At Jabot, David tells Nikki not to worry, she'll come out on top against Victor in the lawsuit. As Nikki heads off to meet with R&D, David takes a call alerting him to two people meeting. Just then, Paul walks in and asks for Nikki. David tells Paul that she's out - possibly all day. Paul's level-gaze meets David's as he tells him. "I'll wait."
At Jabot, David hands Brad $10,000 and they shake hands. Nikki, who has witnessed this, approaches as Brad walks away, and asks David what that was all about. He replies, "Nikki, there is something you need to know." Brad heads to the conference room, where Jill is finishing up with Heather. Jill tells Brad that Heather was a great hire, "That girl lives at her desk!" Back out in the hall, David lies to Nikki that he and Brad were discussing the lawsuit, and that Brad was trying to convince him that they should settle. He tells her that Brad is making sense, and suggests that they let Heather draw up a settlement. Nikki is furious! She discusses it further with David, and finally throws her hands up, saying, "Fine. If Victor wants to pay us what we're asking for, we'll settle!" David reminds her it won't be that simple - Victor will want a war! Nikki says she doesn't care what he wants, and reminds David that they need to present a united front at Jabot. Having successfully distracted Nikki from the true reason he was speaking to Brad, David embraces her and agrees.
At the coffeehouse, J.T. speaks to Adam, who has recently arrived. Adam refuses to discuss the lawsuit with J.T. because he is married to the plaintiff. J.T. reminds Adam that they are on the same side, but Adam is stubborn about it, and ends up insulting J.T. by calling him a 'rent-a-cop in a nice suit'! After Adam leaves, Nikki and David wander in. Paul and J.T. whisper that David makes their skin crawl! When Nikki takes a phone call, Paul decided to initiate a chat with Mr. Chow. Paul grills David about why they went to get married so quickly in Mexico. David makes excuses, and Paul explains that he is concerned about Nikki - they are old friends and he won't stand by and see her hurt. David assures Paul he has nothing to worry about. As Paul offers him a coffee, David remarks that caffeine at night makes him jittery. Paul snarks, "Really? I thought it was me making you jittery!" Nikki comes over and smiles at Paul's over protectiveness. As Nikki and Paul take a stroll down memory lane, David tries to get her to call it a night. Just as David gets a text message from his bookie that cheers him up, Paul takes a call from Mina, David's former stepdaughter - she's ready to talk!
At Jabot, David and Nikki share a snuggle before talk turns to the legal fight of Jabot vs Newman. As Nikki prepares to go and oversee the proceedings, David suggests that she just let Heather and her team handle it. Nikki replies, "Thanks, but I've got to oversee this one personally."
At Crimson Lights, Kevin is swamped in Jana's absence. As he deals with an unhappy customer, Gloria sweeps in. She hisses to Kevin that her jewels have all been replaced with fakes! Just then her phone rings - it's Jill, demanding that Gloria get into work now to make her presentation. Gloria begs off with a 'family emergency' excuse, and a frustrated Jill hangs up and says to Brad, "It could be worse, she could be my mother!" As Jill walks away, Brad approaches David and notes that he's wearing some nice bling. David bluntly replies, "It's over, Brad. I'm paying you off." Brad looks intrigued.
In the conference room at Jabot, Jill, Brad, and Heather tell Nikki and Victoria that the cost of pursuing the court case against Newman will be exorbitant - they suggest that she settle immediately. Nikki is stunned. "Absolutely not!" As they sit down for their meeting, it comes to light that an idea Victoria is proposing has already been brought forward by Brad. Nikki suggests that they work together on it, but Jill disagrees. Nikki leaves it up to Brad and he welcomes Victoria to 'Jabot Retro'. Jill then confronts Nikki about the lawsuit against Newman being personal. Nikki is outraged, and Brad jumps in and suggests a compromise. Brad offers to meet with Heather about it, but David quickly tells him that Nikki will be handling it herself! As everyone leaves the room but Jill and Brad, they exchange a look and Jill sighs, "I know!"
In Nikki's office, Victoria arrives and listens to her mother's rant about how ridiculous Jill's suggestion is that she is pursuing this lawsuit as a way to get back at Victor. Victoria replies that with her history with Victor it's not that surprising, but she also feels Jill has issues with Nikki taking over her spot at Jabot. Victoria then notes that the whole lawsuit is due to Adam. "Wonder what dad thinks of his golden boy now?" As Victoria walks out, David comes in. He notes that the lawsuit may not be personal - but they sure won't mind when the judge rules against Victor! Nikki looks uncomfortable. Nikki leaves the room and runs into Jill again. Jill apologizes for the dust-up earlier, but also says she isn't convinced that this isn't personal. She asks Nikki to examine why she is being so defensive about this. "Everything always comes back to Victor with you, Nikki, and it always will until you let it go!"
At Jabot, David takes a call from his bookie and makes yet another bet! After, Brad takes a call from the bookie, who reports that he has talked David into another bad bet. Brad chuckles and thanks him. David then comes in and offers Brad $10,000 of the money he owes him. Brad smirking, tells David not to worry about not being able to come up with it all. "I know you're good for it!" As they shake on it, Nikki appears and watches suspiciously!
At the Club, Nikki and David discuss what type of home they will buy to live in together. David says all the right things and Nikki beams. Just then, Phyllis happens by, and David invites her to join them. She says she is too busy and suddenly her phone rings. She listens with growing horror, then tells Nikki, "Nick's been in an accident!"
Back at the Club, Victoria and J.T. are told by David that Nick has been in an accident. Victoria is frantic, but David assures them that it doesn't seem to be serious, but they are waiting on the MRI. Just then, David takes a call from Walter, who has come through with some money. After he hangs up, J.T. asks if everything is okay. David lies that he has to go help a guy from his Gambler's Anonymous group!
