OK, I know supposedly everyone has a double, but come on-- In the past couple of years we've had Phyllis/Sheila, William/Jeff, Kay/Marge and now Patty/Dr. Peterson. I can't believe the writers keep going down this silly, worn-out path. Can't they be a little more original?

All in all the doubles you mentioned were all pretty successful storylines, though.

The least interesting, IMO, was William/Jeffery but they didn't share screen time. Jeffery had the dubious distinction of being the unmentioned twin.

Loved Kay/Marge. Patty/ Dr. Peterson still unknown.

I THINK DR.PETERSON AND PAUL SHOULD HOOKUP, THEY HAVE SO MUCH TO TALK ABOUT, ALOT MORE THAN PAUL AND NIKKI

Please don't post in all capital letters. Jade

I think Dr. Peterson is a good match for Paul intellectually BUT, and it's a big BUT, his sister Patty now has Dr. Peterson's face!

What would it be like for Paul to visit Patty by day and sleep with "Patty's face" by night?? Ick factor too big to over come.

But, my fondest wish is for Paul to get a true love and have another front burner s/l

A few other notable look-a-likes or dopplegangers:

Sugar / Sheila Carter

John Abbott / Alistair Wallingford

Carmen Mesta / Inez Vargas (her cousin)

Amber's twin, April Knight is bound to come to GC

Yeah, I knew there were a few more. Thanks for reminding me. That's at least 6 in the last 2 years or so. Way too many. And of course, add to that John's ghost, Sabrina's ghost, etc. I know this is make-believe, but these storylines get way too unreal for me....kinda like the baby-switch. Yuck! (I did like Kay/Marge, though.)

A few other ghosts:

Cassie Newman

Tom Fisher

Rex Sterling (Kay's husband that was murdered/Gina & Danny's father)

Phillip Chancellor III - once upon a time was a ghost, LOL

Yes, too many ghosts, goblins and double-trouble.

VISIONS of Characters

Sometimes the citizens of GC had visions of other characters:

Victor - presumed dead & buried kept appearing to Eve Howard

Hope - appeared to Victor in a vision during a seizure

Sheila - appeared to Lauren in a drug induced state

Cameron Kirsten - Sharon thought she killed him, haunted by him

Matt Clark - Tricia Dennison had visions of Matt Clark after he died

Katherine Chancellor - presumed dead, she haunted her husband Thurston's ex-wife, Suzanne, to scare her away

These shows are taped sometimes months in advance. So the reason why we are seeing so many doubles is because the characters were not initialy written to be on the show for a long period of time.

And contrary to what some think, I do think they read these message boards, to get a feel for how the characters are being perceived. So when they realize that people liked certain characters, or maybe even "love to hate" certain characters, they decide to find a way to keep them on.

But since the writing, as of lately, has been so over the top, they can't find ways to redeem these characters, so they have to find someway to bring them back.

William/Jeff
Patti/Dr. Peterson
Carmen Mesta/Twin Cousin -- this didn't work out though -- probably because this was around the time VR decided not to continue on the show.

It wouldn't surprise me if Brad Carlton came back as Tad or Brent when the writers realize they made a mistake letting him go.

I just remembered:

Sabrina - Victor had visions of her after she died, it was tied in with him having seizures and his grief

Watching all the other s/ls made sense to have a double.

This one makes absolutely no sense as Patty is not even related to the Dr.

What they expect people's bubble to glosss over that fact....oh well I guess everyone does have a twin somewhere...but wouldn't even Paul say somethign....like...dang you look just like my sister after she got her faced redone....

So what is Paul and Jack seeing.....cause I'm seeing Patty.

Didn't REX STERLING, RYAN McNEIL, and the killer that NINA was married to (I drawing a blank right now, the one who died in the garbage trunk dumpster incident)all come back in various forms after they died?

I do not know Amber's twin or this Sugar. How do these people have anything to do with Y&R? I've been watching for over 25 years and haven't seen them before, or must have missed them.
