His whole world crumbled and his family deserted him. The writers could have given him a friend or an ally to lean on or blow off steam from time to time, but they never did. Even PC3 who was supposed to be a good, true and trusted friend was no comfort. What a cruel thing to do to such a great character! That proves what an excellent actor DG is. An actor with less skill would never have withstood this role.

The writers took his family away from him, but he is still the same kind, loving man. Chancellor mansion, on the other hand, has been dead without him. They need him as much as he needs them. I expect Neil to come completely full circle again and accept him as his son-in-law again.


Great post 'Suds and everyone that scene wow just wow. It was about time, yes. I have watched this scene on u tube several times okay lots of time & it gets me everytime; I love it, it's hard to watch cane breakdown like that and I have to pause it a few times before watching that scene.
MsSuperSuds I hear you about PC3, I've thought the same thing myself from time to time but you know what Cane doesnt need "friends" like that; I was hoping they would revisit the Cane/Jt friendship remember it seemed like they were going to do sth with it but of course nothing materalized there.
Cane is rising above all the crap that has been dealt him, and over and over again showing his true self, he is not just a Good man he is one in a million. Hope to see Jill and his scenes soon, I always enjoyed their close rel/ship. Bravo DG you are amazing!

I am right there with you Eppy--Jill should adopt Cane and Katherine should adopt Jill (if that's possible ) It would be a nice, unusual twist. These people are already family and it would be good to see some ceremony in recognition of that fact

judy-bo-booty glad they're wearing you down . This past week the writing for Cane and Lily has been really be good. And for me that's the ,give them quality and they will bring it (actually they have brought it at times for me with very poor quality writing). To be honest judy as well I think we've switched places, because when Cane breaks down, I can't bear to watch it, it's too sad. I feel bad that I can't as a Lane fan, but I will have to build myself up to it.
Ultimately I'm just ecstatic for all the goodness and it's renewed my like for Y&R.
Oh yes, it would be quite possible for Katherine to adopt Jill. All that is necessary is for the two to agree. Jill's biological family is unknown so it would be an uncomplicated process. Even if Katherine's real daughter is revealed, if wouldn't be a factor if Jill and Katherine were to legalize an adoption. This would be so great!

Thank you I have it all figured out - Katherine could adopt Jill and Jill could adopt Cane all in one big ceremony, then everyone could gather at the
Colonade Room and have a big PARTY. Billy would probably get drunk and make a fool of himself....what a party!

I've been saying all along that DG is an amazing actor. Todays eppy only proves it more. His breakdown was almost more than I could stand. It had to come tho. He's so afraid he's going to lose her and he just really got her back. DG and CKH have both done an outstanding emmy caliber job. If they don't win for this there is something very, very wrong.

I don't care what he did I dislike him and wish he would go back to Australia and take Lily with him..He is not right for her and I am sick of all the attention they got this week Now she is going to have his baby. OMG!!!!!

Today's episode blew me away. I am still feeling it. This man has carried so much on his shoulders for so long. Lily is all he really has and the thought of losing her was just to much for him to handel. OMG what a scene it showed just how deep his love is for Lily and today I was glad Neil finally saw it too and knew at that moment he needed some one and call Jill. I saw that scene four times

Cane is a man of unbridled emotion. He loves deeply and when challenged - he throws punches! He is a man that is in touch with his feelings and is not shy about revealing them. He can and has been verbally abusive (think Katherine in a hospital bed). He has shown intense feelings of love and anger. In today's episode he showed another emotion...pain. He cried. Great acting and a touching scene.

Sorry you feel that way, but you are certainly entitled to your opinion.

However, Lily is not going to be having Cane's baby. That would be a little difficult being that she had a complete hysterectomy due to her cancer. They may have other plans for having children in the future, but I did not label this as a spoiler.

Cane's "pain" was felt by me today, through his seriousness, his sadness and his true tears...I wish only the best for Cane and Lily!!!

I agree. That scene definitely got me all teary eyed, and choked up inside. DG is a wonderful, talented actor.. (not to mention he's also very easy on the eyes) *)

Poor Cane, it just all came tumbling out like a tidal wave. He's been trying to be so strong for Lily, not showing the fear that she could die. Now alone, he just let it go. He really does love that girl and the thought of losing his flower Lily is too much for that big strapping guy. Love can sure crush even the strongest.

AND!!!! Today was even better - - so touching to me. The best part was Neil and Cane hugging - - FINALLY!

I truly enjoy this story line.

Grannyfan, I totally agree. I love all the posts I've read with the exception of Misschina. Cane's breakdown was powerful and heartfelt. I really felt his pain and I couldn't help myself I cried too! Cane is such a wonderful husband to Lily. He has taken excellent care of her and today was just his way of dealing with the real possibility that he could lose her. Lily is all he has, she is his world and I truly believe that he will clam up if anything were to happen to Lily. He told her as much. The epi when she left the hospital to find him, he convinced her to have the surgery because he told her that he doesn't want to be in this world if she's not in it. I felt that today when he let it all out. DG is such a wonderful actor that he is very believable in his love for Lily, you get caught up in it and almost think that it is real. Thats a mark of a gr8 actor!
