Phyllis is about to tell Noah that his parents are both dead, as she doesn't know at that point Sharon is alive, as she didn't take the flight because the shoot was cancelled. Why Noah is even at the Tack House is because he was supposed to stay over at Nick's after going to a movie with a friend. I hope Sharon calls over there to tell Phyllis she's okay before Phyllis says anything to Noah. If there is any justice in the world, Noah will not have to be traumatized twice in the same day: first if Phyllis tells him both his parents are dead, after he's already lost Cassie , then again, once he finds out, no, his mom is alive, but yes, his father is dead! He deserves to hear this horrible news about his father from Sharon and no one else! Gosh, I feel so bad for Noah - why are they torturing this kid so much with all these deaths/near deaths of the people he loves most in the world??! Basically, everyone thinks Nick is dead, not just missing.

Jack was drunk after having one too many at the prospect of Sharon being dead. When she walks in the room, he's kinda half passed out and thinks he's seeing a ghost, a la ghost-dad John. He loses it and smashes his drinking glass against the wall. When Sharon finally convinces him that she's okay and really alive, he collapses into her arms and they sink to the floor in tears. He then (somewhat drunkenly ) promises her that he'll treat her better, and he'll never hurt her again...and that he doesn't deserve her...end scene. I thought it was very real and heartbreaking...Jack and Sharon did a great job. As did Phyllis and Michael. Great acting all around!!

NYAccent - I think your explanation re this whole plane crash thing makes the most sense. Honestly, what is the point of the plane crash now when we all know Josh signed a 5 year contract, hence, we already know Nick isn't dead? Unless, as you say, they already filmed these episodes way back in the event Josh did not resign, and had to use these taped episodes. Honestly, everyone is a mess on this episode - great acting by all!! Very, very, sad episode. But it seems all for naught and loses a lot of impact since we viewers all know Nick isn't dead...anyway, was an intensely emotional show.

Maybe the plan isn't for them to get back together. I think it's just more wishful thinking on the fans part. I don't really care. If he wants to still be a sex-crazed puppy for Phyllis, then so be it. I hope Sharon outgrows him.
