Insider trading. Michael will probably get a big dose of 'egg-on-the-face' If he tries to pursue Victor on insider trading. The bank in the Caymans had nothing to do with insider trading, nor the SEC, nor the FBI nor the FDIC.

Insider trading:

Insider trading involves participating in a scheme to use inside information to trade stocks at a profit ahead of public announcements. Insider trading is the illicit trading on Wall Street.

Victor's intent to withdraw his funds from the foreign bank was to protect his deposit - not to profit in any way.

You know Eppy I often wonder why the hell they bring certain s/l in to play and don't take heed to the realization of what it really means, It's quite irritating for those who know a particular sector if not all of what the profession entail.

I agree. Lady53 is a lawyer and she has commented on this whole thing.

spoiler***In today's Cdn. episode, Nick agrees to settle. Gloria and Jefrey as well as other bank clients will be partially reimbursed.

EPPY, I did find something interesting about the SEC & the CAYMAN ISLANDS & it's banking institutions. The SEC would have cause if they thought VICTOR NEWMAN had fraudalently "milked" investors such as either TEXAS financier ALLAN STANFORD or PONZI-Scheme BERNARD MADOFF. The CAYMAN ISLANDS does have something called the CIMA which is the CQAYMAN ISLAND MONETARY AUTHORITY which is a governing body who works with local/federal regulators.

I agree lightandday, and the writers do this all to often. I will enjoy seeing Gloria wiping that big, ol' smile off her face when (and if) it comes to light that Victor did nothing wrong and that he was not trying to 'punish' other depositors at the bank. If was failing before he withdrew his money.

That's what so aggrevating about this whole thing. The SEC, FDIC and FBI are American Federal entities - they have no jurisdiction or authority over foreign entities. If Victor is accused of tax evasion or something like that, The FBI would be the one to investigate - not the SEC.

PS - if Jill and Heckle and Jeckle want to accuse Victor of something, they are also going to need to 'splain why they dumped their funds there and Gloria will also have to 'splain that the funds in her account came from Victor and how it got there.

Thanks for the education folks! I wonder if this whole thing is just a vehicle to make Nick look like an idiot so that when Victor returns, he replaces him with Adam.

Nick is such an idiot to go along with this reimbursement scheme. To think this is his first act as Head of Newman Enterprises. Victor will cut him a new one when he gets back.

EPPY, I know all this and I have made several posts about this some rather long & involved but all I was saying is that the SEC does in some cases believe it or NOT that they can investigate concerning the fraudaulent "milking" of investors which is NOT the case in this instance. And I will say again that this is NOT a case of INSIDER TRADING and that if TGVN is guilty of anything it would be causing a "run" on the bank which in the U.S. the FDIC protects bank customers/depositers up to $250,000.00 for each account that they have. But because all of them had monies in the CAYMAN ISLANDS and were trying to "hide" or "shelter" their monies from the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT to prevent them from paying taxes they REAP what they SOW! JMO! I think that DUMB & DUMBER will have to eventually PAY TAXES on their monies that they recieved from NICK falling for MICHAEL's lies about the SEC and the re-embursement scheme. When ole VIC comes back there will be heck to pay and look for DUMB & DUMBER to be in trouble with the IRS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
