well, I don't know what the writers are getting at but they brought back this subject/story line for a reason. It smells like the Clear Springs debacle....jmo!

Very good point. Victor has a history of questionable business practices and look at all of the people who lost money during that debacle. Nikki lost a ton of money. I agree that there is something amiss with all of this and I believe that Michael will be the one to uncover how to recover his mother's money and probably get Victor out of trouble as well. As I have said so many times, Michael is a very smart lawyer and a very smart man. He has helped his family and he will continue to help them all. They may be screwed up as can be, but when you look at the Victor Newman and Jack Abbott and all of their dirty dealings, Michael's family look pretty okay in comparison. I like Michael for helping his family. It is better than watching Billy screw his or Adam for that matter.

LOL smells like Gloria and Jeffrey finally gonna get rich without putting in a days works as usual and what's next Ashley gonna sell them the ranch so they can fit into high society like the Abbotts, Newmans and Chancellors. LOL

Quote SLEUTH: I believe in the real world and with an attorney with morals and values it would be unethical. Like yesterday, he was chomping at the bit to call Phyllis and tell her TGVN was leaving town. I thought that was unethical. Phyllis is not his client. Phyllis should have learned the news from Nick nor Michael.

There is nothing wrong with Michael telling Phyllis, morally ethically or other wise.

The situation with Glo though is quite a different matter. Michael is on retainer by Victor and legally he cannot represent Glo, mother or not, it's a conflict of interest.

But then these writers don't do their homework and don't care. All they know is that some how they need to find a way for Glo and Jeff to be able to pay for Phyllis' place. At least until Tucker comes to town and she sets her sights on him. Yeah I know it is supoose to be between Jill and Nina, but Glo always finds a way to involve herself when talking high$$$$$

We must agree to disagree. Michael was meeting with his client, his client gave him information about his personal business and Michael ran out the door like a gossiping little witch and called Phyllis. It was really none of her business. As a professional he must put his personal friendships aside. Again, his first call should have been to the Newman heirs and not his BFF.

Being an attorney myself, we will agree to disagree. Victor left Michael in charge to tell what ever to who ever, whether it be the SEC, his children, employees, etc.. Victor did not leave instructions that he was to tell no one. Victor told Nick that Michael would be taking care of everything personal. He left Michael in charge the same as he did when he took off to Mexico.
And that is where he is going to do wrong, because of the conflict of interest and Glo.

Okay, Mr. Attorney. I will stop beating this dead horse, but let me say obviously Michael thought it was wrong because he told Phyllis to wait for Nick to tell her.

I don't especially like the fact that you were rude to me in referring to me as a MR when I'm obviously a LADY. But then you apparently must not really have any manners. Michael did not tell Phyllis to wait for Nick to tell her Michael said it would probably be best to let Nick tell her. Which could have several reasons as to why he said that. He might have just thought it was better for Nick to give her the news so he can be the one to ease her mind about taking the job, since she had expressed to Nick her reasons for not being sure. People do that sort of thing all the time. At surprised, blah, blah blah, get it.

Quote craigishot: Insider trading is a crime, no matter who told the Mustache or how he found out, he can get in trouble for taking his money out. That's a corrupt businessman.
So either him or Nick are guilty of a crime.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to notice a failing business

Nick told Victor the bank in the Cayman's wasn't doing as well as expected and "he" (meaning Nick) felt they should pull their money out before it gets worse...they collapse. Victor listened and told him to go ahead and pull the money out. Even "other" investors/clients noticed Victor pulling out his money and they followed suit. The 3 Stooges were too late

If Jill, Gloria and Jeff weren't so busy minding everybody elses business, they would have known to #1 NOT PUT ALL THEIR CASH IN ONE BANK and #2 PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR POCKETS!!!!

This is common sense and for Glo & Jeff to go to Michael AND for Michael to agree is beyond me. But, I'm sure there's a twist in their somewhere See, Michael "gets" Victor and he doesn't hate him. This is probably a way to keep an eye on Glo AND protect Victor/NE at the same time.

While Victor is gone, Michael is his eyes and ears! He won't stray from that task!!!!!

It's not a crime to take YOUR money out! Now, if he "made" money of the deal...then it's a crime.

Again, when we hear about banking institutions having trouble and you know you have a substantial amount of cash is the institution in question...if you were smart, you will take your money out and re-allocate those funds to a more secure intitution.

Never keep your proverbial "eggs" in one basket.

Quote clicquot1: HMMM! the thing is that the CAYMAN ISLANDS and the banking system there is known as a TAX-HAVEN for the very wealthy . The rich put their moneies, investment portfolios, and TAX-SHELTERS with bogus corporations there in the CAYMAN's to HIDE money from the U.S. GOVERNMENT. TGVN, JILL, and DUMB & DUMBER were "all" trying to HIDE money from the U.S. GOVERNMENT. It seems to me that TPTB were trying to shadow current events somewhat by having a bank collapse(there have been over ONE-HUNDRED collapse in the U.S. in the last year). In the U.S. many of us know that the FDIC insures depositers up to 100,000.00 and just recently I believe CONGRESS raised that to $250,000.00 which the banks in CAYMAN do NOT have their government backing federal deposits. Many of the depositors who are depositing in the CAYMAN ISLANDS are doing so because the are hiding monies or the money has come from illegal activities such as drug-running or illegal arms sales. I do find it very unusual for JILL to have all or most of her money in ONE bank because she has always been written to be an astute and savy businesswoman. DUMB & DUMBER, well that is another story altogether. TPTB may be going in another direction because PRESIDENT OBAMA has stated that he will go after people who are "hiding" money from the IRS! NICK did give TGVN some info about rumors of problems in the bank BUT even though BANKS rarely have all of the money that depositers have at the bank itself(because they are investing the cash to make more money)TGVN did cause a panic of sorts when he pulled his money out of the bank. It was his "right" to do so. I'm just not sure that the insider trading is something that the SEC(which governs the STOCK MARKET) or the FDIC(which governs U.S. banks) can do anything in this case because the bank is in the CAYMAN ISLANDS. Whatever happens it looks like to me that ALL concerned were trying to avoid paying TAXES to our governmenmt because they are/were GREEDY). as far as MICHAEL goes, it does look like a conflict of interest and I wounder if he could be disbarred. But maybe he will simply resign as TGVN's personal lawyer while ole VIC "slithers" out of town.................................

Great Post!!!! I totally agree!

It was because the bank was collapsing is the reason Victor pulled his money out. His pull-out was not the reason the bank was failing. Nick came to Victor's office with the report on the bank's situation - Victor knew nothing about it until Nick reported it. I think Victor was very smart to get his money while the gettin was good. Too bad about Heckle and Jeckle (Gloria and Jeff) losing their money - they just aren't smart enough to keep track of their financial security...they're just too busy plotting and scheming new ways to wrestle money from other folks. Hope Michael finds out the truth of the matter and bursts their litte bubble!

ICAM - The voice of reason. The Feds and SEC can't do anyhting about off shore banks and accounts. That is why they are there.
As for Michael, if he doesn't resign either in person or registered letter he could go before the bar association and yes either be disbarred (which I doubt)or reprimanded.

Insider trading has to do with stocks and securities and is a federal crime. What has this bank's financial failure to do with the stock market or insider trading. Banks don't deal in stock trades, do they? Stocks were not an issue with Victor's dealings with this bank.

Not usually in the way ours do. World banks do, but they aren't usually this type of bank. Depends on where the bank is located.

If it was a matter of just a failing business then the writers would not try to start up SL about it, because who would care about an off-shore bank failing? It does not take a rocket scientist to figure that out either A failing business is not as exciting as insider trading. How did these other investors know Victor was pulling money out? In the real world people do not discuss their finances with the public. Banks usually do not broadcast to the world that they are going under, until they are already in the dumps. So somebody is giving out information. It is common knowledge that people do offshore banking for shrewd purposes. Insider trading has been refereed to more than once regarding this bank situation, so it is not my rocket scientist degree that came up with the conclusion that somebody is committing a crime or getting themselves involved in one somehow. It also does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that even if Glo and Jeff were doing nothing at all and completely minding their own business they would still not know how to manage their finances...or lack of.
