Quote flygirl1969: I think that if one tends to be an EB fan they will interpret the story one way and other that are not fans or just neutral will see things perhaps a different way. I think that he never had any intention of leaving and wanted to see how far Sony would go and whether they would back down. What else is he going to say other than it was never about the money? Is he really going to say, "I think I am worth more than 1million dollars?" He is a business man and of course he and his agent would want to make sure he gets the best deal possible. I am glad that his fans are happy and while I am not a Victor fan I do admit that his story as Newman family leader and rival of Jack Abbot does need to be told.

Why wouldn't he? Did the cast of Friends have any problems telling NBC that they were each worth 1 million an episode? No, so why would he?

My point is that he has no reason to lie, because even if he felt he was worth more than they were paying him, most people wouldn't hold that against him, especially since he voluntarily took a pay cut a few years back.

And there has been nothing to suggest that anything that EB stated to the media has been anything less than truthful. So I guess I'm confused because your negative opinion of EB is based off of.....well nothing it seems.

At least nothing that you've stated in this thread.

If you are interested in another take on the story I suggest you read Josef Adalian's article "Showdown in Genoa City Rocks the Soap World" That is one of the article that leads me to think a little differently. We like the actors that we like and that is all good. All I am saying is that I have a differing view of the situation. I think that my opinion is just as valid as that of anyone. You are an EB supporter and I can respect that. All I am saying is that every story has two sides.

Isn't The Wrap (the artice's source), an online tabloid? It's definitely no Newsweek or Time magazine. LOL! The article wasn't very detailed and it gave "unnamed sources" for some of it's info.

And I am not an EB fan, but I am a supporter of people who stand up for themselves.

And yes there are two sides to every story, but I'd put my money on the actor's version over the TV executives in Hollywood anyday.

Hollywood is cutthroat, and times are tough, so if an actor, especially one known to take pay voluntarily cuts, speaks out about him getting the shaft from an industry that is known to chew up actors and spit them out, I tend to believe the actor.

Wow!! I could not agree with you more. EB is by far the finest actor on daytime TV. Y&R would have sunk in the ratings and lost lots of fans. And, that just does not include us "plain folks". Lots of athletes, particularly baseball players, love to watch Y&R and count EB as their favorite character. They love his ruthless, don't-give-a-darn, attitude. If I recall correctly, players from the Milwaukee Brewers made a cameo on the show a while back. Also, a former SF Giants player had a small scene with his mom on the program. Yes, TGVN would have left a huge void in Y&R. Thank goodness, he has signed on for another three years!
