Are you talking about Gloria?

Quote YR15yrs+: I remember a time about 10-12 years ago when Phyllis' character was one that fans couldnt get enough of. She was always keeping us guessing and her storylines were always something worth watching...Lately the writers are having Phyllis follow Nick around like a little puppy dog. What happened to the fun, exciting, spontaneous devil that used to roam Genoa City sneaking into DNA labs and leaving snakes in peoples beds? I miss her and think her character has turned into a snoozefest. Phyllis has so much potential!! Anyone agree?!?!

Phyllis was only supppose to be on the show for one storyline. But Bill Bell was so impressed he wrote the character in a a regular. The writers did something they do for characters they really care about. They made her very intelligent, then they gave her skills and ambition, then they started to slowly show her grow. People don't change overnight, so she still made mistakes but slowly over the years she has grown and changed. They have also shown her raising very steadily up the corporate ladder. From webmaster and internet guru, to corporate executive to co-founder and co-ceo of two multi-million dollar companies. Phyllis is a fiercely loving and devoted wife and mother.
Michael and other characters have also been nurtured and grown.

But I can think of at least one character who is just as stupid, useless, weak and destructive to herself and others around her as she was the first day she arrived in GC.

Michael and others have also paid dearly for the serious crimes they commmited, which made them redeemable. That can not be said for Phyllis, hence why she's still so vile to some. But I think "intelligence" is in the eye of the individual viewer...intelligence is not one of the adjectives to describe a weak, man-obsessed woman like Phyllis.

Quote Soulsistah: The writers have TRIED to redeem her. But look around this board, or even the wider internet MBs. Phyllis is still one of the most hated characters - because of who she was created to be - a villain - and continues to win the Biggest Hypocrite game, time and time again here. They've tried and failed because Phyllis never, ever has paid for so many of the vile things she has done. Until that happens, she will never be redeemed in the eyes of the majority who know her full history.

As for sleeping with Nick when he was Sharon's husband, yes, it takes two to tango. And Sharon has slept with Nick since he's been Phyllis husband. Both wrong? Yes. But I don't recall Sharon ever, ever rubbing Phyllis' face in it or going out of her way to be cruel, malacious and vinidictive against Phyllis the way Phyllis has ALWAYS been nto Sharon - even after she was married to Nick and had his(Jack's) daugther. There was NO excuse for Phyllis' demented and vicious treatment of Sharon after she "got" Nick, so that just puts Phyllis, IMO, in a sicko category well above anyone else's. She'll always be a vile character and now, with Nick, she's just a boring, hateful character.

You said it all Soul! Phyllis is calm right now because she has what SHE wants. It wasn't that long ago that she was going bonkers in Sharon's hotel room, cutting up her lingerie.Look at how quickly she slapped Jack, Heather and Deacon. It's just simmering beneath the surface right now. It's just a matter of time. No one, not EVEN Phyllis has the right to lay hands on another.

And yet she gets away with it. Problem is, Phyllis is the one who needs to be slapped into next week by quite a few characters on the show - she deserves it more than anyone right now, next to Adam.

I think phyliss slapping deacon was right i would have done the same thing if i were her she fights for what she wants and has done some horrible things in her past but is still a great part of the show.

One of these days she WILL slap the wrong person. She will either be arrested or get her lights knocked out. I hope the latter rather than the former. That would be worth the price of admission to me!

I don't know it depends.

I hated Phyllis when she first came on cause she messed up Danny and Cricket.

Phyllis was out there and I always felt bad for POOR JOANIE she had to deal with the brunt of everything.

But Phyllis was exciting to watch because I didn't know what she was going to do next.

I was always hating her. Then she came back and her relationship with Jack started. I hated when she helped Brittany ruin Mac and Billy. So that was strike two against her for messing up another one of my favorite couples.

But I still watched her. I loved her Jack together.

Then she got with Nick and well I think everyone knows how I feel about that.

I just think Phyllis needs a juicier s/l.

Amen amen amen!Preach it Sistah.
I have extended family and friends and not one of them have ever liked this character. Not one.The writers redeeming this character has failed miserably.Too many vile things she has done.I hated her long before she got together with Nick.I have hated her since day one.Who cares if her ship has sunk or sailed.Put her with Adam.I fast forward her scenes.I'm just not that much in to her.

Quote CARMEN JONES: She has changed because of true love!!!!

i don't agree that she changed because of true love look how many times she went ahead and did what she wanted to regardless of how many people got hurt or he consequences If it was really true love the question why is she so insecure when nick talks to sharon because she know deep down it is lust not love nick's heart is and always will be with sharon and phylis knows it she may think sh eloves nick and maybe sh edoes in a way but all we have seen is her telling nick wha tto do and very seldom supports him in hi sdecisions. it is all about what phylis wants.

Was there something wrong with sheagirl's post and Sunnyflower's post and my response to her?
I don't understand.

Editing: Never mind - - IMHO, the ship is still docked.

Great Post, as usual, shea.

As far as her ship sailing and her being a "snoozefest", will somebody wake me up when she will no longer be on Y&R, would really appreciate that.

Her tenure on the Y&R really has nothing to do with whether fans find Phyllis - the subject of the thread - to be a snoozefest or not. Apparently, to a lot of people she certainly is.

Sorry, I just love the actress and love how she portrays her character on this "soap." Was just expressing my opinion on whether or not, the subject of this thread, her ship has sailed!

Yes, to answer your original post, YR15, I agree with you completely - - and definitely yes - - I think she has potential.

I agree with you. There is nothing exciting about this character unless you like people who commits crimes and gets away with it......

I have never liked the Phyllis character so it doesn't matter to me whether she is the old evil Phyllis or the new and improved Stepford Wife Phyllis.I really could not care
less what she does as long as she stays away from Sharon.

You so took the words right out of my mouth! lol
But I will say the writers have tried to turn Phyllis around to better mold her into Nicky's life.
Oh well!!! So long she is out of Sharons face, they could turn her into Lauren for all I care!
