Quote Tilo: Oh yes - I live right in the middle of Wine Country - hundreds of Vinyards and Wineries and wine tastings. There are many wonderful vintages produced here. Quote Eppy: Wyoming native here! Lived in New York, Colorado and Montanta. I now live on the Central Coast of California. It's beautiful here, but everywhere has it's beautiful spots. Eppy do you like Californian wines? Try this: http://www.sanluisobispo.winecountry.com/wineries/ |

Quote Candace: This thread seems to be going really good! XO Candace Thanks, Candace. It's been great "meeting" and talking with new friends. I am now sporting a fabulous HOT PINK cast on my left ankle. You can see me coming a mile away! But, heck, I LOVE pink! Have to stay off my foot for a few more weeks and then we'll go from there! Hope all is well with everyone today! |

Hope all is well with everyone today! So what was the outcome?? if you have to have a cast, HOT PINK is the way to go-did you break your ankle?? Hi, gommie! You're right - my grandson who is 18 months old is going to LOVE the HOT PINK! The doctor said it's healing nicely, but I can't put any weight on it for a few weeks. While I was recovering from a left knee replacement I had to have after being attacked in April 2007 by a drunk woman (who was a friend and is my grandson's other grandmother). The initial injuries from that incident were a totally crushed left knee and several breaks in the left tibia. My left leg ended up being severely crooked, so my doctor did the knee replacement and cut the bone at an angle in order to straighten it. My left leg is now an inch shorter than my right one as a result. A couple months after the surgery, while using my walker, I lost my balance and my left ankle popped. We thought I had damaged the tendon but after months of severe swelling, I went to a specialist who told me the left Achilles Heel was broken. He says I'm recovering nicely now so, hopefully, soon I'll be able to start walking again using my cane. All in all, it's been one heck of a year! |

We only see each other at my grandson's birthday parties. After my granddaughter is born in July, there will be two parties. But, I can handle it...I'd never do or say anything that could end up hurting my grandchildren, their mother or my son. |

All in all, it's been one heck of a year! holy smokes- I would agree-so are we through with the other friend/grandma? Here goes: Actually, this happened at my son's house, where my ex-friend was living with her daughter and my son (after being released from an alcohol/drug abuse center where she had been for nearly a year). They had a party that Saturday afternoon/evening...they were drinking, maybe smoking a little weed (I don't know about the latter since I wasn't there). Mary and my son got into a fight after he evidently said something she didn't like (he's half-British and has their very dry style of wit). She slapped him in the back of his head twice, grabbed the baby (who was 6 months old at the time), ran into her room and locked the door. My son broke the door down to get his son. From what I was told, they had a knock-down, drag-out, and Mary's ex-sister-in-law called the police. My son called and asked me and my mom to please come get him because he and Mary had a fight and he needed some space. In the fight, my son's hand got badly cut, and when we got to his house, we found out the cops had taken him to the Emergency Room. Mary and I talked (well, I listened, she talked) before the cops called and asked me to come to the hospital to pick him up. I actually hugged her, told her I loved her and that everything would be okay. At the hospital, I found my son covered in blood, soaking wet with no shoes. He asked my mom and me to go back to his house to get some dry clothes/shoes as well as some money and his truck so he would have a way to get back to his house the next day. By the way, he wasn't arrested because the cops realized he had been defending himself and more especially his son from that crazy drunk woman. We went back and went I got up the steps to the door, Mary reached out screaming obscenities and shoved me down the steps. I managed to wrap my arms around the banister and prevented myself from falling. Her daughter (my son's girlfriend) told her mom to let her in the house. Once inside, Mary kept screaming obscenities, not allowing me to get a word in edgewise, and was inching closer to me while looking back and forth at the door. I realized she was trying to get me to the door and was probably going to push me down the steps again. So, I raised my left hand (I'm right-handed) and very lightly tapped her on her cheek, begging her to please calm down. Well, she didn't calm down, she grabbed me by the neck and lifted me up over her head (still screaming), threw me over onto the floor (that's when my leg broke), then she fell down on top of me (that's when she crushed my knee) and tried to strangle me. Her daughter and niece were finally able to get her off me. It took several hours for my surgeon to get all of the bone fragments out of my knee, put in a metal plate and screws to reattach my leg back to my knee. So, that's why we are definitely not friends anymore. My son's girlfriend and I have managed to keep our loving relationship (I've known her since she was 10). And, I don't know what I would have done without my grandbaby after all that happened, who has been my salvation through all of this. Oh, and they say what goes around comes around. About a month after attacking me, after celebrating her birthday after work, my ex-friend ran into the back of a four-wheeler and totaled her car. She nearly lost her right ankle and has a hard time since. I really appreciate your kind words and sentiments. It's great to know I've got some WONDERFUL new friends! |
