Nikki returns to Victor's hospital room and chastises him for doing business with Michael. Victor tells her he has asked Michael to sign over the Ranch to Ashley - it's only a piece of property. Nikki looks disgusted!
Choices.
The doctor is in Victor's hospital room with him and Nikki. He says things are looking better, and talks about releasing him. Victor tells Nikki that going home sounds nice. Nikki is concerned when Victor says it still hurts in his chest. She wonders if he should try to stand, but he wants to hear about her life - what has she put on hold for him? Nikki talks about her time at the spa - she enjoyed it, and found peace. He asks if she's going back.
Nick comes into Victor's hospital room, just as Victor is joking with Nikki that she should go to med school. She leaves the room, and Nick says he wants to talk to Victor about Adam. He tells him that Adam will soon be trying to wrest control of Newman from them. Victor says it won't happen - he's feeling stronger every day, and if Adam causes trouble he'll have to deal with him. Nikki returns to the room and is stunned to see Victor up out of bed. Victor looks her in the eye and tells her he doesn't want her to leave - she's home.
The Game is Over.
Phyllis arrives at the hospital and passes a tense Nick and Adam as she goes into Victor's room. Nikki is in with Victor. Phyllis asks what is going on out there. Victor says he gave Adam a job. Phyllis wonders if the boys can play nice in the sandbox.
Out in the waiting area, Nick tells Adam he will give him the position of Junior Vice-President - he will do whatever he asks of him! Victoria walks up and says that the press has gotten a hold of a rumor that dad is dead - she has to run interference. Adam complains, but takes his first assignment. Phyllis comes out and calls them in - Victor's up on his feet! Phyllis tells Nick she has to go meet Daniel. Nick turns his attention back to Victor and Nikki. Suddenly, Victor's monitor goes off! Adam, Nikki, and Nick are asked to leave the room as Victor goes unconscious!
Victoria arrives at the hospital and Nikki fills her in on what happened with Victor - there is concern that he may experience renal failure and need dialysis. Victoria says she's off to the stockholder meeting. Victor weakly says he loves her. Nikki and Victor then have words about him worrying about business.
Nick and Victoria return to Victor's hospital room to tell him the meeting went well, and that they'll try to make it work with Adam. They leave, and Nikki assures Victor that he'll be fine and she'll stay by his side.
Mr. Squishy Big Hands!
Michael visits Victor in the hospital. They discuss Newman Enterprises, and Michael tells him about the deal Adam brokered the other day. Victor remarks that he doesn't work there, and Michael says Victoria reminded Adam of that. Victor signs off on the deal, and Michael advises him to have a word with Adam.
Adam shows up in Victor's hospital room. Victor immediately confronts him about the deal he made for Newman. He informs Adam that Victoria was right to call Michael in to put him in his place. Adam insists he will do whatever it takes to win back his trust. Nick appears and says to Victor, "Please tell me you're not buying any of this!" Adam says he knows Nick has been going through a lot - he was just trying to help. Nick wonders how he knew about him losing the baby. Adam covers, saying he's blind, not deaf. Victor clears his throat and says he will authorize Adam's activities at Newman. Nick is appalled! Victor says he won't reinstate Adam, just put him in a low-level position where he reports to Nick and Victoria - one misstep and he's out. Adam thanks Victor, who warns him to watch his step and consider everything carefully. Adam turns to Nick and says he and Victoria will see that he's different. Nick tells him not to try his act with him. Adam leaves.
Victoria arrives in Victor's hospital room just as Nick is telling Victor he cannot let that fraud, Adam, back into the company. Victor says he wants them both to believe it! They argue with their father, who says that Adam was great with Ashley throughout her pregnancy and deserves a second chance. As Adam watches from outside the door, he imagines that Victor dies and Nick tells him to get lost - he's nothing to this family. Adam says to himself that Nick had better get used to him.
