yes it was all about respect ! Respect he deserves & alla ctors do that put 110% into there job! After 30yrs to do taht to a person is rude & Disrespectful!
I applaud Eric for what he did for the industry & his fellow actors!

Yes respect is the key. All actors and individuals as a whole should be treated with respect.

Respectfully - - WHATEVER! He's back and that is all I care about. Whatever different interviews or videos, etc., matters not to me. I am just happy he is back as are most people!

GO EB!!!

YOU KNOW WHAT? Sorry. At first I didn't believe it, on every show they do this, then when I read, in Eric's own words, supposedly that he pulled the plug because they refused to negotiate. Then I thought, guess he's really leaving. I have never read anything Eric Braden has said so I couldn't say he didn't say that, but I did think he sounded like Victor, so I think this whole thing was a fake that he quit. IMO

You are confusing me here - - you said you read, in Eric's own words, but are saying you have not read anything EB has said - - what did you read? Just curious, because I thought his interview stated clearly what was going on.

Oh well - - HEEEEEEESSSSS BAAAAACK!

I believe it's a publicity stunt plain and simple. It serves two purposes. One it gets old viewers back to the fold. They start watching again before "Victor" leaves. Hopefully, they will remain once they get "hooked" on the s/ls again.
Second. I didn't for one minute think that Sony ever sent him an e-mail about his contract. Contract issues go thru agents not directly to the actor. Eric would never have been involved with the haggling over money especially with a group of people. It's not how it's done. I know because my daughter was a model for a few years and tried acting in soaps. The only time she got to see the "money" was when she signed the paperwork.

I totally agree.. with previous Poster.. but EB better watch out.. when a company is forced into keeping them, it is very easy to put THEIR story line on back burner for weeks and weeks... and slowly write him out... that's how it's done in the corporate world.. NO ONE IS IN-DISPENSABLE!!! If Tucker becomes the new Power House.. EB will be in big trouble, if he does not cooperate. The story will always be written that TGVN... will just be VN... then merely Victor.....then...... slowly...... out...

It was a negotiation tactic. He was serious that he was out if they would not work with him on what he wanted. He was willing to leave if they decided to be a bunch of a$$es. He NEVER said he was definitely out for good. I stated before that they would get him back. They know who they can and can't lose. He is the only character on the show that has connections with almost every single person.

Here are how major negotiation like this go: The show says we won't budge because we are cutting back on our budget no matter who you are.
The star of the show comes back with a statement saying they are leaving because they are fed up with having to deal with this.
The show decides they have the publicity so now they will try to smooth things over.
The actor is still pissed off and stands their ground.
The show rolls over and sucks up beyond belief.
The actor acts like they are still unhappy but accept.
and all is well!

Quote flygirl1969: I never believed that EB was really going to leave his job of almost 30 years. This was really clear for me when his salary and his proposed salary reduction were made public. He was paid 1.5 million and now will make 1million. He is still the highest paid actor on the show. I think it was a little "Victor Newman, do you know who I am" moment. Any thoughts?

I think when Sony became aware of the protests of EB leaving the show they might have decided to renogotiate with EB to get him back and thus not lose viewers. Just speculating.

Maybe yes and maybe no. Eric is quoted at being amazed at how many loyal fans he has and that the loyalty is what brought him back to the table.

I believe that once Eric B. made his statement about leaving, Sony and whoever were backed into a corner. They had to "shoot" or get off the pot!! Of course Erik does not want to leave this show, didn't he just turn 68? Victor is a great character, there is nobody who could replace Eric as Victor. That would have ruined the show. But, I do believe the show would have gone on without Victor. Also, when you do have all of these "reality" stars, that make all this money for what?? Being idiots!!!

Well put sasusan. I can't fathom the interest in reality shows myself. I know soaps are not real but the crap that passes for reality is totally beyond belief. It shows the worst of people.

I'm just glad that EB is back.

But Oreo, you have to admit that it was convienent timing that EB re-signs at the last minute. And its funny how all of this went down similar to the MTS debocle a few months ago. I think its all a ploy to get people back to watching a genre that has declining ratings across the board.
