I know there are numerous ways to improve the show. I think since Hogan Sheffer joined the show has gotten better, but what else can be done to make it EVEN BETTER? |

Wow... this thread could open a pandora's box! I've got (more than) a few suggestions. 1. Before crafting a story, check out character history and make sure you're not running afoul of well-established facts about the characters involved. For example, it doesn't make much sense for Lily to refuse to marry Cane when she finds out she's carrying his child, yet INSIST that he marry Chloe when it's speculated she could be carrying his child! 2. Base the premise of a story on at least reasonably-believable evidence. For example: The paternity test done for Chloe's baby. a) Since when can a paternity test company come to your home to collect the materials they need? What safeguards, if any, were taken to ensure that the samples gathered were not tainted? b) It is very common knowledge that one CANNOT determine the father of an unborn child by testing a sample of the mother's blood. If there is to be a paternity test at all, PLEASE base it on a test that would actually BE conducted under the circumstances! c) Paternity test results - at least the legitimate ones that viewers are aware of! - tend to confirm or deny beyond a doubt who the father is. A result of "in the group" does NOT confirm fatherhood. Forcing the characters to behave as if the result given here IS proof of Cane's paternity is akin to forcing them to try to convince their audience that the grass outside is actually bright orange rather than green. Here's another example: the "reopening" of the Ji Min murder by Heather. a) Why is she going through boxes of material at Jabot? Why were those materials not seized for the investigation in the first place? b) If you want someone to look at materials - like an investigator - wouldn't it be prudent to establish the chain of custody for that potential evidence? You'd need it if you brought that material before a judge... 3. DON'T DROP THE STORY. There are too many loose ends on Y&R that need to be wrapped up! Even if you didn't create the loose ends, wrap them up! Here's a short list: a) When, if EVER, will it be learned that Gloria tainted the cream? b) Did Victor ever find the "bad people" who were influencing Victor Jr? They were, after all, the reason he bolted from town despite the fact that the Newman Jet had been sabotaged with his other son, Nick, on board! c) Who killed Plum? And whatever happened to Carson, or Carter, or whatever-his-name-was that came to town looking for him? 4. Related somewhat to #s 1 and 3. When wrapping up a loose end, make the wrap-up worthy of the story surrounding the loose end! Example: Victor's vasectomy being "quietly reversed"... The reaction of viewers was, and I quote, "WTF!?" |

There has to be a writing team out there, that are capable of bringing this soap back to the classics. In the past this soap had always stood aside from all the rest to me because of the writer's back in the day. I refuse to believe that creative/classic writer's no longer exsist. Bring them back please. |

1. Don't introduce anymore new teenage characters into the show. Instead, bring characters that are in their mid or late twenties. |
