I have nothing against Lily wanting a child in the future, but to want one so soon after being diagnosed with cancer is selfish. I know that she has cancer and that she wants to experience being a mother, but lets be realistic. Lets just say that she passes away the child will have to deal with the loss of her/his mother, just like Lily did and that is a tragic experience for anyone. The difference in Lily's situation is that Dru dying was an accidental death, where as Lily knows she has cancer and could possibly not survive it especially given her recent hospitalization. Now before the Lane fans kill me hear me out. I personally think that Lily should wait until she is in remission to make that decision. I think that's what Cane was trying to say when he told her the situation was complicated. Lily's response was I know I am young, which to me has nothing to do with it, she is not well right now. Lily is always jumping the gun and I am disappointed to see the writers not letting the character learn from past mistakes or mature. |

Lily has been through her share of disapponitments and sorrows. 1 failed marriage (almost 2) learning her uncle is really her dad, the lost of her mom, a miscarrige, & the lost of her best friend. She knows how special life is. So if she can just experience the love and joy of her own child everything that she went through wouldn't all be in vain. Of course if she does die even one day after her baby is born, she can rest in peace that Cane will be the best father in the world and will keep her memory alive. Plus she have faith that Collene's vision for her will surely come true. |

I would like to see her take on one battle at a time- get well first- then blessings to her if she can make this dream come true- |

Yes but what about the child, Lily should not be thinking of herself, she should get better first and stronger before she make a decision that not only affects her but Cane and the child. Also as far as things Lily's character has gone through you would think that she would make less impulsive decisions and think more rationally about things. |

Exactly- She needs to look at the whole picture and think about the baby and not just what she wants right now-- |

I disagree with making Lily "wait"...this idea and the possiblity of having her own child (thru Mac or some other surrogate) will give her hope and something to look forward to...I've had Cancer in my family and I know the more positive the victim is, the better they take the Chemotherapy meds and resist the Cancer spreading...some of it is psychological, but it's true...a positive attitude helps "the medicine go down"...this will also have viewers like me feel that perhaps this person, this Cancer victim, Lily, will go into remission and get through this battle (just like her BFF Colleen said in the dream when she visited her the day of her drowning/brain damage)...perhaps Lily will indeed have the baby surrogately, and live long, and many years to raise the child to an adult also...and, if she is not that fortunate, I feel Cane would be a great daddy to any child and the child would be in great, capable hands with Cane...he would also have a piece of Lily live on in the child, male or female, since Lily's own eggs would be used to unite with Cane and only carried by the surrogate...so the child will be a beautiful addition to the Ashby happy home... |

Love your post twocents. There's nothing wrong with Lily wanting a baby right now. Having a family with Cane is obviously something that she really wants and I say go for it! Them getting started on the baby doesn't mean that the baby will be here like in one month's time. By the time their baby is born, she will be in remission and will be well. I for one say, don't wait, do it now! There's no time like the present. Why wait? I can see that this is something that Lily really wants. She said it herself today that she is ready to be a mother and I believe her. This is why I love how she's written right now, she's thinking like a mature, adult married woman. |

She said it herself today that she is ready to be a mother and I believe her. This is why I love how she's written right now, she's thinking like a mature, adult married woman. I must respectively disagree, while yes Lily is acting like a married woman who wants to start a family with her husband, the situation is not normal. She just had a emergency infection and the Dr. said it looked grim, and by a miracle she survived the infection. Even her husband Cane said the situation was complicated, Lily should at least wait until she is in remission, at least give it six months or so when she has been doing well for awhile, Cane is not going anywhere and neither are her harvest eggs. Wouldn't she want to be strong for her child, instead of weak. So while you may see it as the character growing I see it as the character being impulsive. Every situation the character of Lily has been through she acted impulsive which landed her in dire situations. E.g. Kevin=STD, Ran away from home against parents wishes to marry Daniel, Divorced him for looking at porn, got pregnant by Cane did not know if she used a condom, started dating Billy Cane's brother after they broke up, I am just giving points where she acting impulsive and it had dire consequences. Lily should really take her time to think not about herself and what she wants, but about the future of the child and her husband. So lets agree to disagree |

I still think this is a very positive thing for Lily...to pursue having the baby thru the surrogate...it won't be overnight...it will be AT LEAST 9 months, perhaps one egg won't take and they will have to try the second one harvested...and by then, we know that Cane and Lily both will be stronger since Lily, the fighter that she is, will be in remission (much like Ashley who's Breast Cancer has NEVER come back and she went on to have her own children)...so, yes, I feel this will be behind Lily in no time and she will have the family she deserves and longs for... |

Time will tell, but Lily's usual decisions are about what she wants and needs and they are not always the best choices. You can want a lot of things but you only need a few. She needs to be strong before having a baby, not to mention let her enjoy her marriage for a bit, she and Cane just renewed their vows, she still hasn't learned to much about his past. Give it sometime. |

This post is excellent brings out so many valid points. This baby will do miracles for both Cane and Lily. It will give Lily hope for the future. Especially now that she has got this idea in her head. I think right now if Cane or Neal said no you shouldn't have this baby it is selfish. I honestly see her going into a depression and who knows how ill she will get. No Lily is not in remission but yet you see she is happy because she has a spark of hope in the fact she may one day hold her baby in her arms. And that spark of hope can go a long way into bringing her into remission. Hope is an amazing thing it can literally do miracles because it allows you to believe the impossible. Healing doesn't always start with medicines we put in the body but with positive thinking in the mind. Also for Cane he is not there yet but this baby is a miracle for him as well. He had lost hope, that is why he broke down. He knows this baby will give Lily the drive to beat the cancer so this little miracle will give him what he feared he would lose. A healthy wife and the family he has always desired. |
