Quote sarasecret007: The only time I ever see anyone visit a church is when theirs a funeral.

The bottom line with this - if I may second guess from working in entertainment - is the cost and the other things involved. When it's a funeral - it's cast members who attend the funeral (one character for another...) however if they were to have a regular Sunday mass - it would involve hiring extras, having to have extra this and that - a wrangler for the extras, etc... So - to do a Sunday regular service would up the cost of the soap, would take away from the regular characters and wouldn't really add anything to a storyline. It would even involve an additional set that is probably not already there on a regular basis.

If they want to depict a Sunday - and give the impression of church - they could be re-entering home, dressed in Sunday best and someone could make mention of something that the priest or minister said during service. You know even something as simple as "nice service today, wasn't it." But to show church in general gets complex.

Not to mention all of the stirring that would go on with the fans and this board about what religions were represented! I'm sure it's a can of worms they want to keep closed.

Quote feronie: No one is religious; they are all hypocrites. You cannot
live a life of sin, and then attend church and call yourself religious. You have to walk the walk and talk the talk. It is one thing to repent for your sins, but they continue to sin---murder, lying, theft, coveting, worshipping money and power, adultery, on and on and on.

They need the church only during weddings (to show off), for funerals (to show how "religious" they are), and for crises (to create drama.)

The human condition = living a sinful life. Nikki is as reliant upon a higher power as the writers want her to be.
I worded that deliberately as I believe there is a vast difference between religion and Christianity, or just common human kindness, concern, morality, golden rule, or even what goes around comes around... etc.

This just occurred to me: Remember when Brad's mother was on the show and she was Jewish and they went to the Synagogue (sp?)...and I thought this was the time of year for that celebration of the Jewish new year (on the news last week Congress was out for the holiday?)...anyway, Brad and Colleen went once for that celebration and not since...in GC, I know there are hospital chapels, and the like for prayers if someone is on deathbed and some do marry in small churches (seems like most elope to Vegas tho, lol)...and there are services for those that die (if they are told when to show up - John Abbott's or have it held at a different time altogether for NO one to show up)...

Twocentsworth, Indeed, we Jews just celebrated "Rosh Hashanah" last month. Just to let you know, Colleen is not Jewish as Judaism is only through the MOTHER'S bloodline.
