I'm new to this so maybe this has been discussed before,if so forgive me. Since Hope was blind do you think when she was so ill someone else pretended to be her Adam, perhaps someone who had been in school with the real Adam and copied his voice and mannerisms. He could have been a plant by someone who knew Victor had a son with Hope. I have so much difficulty thinking that kind and loving Hope could have raised a child like Adam is turning out to be. It doesn't make sense. I know we can't predict how our children will turn out but, here something is just not right.

I have often wondered the same thing at times. There are so many things that don't sit right with me as far as Adam is concerned. We hardly know anything about this guy come to think of it and some of his earlier scenes are questionable to say the least.

Sounds like JT and Paul may have a new job investigating Jr. It would be as easy as going back and looking at High School yearbooks and Hope's family photos...he couldn't have changed that much in appearance....but that would be to easy for those super-detectives.

HI, I have been advocating this from the first time I saw Adam. Well not the first, but the phone call when he said to Skye "they don't suspect a thing" That is the day I said to myself - this is not Adam!
Hope would not have raised him to be like he is. I know there are bad apples out there, but Hope would have instilled good qualities, which Adam is lacking.
My theory:
Adam is part of the mob - out to get Victor - and his money.
Adam put the hit on Sabrina. I think the real Adam is either dead or kidnapped. Probably dead. (but in soap land he might not be) I too think Hope was too sick. How many of you have seen your family on their death bed? Not too with it - yes?

Victor didn't know what Adam looked like.

Some others have posted that Adam was raised with livestock - dogs too - But the very first thing he did was banish Zapatto. I just can't believed that Hope raised this man.
So far this hasn't been a popular theory with the board, we will see in the future. I may be totally off in what I think, but maybe not!

Blind people aren't dumb. They can still hear. She would've known that wasn't him just by his tone of voice.

Hope was not dumb - but she was sick - dying actually. They could have picked a person with a similar voice. When a person is that sick it would be easier to pass off a similar voice.

Any way - I want a DNA test!

Honestly the whole Adam story line is completely wrong. Remember when Nick's plane went down...Victor vanished because he got a call that his younger son Adam was in trouble with drugs down in South America. Now he's a Harvard Grad and top business man, no way! Why do the writers think the viewers forget story lines?

This really is an interesting theory and would really explain so much. He could have even pulled a "Sheila" and had surgery to look like the real Adam????

This is an interesting concept but I think the Adam we see really is the Adam that Hope raised, but that there are many revelations about his character left to see...
1. He dissappeared of the radar and Victor went to rescue him...but when Hope was dying that was the first time they met (theory: Adam just showed back up at home and Hope let Victor know.)
2. His best friend and exlover was a poker shark...lending to the mob ties and tying in the plane crash.
3. Remember the story Adam told about showing up in his first Harvard class complete with blazer and everything, that would leave a mark and hard feelings against the "rich & priviliged" classmates and explain the bitterness and resentment towards Nick and Victoria he decided to hate them simply because they were a part of the class of people he didn't fit in with (being a farmboy from Kansas and all)

There are enough options for storylines without shoving the same tired bs down our throats...

Funny, but I thought this SAME thing from DAY one that Adam came home to see Hope. Remember he had this lucritive (sp) job and he just calls in and says he quits... Something has seemed "off" since his first day on Y&R.

He has to be Victors son because his ways are so much like Victor. He is Victor all made over,he couldn't have learned Victors action so quickly as to be just like Victor to the point like he has done so for.

This is the story line that I remember too. He was a completely different person when Hope was dying, wanting nothing to do with Victor and he supposedly had a very good Wall Street job, but then he shows up in GC with the tables turned compltely....I think that he has been overcome with "Greed and Revenge" since Hope died. I still wonder why the Skye storyline just fell apart....it just sounds real fishy to me.

This is an interesting theory. I also do think that the whole 'Adams in trouble with drugs, but suddenly a Harvard grad' was really weird. But this story line would be really unoriginal. Lilly is really not Neil's daughter. Anna is really not Tyra's daughter. Heather is suddenly Paul's daughter. Cane is Jill's long lost son. Do we really need another one?
I don't like Adam, but his character seems genuine. He dislikes Victor at first. He could not understand how he could just dump him and his mom, refusing to take into account that it was Hope's wish. He resents Nick and Victoria for many things. 1. They grew up rich not having to work for anything (in his eyes anyways) 2. He feels that they are underqualified for their positions at Newman 3. They are the children that Victor did raise, he was a part of their lives.
When he decided to come to Genoa City he seemed like was only there for the job opportunity, but then it seemed that he wanted to be a part of the family. Though none of that worked out, he did attempt to reach out to Nick and Victoria a few times.

I think the writers have done a good job in creating this character, Adam- they are leaving the door open to swing many different ways-so I think he'll be around for some time to come. If he is really Victor's son, his reactions to Victoria & Nick are understandable. Adam wanting to take the high & mighty role of heading up Newman is plausible since he thought and Victor's will said he should be "top man" but I think Victor thought Adam would have enough sense to keep strong people like Neil & Michael around to help him. However, Adam acted the way Victor acts- he wanted everything to be from his point of view, under his control, etc. Now, Victor has to slap him down a bit and Victor is disappointed that Nick & Victoria never helped Adam But Adam never gave them a chance. And, beyond the hatred between Jack & Victor, the writers seem to be setting a s/l whereby Adam & Brad will join in the war against Victor. They will all meet the "Victor wrath"!
