Soap Opera Ratings, October 12-16, 2009

Actually, don't think producers are paying too much attention to posters/bloggers, because nothing has changed in the storylines so far, and they tape ahead of time.

And, you would think with all the people that say they don't watch and the boycotting, the ratings would have gone down, but they have not.

I love this soap and the storylines - - after all, it is just a soap, like it has always been - - sometimes good storylines, sometimes storylines that viewers don't like. It is just like watching a primetime evening show. I don't like some of the storylines, but I know I can't change them by writing or boycotting. I am thrilled to death that the ratings are starting to go up more and more.

PUDDY, the ratings did go DOWN by over 330,000 people for two weeks and then TPTB suddenly announced that TGN was leaving and people FLOODED the MESSAGE BOARDS saying they were going to watch UNTIL his last date which was supposed to be NOVEMBER 2nd. When it was ANNOUNCED that he was coming back some people were saying they thought it was ALL a publicity stunt to get back the floods of viewers that had left the previous TWO weeks they actually got some extra people back but who knows if it has/had anything to do with EB or NOT. I'm so happy for ALL of the fans of EB who were threatening to quit watching because now they don't have to & they were still happy with the show. BUT many of us aren't happy with the dark storylines and can boycott for our principles sake! I AM NOT and will continue to BOYCOTT but for you to continue to post about people that "say" they aren't watching is like you do NOT take a POSTER at their WORD! I cannot speak for anyone but myself but this is INSULTING! I can keep up with the show by reading the boards because people will tell every little thing, reading the spoilers that posters give to us, and by reading the cast list under each character which I do try to do every day. For me letting a character think that they have lost their THIRD DAUGHTER in EIGHT years in dispicable. I have lost both my mother & MIL within a period less than two months this summer and I really do NOT want to watch sadness, death, animal killings, and a character without a child that she just had. I do NOT even like the character of ASHLEY but I don't even want to think about what she will go thru! I am happy that you so are excited about the ratings and that VICTOR the character is staying bercause many people love EB and feel he is the show
but others will still BOYCOTT and continue to email regardless because it is NOT just about rating BUT PRINCIPLE!


Sorry, clic, but I have also lost both my parents in the last two years and my sister, as you know, not even a month ago. I know many feel the storylines are dark, but I look at it as a soap, and a distraction, so please forgive me if I insulted you. Many of the things that are happening on this soap, I have experienced in my own lifetime, and since I know it is not real, it doesn't get to me as much as it does to others. So sorry.

I will not post the ratings again, nor will I say that I think people are watching. I will agree that everyone that says they no longer watch - - no longer watch, and let it go at that.

I did not realize how adamant people were about the storylines, to the point that they will email, boycott the products, etc.

So, I say, good luck with your aspirations to have producers, etc., change the storylines. I hope it works for all of you so that you can continue to watch the soap that I have watched from the beginning and love it.

PUDDY, you can post all the rating that you want because that was not the point. We are "all" different and that is why that I am happy for the people that are still watching because they are ENJOYING the program, but SOME are NOT! And yes, I do know that your sister passed as I gave you my condolences but again we all are different and while many enjoy the program some do NOT. My post was to let you see that you can take people at their word, that is all. I have watched Y&R since 1974 almost the beginning and I love the soap too but I do NOT want what happened to GL to happen to Y&R! People left in DROVES because TPTB let s/l's get dark, favorite couples were broken up(REVA & JOSH), characters were made into kidnappers HOLLY & PHILLIP, and a FAN FAVORITE(since 1983 was written out in a contract dispute)! I, foolishly did NOTHING but QUIT watching . I now feel like that I should have done something to let the sponsors and network, and yes even writers know how I felt as a consumer/fan. The U.S. was found on the right to be able to PROTEST(can anyone say taxation without representation and the BOSTON TEA PARTY?) and I feel like it is my right to protest by BOYCOTTING, my own little TEA PARTY and no NOT TEABAG whole nother story there!IMO! And please PUDDY if you want to post the RATINGS do so that does NOT BOTHER ME! Just please take people for their word and of course I accept your apology and we are good! Still friends? and as I did not know about your parents I will now give my sympathy and prayers. And yes, I do know that the characters are not real!


No problem, clic - - and as I said, I wish you and everyone else who are emailing, boycotting, etc., good luck. It is your right and as you say, many times, "It makes me feel good."

As far as my "taking people for their word" that they are not watching, I cannot do that, but will stop reading the threads about people not watching anymore, and there are many of them.

Clic, the only reason I had my doubts, and it really is not relevant at this point, is because I, and others who have posted about it before, have noticed that some of the people that say they are not watching and only checking the boards have come on and described - - facial expressions, music they have heard, how somebody's hair looks, or an exact remark that someone has made, that was only on that day, etc. Some will say they only got a glimpse because they ff it, but even then, it tells you something. So, that is the ONLY reason I have my doubts and guess I got my feathers ruffled reading that, because it just, in my opinion, brings more negatives. And, that is why I very seldom post in here anymore.

Same here, all I know is that they went up. It is right there in black and white. They may have gone down a little in the two weeks before, and now they are back up, for whatever reason - - there are many reasons, but why go into all of them. They went up!

Y&R is still on top and will be for a long time to come, IMO, and if any other soap ever gets ahead of Y&R, I will be the first to offer my humble apologies for constantly saying - -KUDOS to the producers and writers for keep Y&R on top! I love my Y&R - - "for better or for worse, in sickness and in health, till death do I part!!!!"
