Phyllis and Nick arrive at Newman Enterprises in mid discussion about whether or not Victor could have killed Ji Min. Nick remarks that his father thinks Jack did it... Meanwhile, Ben and Jack are conferring at the Abbott house. Ben asks Jack what his plans are for the future. Jack retorts, "Gee dad, do I have to decide right now?" Ben urges him to write a book, but Jack declines to journal the falling apart of his life. Sharon comes into the room and announces that she has a meeting regarding a new campaign - with Brad! Jack nervously sees Sharon out the door. He then tells Ben that he still has his fears about whether their marriage will survive. Ben assures Jack that Sharon must love him - after all he put her through, most women would have left! Jack distractedly agrees, but thinks back to seeing her holding hands with Brad at the Club the previous day.
Ben warns Jack that it looks bad that he hasn't issued a statement to the press yet! Sharon comes in and ignores Jack, saying hello only to Ben. When Jack asks about Noah and offers to pick him up, she says 'no thanks'. Jack tells her he went back out to the ranch last night and she wasn't there - she tells him she was with Brad! Jack tells her he is glad she has someone she can confide in! She rolls her eyes and says, "He's my friend!" When Jack breaks the news to her that he has to resign or risk impeachment she blurts, "This sucks!" She then reminds him that he did it to himself, with his lies, "Did you ever stop to think about Noah having to deal with this?!" She asks why he constantly gives into his selfishness. When Jack tries to explain, she says she just can't listen to it! She tells Ben to stay and help Jack - because she can't!
At the Abbott house, Ben takes the brunt of Jack's frustration. Jack shouts at him to go get a statement from someone else and leave him alone! Once Jack comes down, he grudgingly apologizes to Ben and tells him he is still struggling with the idea that Gloria of all people, brought an end to his political career! Ben offers to continue to fight for him. Jack appreciates his loyalty and the fact that he's always been straight with him. He tells Ben to set up a press conference - he's made a decision!
Sharon arrives home and Jack tells her he has looked at all the choices and has made the only one that is right for them - he will be resigning. She tells him that it's a step in the right direction. He steps toward her and she tells him to back off! Doing one thing right will not fix them! He asks her to come and stand by his side at his last press conference.
Back at the hearing, Gloria is telling reporters that she always knew something was fishy about that will. As she continues to answer questions, Michael appears and makes her clam up! They meet up with Lauren and Kevin - who is gloating along with Gloria. As Jack comes out of the courtroom, Gloria turns and insults him, Jack then replies, "You can take the hooker out of the gutter.." But is cut off by Kevin who flies across at him, "Don't you talk that way to my mother!" Michael steps in and has a few words with Jack, before Gloria throws in, "I'm glad John's not here to see you disgrace the family name - he would have been heartbroken!" Jack tells her that she isn't to tell him how his father would feel - she's the one who killed him! Besides, he says, the letter's a fake! Ben takes Jack back into the other room and tells him that his credibility is at risk. Jack says he'll tell the panel that Gloria is a black widow who has buried two rich husbands within a year. Ben asks him straight out if he manipulated his father into changing the will. Jack replies that it even sounds ridiculous! Sharon calls Noah to say goodnight and overhears people speculating that Jack is going down like the titanic!
Nikki comes downstairs and tells Victor the nurse is giving Victoria a bath. The doorbell rings and Nikki opens the door to Neil. He comes inside and notes that Victor hasn't received his message. He informs him that the police are probably right behind him! He tells them they have taken his computer and laptop along with other files from the office. Nikki is upset and Victor explains that this is Jack Abbott's doing! The doorbell rings and Maggie and Heather are there with some officers. Victor asks if they plan on rolling over his comatose daughter and looking for evidence! They try to be diplomatic about things, but Victor is furious - "do it fast and do it now!".....Back in Madison, Jack gets off the phone and tells Sharon that his sources say there has been a favorable response to his apology. As they plan to return to the hotel room for a hot tub and champagne, Ben comes in and tells them that search warrants have been served on Victor Newman! Sharon is put out - she explains that she hates what Victor did to Jack, but it's the worst timing! Jack reiterates that he can't take the rap for Victor - he's an evil man!
Michael begins to make his case, and Ben comes in and tells them that Gloria is bitter and the Senator is heading back to Genoa City as they speak! The chairman tells them they can both make their cases to the full committee! Michael and Ben glare at one another.....At the ranch, Nikki and Victor discuss the search, which is now over. Victor tells her again that Jack is behind this. She feels he timed this for the ethics committee! Victor says Jack is his own worst enemy - he doesn't think things through!....In Madison, Jack runs into Kevin and Gloria and asks what they're going to say! They argue, with Sharon trying to diffuse the tension. As the bickering becomes heated, Jack calls Kevin "Pugsley", and is rude to Gloria. A hovering John warns Jack to watch how he speaks to his wife! Inside, Ben tells the committee that he questions Gloria's motives - besides, she already told them previously that she had nothing further to add! Michael addresses the committee next. He says that Gloria and the Senator don't get along, it's true. That is why she is so determined to get to the truth, and that is why the ethics committee exists! He explains that she has vital new information that may alter the outcome of the proceedings. Ben is outraged, "What new evidence?!" The panel votes to allow Gloria to resume testimony, but Michael is warned if she rehashes any prior testimony she will be cut off immediately!
Victor sits on the sofa and thinks back to a prior conversation with Jack where they discuss the samples of dog hair. The doorbell rings and Victor takes delivery of the box David sent for Nikki. He opens the box, but Nikki calls him upstairs....Michael warns Gloria to only state the facts as they wait outside the courtroom. Nearby, Sharon and Ben ask Jack what this could possibly be about! Jack says he has no idea, but he wants to stay to listen! The court is reconvened, and John leans over Jack's shoulder to warn him he's not going to like what's going to happen!
David calls Nikki at the ranch to check if she got the package. She sees it and says she did. They agree to talk later. As Victor comes back into the room, Nikki goes upstairs. Victor takes David's love letter out of the box and sticks it in his back pocket. Nikki comes back and takes the box.....Gloria takes the hot seat and begins to read the letter from John. Ben asks how it's relevant, and Sharon wonders how they even know it's real! Michael stands up and says the letter's contents will undoubtedly prove wrongdoing on the part of Jack Abbott.....Back at the ranch, Victor reads the letter from David, including a portion that says he will never let her down the way her husband has. He suddenly gets up and walks out of the door....
Jack is stopped by Ben from leaving town because the Ethics Committee wants him to answer more questions...Across town, Kevin informs Gloria that the committee has more questions for Jack. They decide to listen in on Kevin's laptop! As they wait for the computer to reboot, Gloria asks Kevin to help her get in touch with the son of the man John was in prison with about the letter. Kevin says she'll owe him!
