Quote Gencor: Iknow, I will probably get banned for saying this, but I really believe it has to be said anyway. How may times, and how many different ways can this be discussed without exhausting the subject? I do believe that this has been the most picked apart and disected subject of any on this board or any other I have ever been on. It has become so watered down and the argument so redundant that the true meaning of the story itself has just fallen into this really obscure oblivion. I am not sure now whether or not this story really deserves this much vitriol. I believe that the debate has become obcessive rather than objective. I don't think that there is really anything else to add, but rather to just keep repeating. It really doesn't change anything that the writers are writing for the show, but rather serves as just an outlet to abuse and argue points that have been made over and over and over again to the point that they now mean nothing because there is nothing left to learn. You won't get banned for saying this. You didn't say anything wrong. It is just that both Phick/Shick have a lot of fans. The s/l has been going on for over three years. It is still going on. It does not look like it is going to end. People just want to state their opinions that is all. Yes this topic is probably the most talked about subject on MB's. I can't speak for anyone else. But the s/l going on right now is the same as what is happening on the MB's. The writers are doing the same exact thing. They keep on going back and forth beating it to death. |

Quote Delilah127: Well speaking as a 'stalwart' Shick fan I'll say that I have never pardoned Nick for what he did to Sharon and I'll be honest, it irritates me to no end how some shick fans just because they want him w/Sharon will make excuses for him. I don't give a rats behind about his grief, he wasn't the only one who lost a child. Why do his feelings and his grief trump Sharon's? Why was what he was going through more important than Sharon's feelings? Because he is the one who let Cassie go out that night? Oh booo fricky hoo..that's the choices we as parents make. I sure don't see anywhere that Nick is trying to change when it comes to Sharon and imho he's yet to make up for the horrible mistreatment of her and his son Noah who was just a lttle boy at the time. As much as I would like to see Nick and Sharon eventually together, he's yet to do anything for me that shows he deserves Sharon. However I see that Sharon loves him, and so for her if it's Nick she wants than I support her and want her to ultimately have the man she has loved for most of her life. Now on the matter of phyllis no she didn't single handedly destroy the shick marriage, but she sure did help it along huh? Texting all the time, arranging hotels, buying the little monkeys, coming to work in her bargain rack fredericks of hollywood wear and doing that whole come hither talk and eyelash batting she does. The woman was like a heat seeking missile and she didn't give a dang about a 'friend' sitting over their grieving the death of her child. The same child who had been in the car w/her son. That son that Sharon helped to set free. How did phyllis repay that woman? By sleeping w/her husband. That's my whole thing w/Phyllis, she did that. All by herself, if she had been a true woman, a sister, and fellow mother, she could have seen the situation and how much Sharon needed a friend, not for phyllis to help herself to her husband. Then phyllis has the gall even 4 years later to act like she was entitled to it all and that she never did anything wrong and Sharon is the one who put misery on her. I just don't get that kind of reasoning. Sharon had never done a thing to this woman except extend kindness and hospitality. We can go back and forth on Sharon and Phyllis sins all day, but if we just focus on what got us here, it was that incident right there. The affair..Nick and Phyllis own it..and everything that we have come to up to now is a result of THEIR selfish behaviour. Bravo....letting all out the way it it .... |

Adultery should be a crime, like any other crime, punishable by law. Stealing is. Isn't adultery taking someone elses spouse, whether that spouse is willing or not, doesn't matter. They are STILL in the marital vow, as recorded in every courthouse record everywhere, if they married legally. I believe adultery was a ban for a reason. |

Quote Memory24: When it comes to Shick's infidelities they always took the time to work things out. They didn't just forgive each other weeks later. But it took months and months for them to reconcile. When Nick cheated the first time Sharon went off and told him to get out. Sharon was going through Cassie almost getting taken away from her. She was having to deal with the Newmans and Grace. But no matter what she didn't fold because she knew that she couldn't trust her husband. It took time for them to get back together. It took Nick really showing that no matter what he would be there for his family. No one had to tell Nick to go back to Sharon or fight for his family he did that on his own. Then when Sharon came back from Denver it took time. They actually talked about their issues. Sharon had to show that she could fight for her family. That she was going to stay no matter what anyone did or said to her. Sharon begged Nick to talk to her after Cassie's death. Sharon realized that blaming Nick for Cassie's death would not help their situation. She blamed Nick for the death of their daughter who died before and they almost divorced. She begged and pleaded with Nick. But Nick was so caught on his own grief that he neglected his family. If Phyllis was such a great person you know what she should have done is sent Nick on his way. She should have told him NO. I am not going to be apart of this. I am better than this. But no she had the affair. They had a long affair. She was buying lingerie, booking hotel rooms, having sex in barns, eating dinner at Sharon's house while playing footsie with her husband. Nick having been married for ten years should have learned by now that cheating would not help his pain but make it even worse. He threw away his family. He threw away a person that he has loved since he was a teenager. He fought for his marriage so much in the past but then he was able to gamble everything on an affair with Phyllis? Yes Phyllis got Nick and the daughter she always wanted. But she got a whole bunch of baggage in the process. She got a man who is still very much attached to his ex-wife. A man that has unresolved feelings about his daughter's death. A man that doesn't even respect her or his marriage. Because if Nick respected Phyllis wouldn't do have the stuff he does. So no I do not think Phyllis comes out ahead of Sharon. I look at it like this Nick is in the drivers seat and Phyllis is in the passenger seat. But Sharon is in the backseat no matter how many times Phyllis tries to kick Sharon out of the car or beg Nick to leave her on the side of the road. He won't he will keep Sharon in that car no matter what. Memory you said it all and said it so well. This is what galls me about the whole Nick/Sharon/Phyllis affair.Phyllis deliberately went after Nick behind Sharon's back all the time pretending to be her friend. And when she got him she rubbed it right in Sharon's face.Sure it takes two to tango and she didn't exactly force Nick in to any thing but if she had had any common decency she would have seen that Nick was vulnerable and it was wrong to entice him away from his wife and son that needed him so desperately at the moment. But she does not have a shred of common decency in her entire body. She is evil and has been since day one.I have no use for her.I will never accept that their marriage is real.It was based on lies and cheating and will always be a sleazy affair.I don't buy the Stepford wife bit either and also they both look totally ridiculous together. This was the worst mistake the writers have ever made on this show and they know it.They are wracking their brains right now (what little they have) trying to fix it.It is one never ending mess. |

Delilah what an amazing post. You are so right on about the way this scenario played out. That is exactly what happened. And I agree Nick should not get a free pass for all of this.I do want him and Sharon back together eventually but first I want him to suffer and beg Sharon to take him back.He has hurt both women and he gets away with it.He needs to go through some he!! too.And yes a million times.Phyllis and Nick most definitely own this fiasco.Phyllis is and always will be Nick Newmans' original mistress. She is and always will be his sloppy seconds. |

I want Nick down to bloody broken knees before he can get Sharon back. It's one reason I root for Adam, as twisted as it is. I know that Adam is going to fall for Sharon. I believe he can get that baby back for her and perhaps give Sharon the adoration she deserves. How terrible for Nick to finally have some REAL competition and be made to go through burning hell to win Sharon back..but it would be justice to me. |

I agree with your post though I absolutely loathe Adam from the bottom of my soul! But, I want to see Nick suffer for what he has put Sharon through continually. I still cannot abide a Sharon/Adam pairing especially because he stole Faith from Sharon, but maybe all this has a point (getting Faith back). I remember that Nick used to really dislike Brad when Sharon and Brad were close, because Brad was real competition. However, I really, really want Nick to suffer before he has even a little chance of getting Sharon back. He's been such a jerk for years, it would be justice. |

Quote clamelia: I think it's time for Phyllis to loose everything like Sharon did once because of her. Sharon is so nice.I want her back with Nick and raise their childrren together. Unfortunately, we currently have a team of head writers who, allegedly, are not big fans of "good" characters so the heroines always get dumped on. Sharon is by far the most obvious example, then we have Lily. Both of these characters are "good" in that their characters aren't "villainous". They don't cook up schemes and plots to get what they want, nor do they take relish in seeing others hurt, like some characters. So decent characters that "wear their heart on their sleeves" get dumped on and kicked repeatedly when they're already down. If find that sadistic. Characters like Phyllis, Adam, and to a lesser extent even Michael, Gloria, never fully pay for all the heinous things they do. Their innumerable lies, schemes, ploys and plots never, ever get fully revealed and the consequences paid because they are the "villain" types, who must stay on the canvas for proper soap storytelling (you need an antogonist to every protagonist). While writing regimes in the past knew how to show the "bad" characters get their proper payback for their schemes, this doesn't seem to be the case anymore on Y&R. Writers seem to prefer to see innocent and "good" people continually getting hurt with no vindication, while the dark and sinister characters continue to get away with everything with little, if any repercussions (see Victor, Phyllis, Adam, Michael, Gloria, Jeff). It's pretty unbalanced writing and that makes the show unsatisfying to watch. As Peter Bergman said in a cast interview a few years ago, seeing the "bad" guys get their payback was something that always used to happen and is what kept fans tuning in: to see the payback. Where was Victor's payback? Where was Phyllis' payback for all the lying, scheming and malicious acts she committed to hurt Sharon for the past 3 years? Where's Gloria and Jeff's payback for continuting to be involved in criminal activity (the kidnapping of MJ)? The list goes on and on and that makes for very anti-climactic storytelling. |

It depends on what kind of payback you want. Victor was shot and almost died. Nick and Phyllis's daughter was poisoned and almost died. For all of her scheming Chloe lost Billy anyway. Jack lost his niece and Gloria served her time for the cream. In the last year or so, there have been more people in jail on this show that I would guess they had to build an entire new set because there has been so much action there. Daniel has probably done more jail time than anyone and he isn't even guilty! Like I said I can't imagine what you think payback is cause this seems to be pretty much what I would consider payback. |

Good posts from Soul and Gencor. I would like the payback to mean something. Victor and Jack will continue their feud and it will be worse than ever. Gloria has a new scheme every day. Adam caused his own blindness but look at what he's done/doing.I think that unfortunately this mirrors what our society is becoming. A group of people who demand instant gratification and who are selfish beyond understanding. |

Phyllis wears stilletoes and Sharon ballet slippers. Phyllis is the woman who thinks with her head. Sharon with her heart. Very different women. |
