I never believed that EB was really going to leave his job of almost 30 years. This was really clear for me when his salary and his proposed salary reduction were made public. He was paid 1.5 million and now will make 1million. He is still the highest paid actor on the show. I think it was a little "Victor Newman, do you know who I am" moment. Any thoughts?

I am so tired of these actors blustering and claiming they're out to only at the 11th hour somehow miraculously have a change of heart and reach an agreement. I like these actors but all this crap of I'm going, they don't treat me right, blah, blah, blah is getting old. ____ or get off the pot from the start is what I say. Don't spend time upsetting your loyal fans, knowing in the long run that you're going to stay, geez

Me too. I don't think that he would have made such headlines if he was bluffing. I believe it was more how he was treated more than anything. Either way, I am glad he is here. Y&R wouldn't be the same without him.

Of course he was really leaving! Read his interview. And, frankly, I don't care what he makes. Many, many actors make much more than that. He deserves every penny. Acting in a soap is not that easy and he has kept it up all these years. In my opinion, I don't care what anybody thinks - - he is a fantastic actor, has been part of Y&R long enough to upset so many people when they thought he may have to leave, and I AM HAPPY AS A LARK HE IS BACK!

Truthfully I think it was a combination of both Lets face it the s/l they have been shoving down our eyes has been horrible, also the material that we love rant & rave is now utterly nonsense. A lot of viewers wat EB I am a fan of his, so when I see what they have reduced all of the characters to do it is kind of bad. Also ratings who ever took over this soap cant seem to get their audience entertained fully. EB brings quite a bit to the table whether you love or hate him, so yes I think he may have planned on leaving still may but at least maybe they will let him go out with some dignity

I figured he would be back, & that this was all a publicity thing to see how the viewers would react. I don't know, but it just seems like it. Either way, I'm so glad he is staying!

I'm with you on this one puddycat! I think he was dead serious. CBS and Sony were more than likely deluged with angry emails and calls. I am writing to them to thank them for finally smartening up.

I'm not so sure about the emails because Eric didn't want to leave and I think they thought he would back down on the contract deal. He never cared about the pay cut and has made himself quite clear about that. He did not like the fact that they did not honor his current contract and tried to cut his pay before the contract was over. Now, that he has a new contract for three years, and apparently has attorneys working on it with him, they won't be able to do that again. He was mainly upset with the contract, not the money. I truly believe that since he did not back down, they went to him to renegotiate.

It did not take angry fans for them to already know what a value he is to this soap, although I am sure it helped to reassure them what a mistake they would be making!

That is why my feathers get ruffled when people keep making remarks about "it was all the money, etc." He was one of the FIRST to take a pay cut. They obviously have not read his interview.

It was NEVER about the money with EB, it was about respect. Now I hope MTS' problems are over as well.

I never knew if that was just another rumor or not - - about more contract problems with her - - didn't actually read it anywhere else but with the "spumors."

I am really really trying not to lean that way to, but after the whole "ballon boy" debaucle, and the jon and kate crap, I can't help but also wonder if this was a publicity stunt. And before you go there Oreo and Puddy ; I did read the articles and followed the stories I just am jaded right now about believing what I read, lol
