My accident happened in Houston before we moved to East Texas and I was out walking my dogs on a morning walk and the neighbors dog got out and ran up behind me and knocked me down hitting me behind the knees and broke my hip in 5 places. I got hold of a real quack and he tried to repair the 5 breaks with bolts and screws and the bolts and screws all fell out and he told me I had to wait a year to do anything about it. I was in horrible pain and couldn't walk at all. Well after about 8 months we decided to find another doctor as my leg swelled twice its size and was always bright red. We found another doctor and he immediately said I had to have a hip replacement and he scheduled the operation. Well before I got the replacement I fell on my walker and broke my knee so that delayed the operation for another 6 months. So after the 6 months they checked me into the hospital for a hip replacement and when they opened me up they discovered I had a MRSA infection in the hip and leg and in another week had it not been discovered I would have lost my leg so there another 3 months postponing the operation. They sent me home with 8 weeks of IV's to cure the infection. Finally after 3 years I got my replacement and I can walk again. I still have a lot of pain off and on and do use a cane sometimes when I am in pain but at least I can walk. They told me to expect problems the rest of my life because of the infection and all the surgeries. I am just thankful that I can walk. Limp or no limp. I pray you get some relief soon because I can imagine how much you must hurt. God Bless donbru - Oh my goodness! What a terribly horrific ordeal you went through. That neighbor's dog must have been a big one to do that much damage to you. And, it sounds like we had the same experience with our doctors. I fell while using my walker about six weeks after my knee replacement and heard something pop in my left ankle. It immediately started swelling and since it was a Saturday night, I had to wait until Monday to go to my knee surgeon. He examined my foot by touching it, but didn't take an x-ray. Told me to keep it wrapped and stay off of it, which was easy wince I couldn't walk at that time anyway. The foot kept swelling and was so painful, and I kept going to see him every few weeks for over six months, and he still didn't x-ray my foot. Finally, he decided to send me to an ankle specialist in Charlotte NC. They x-rayed my left foot and were astonished to see that my left Achilles Heel was broken and just hanging there. The doctor told me he was surprised that I could walk and said my tolerance for pain was amazing. He scheduled me for surgery which was done a week later and it took several months for me to be able to walk. I also limp and have to be very careful because I lose my balance and nearly fall dozens of time every day. So, I'm on long-term disability and am unable to work. I can truly sympathize with you and understand what you've been through. It so wonderful that you are able to walk again! Well, my pain meds have kicked in and I need to lie down. Just remember there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I know you think all of it will never end but have faith because miracles do happen. I will be praying for you and yes it was a very large Lab that hit me from behind. I had told the neighbors to keep him in because he always ran up behind me but they ignored me and that is what cost me with him hitting me from behind. He was just very playful. Funny thing after my accident the dog disappeared because I think they though I was going to sue but it didn't even cross my mind. It wasn't the dogs fault. I just pray they didn't take him and dump him somewhere. |

Thank You Shorty that was really sweet. My prayers were answered and now I am putting in special prayers for Hot Pink. She really needs all our prayers. I have been very blessed and yes miracles do happen. |

Hi ladies, hope you are all having a nice day. It's a tad bit warm here supposed to be 104. My cousin's and I have been working last couple of days to get ready for a yard sale tomarrow. Unfortunately they say it is going to be 106 tomarrow. Just our luck but then again you got to expect it afterall it is summer in Fresno . Yuck!! Anyways wish us luck! I am thinking who in their right mind would be out yardsaling let alone having one. I hope you all enjoy your weekend and will chat with you all later. Take care! |

Hi Donbru, as hot as it gets here you sure would think it was Texas but I live in Fresno, CA. Good old San Joaquin Valley. Luckily we don't get the humidity like Florida. Just good old dry heat. It's 5:30 in the morning and I already got my swamp cooler running it's really going to be a hot one today. We are already committed to doing a yard sale today so I just gotta suck it up and hope there are some crazy yardsale fans out there. |

Hi everyone, hope you are enjoying your weekend. I'm wating for it to get light outside so I can throw this yardsale stuff outside. We sure did pick a hot day to have one supposed to be 106 but I have a feeling it might even be hotter. Was supposed to be 104 yesterday but I think it got up to 106. Sure hope there are some diehard yard sale fans out there. My house is in absolute shambles wow my work is just beginning. Wish me luck everyone. |

Sleep tight donbru - I appreciate your kind words, and do my best to believe in miracles and that something good will happen. But, it is so frustrating because the pain never ends. I'm not giving up, though, and will keep praying and doing my best to make things better for myself. Wish those neighbors had honored your request to keep their dog in. I hope they didn't get rid of it or, like you said, dump it somewhere. Well, it's time to get my son off his behind so we can clean the puppies room (what fun, what joy). That's the worst thing about hot weather here; it gets really humid and your clothes start sticking to you the moment you go out (which is why I say in). Hope you are doing okay. I lived in Cerritos, Ca for many years and it was the only relief we ever got when it got super hot. Hope your garage sale is a big success. watch the heat and drink plenty of water. Hot Pink hope your pain has subsided a little this morning as you sounded like you were really having a bad day yesterday and if I were there I would gladly clean those puppies room as long as I could spoil them a little bit. We got a little rain but not enough to talk about but it did bring the temps down a bit but made the humidity higher so we cant win for losing. Everyone have a great day and stay cool donbru - Still having a lot of pain today. But, I'll take some of my meds, which should help. The puppies room is nice and clean (for at least two minutes after I get them back in there. How old do they have to be before you can start taking them outside? They will be 5 weeks old on Tuesday. Hope you are doing well and will have a nice day. |

Hello my friends, I trust that you all had a good evening. The weather here is sunny, not too hot and a gentle breeze is blowing enough so that I have all of the windows open. I am getting ready to take care of some errands but I had to see how everyone is doing today before I went out. I will keep everyone in my prayers. |
