her head and Jana looks around ominously. Daniel says shorter vows, and then Katherine pronounces them husband and wife. Everyone applauds, and Lauren drags Phyllis over to congratulate them. Someone watching from a distance smashes a pair of binoculars on the ground!
At home, Daniel tells Amber that Michael called and told him that Ryder has an airtight alibi for the night of the murder. Amber angrily remarks that Deacon must have something to do with it. Daniel stops her from running off to confront him, and says he can't marry her if there's a chance he could spend the next twenty years in jail! Amber says he must not trust her love for him. Their argument becomes heated. He hollers that he won't marry her and let her waste her life with him in jail! Amber holds up her engagement ring and yells back. She throws the ring at him and storms out! Daniel tries to call her, but realizes that she left her cellphone there.
Daniel arrives at the Chancellor Estate looking for Amber. Kay invites him in, and he admits they had a fight. Katherine says she'll let her know he's looking for her if she sees her. He's worried about her being in the cold. He heads to Crimson Lights, the bookstore, and Mac's bar as well.

Tears come into her eyes, and she then remembers his marriage proposal. Daniel finally finds her, and puts his jacket around her shoulders. Daniel looks into Amber's eyes, puts her engagement ring back on her finger, and says he doesn't want to live another day without her - he asks her to marry him that night!

Michael says he'll try. Michael walks over to Ryder, saying they need to talk about his case. Ryder blows him off, and Michael snaps, and crumples his newspaper. Ryder tells him he didn't kill anybody. Michael says he needs to prove it. Ryder says he can't prove it. He tells Michael he was in Chicago on the night of the murder, but no one saw him and he threw out his receipts. He reluctantly gives Michael the make and model of the car he was driving.
