The Young and the Restless - MESSAGE BOARDS

As everyone has heard Victor(EB) has been written off the show. According to another Soap website, now they are writing off both Victor(EB) & Nikki(MTS). They are apparently suppose to go on vacation and Nikki is suppose to return a short time after that. Y&R isn't sure if either of them will be returning back after they are written off. They are still under contract, so they can still come back. So I am keeping my fingers crossed that they both return.

Extra: They are suppose to bring in Tucker, who is a 50 yr. old billionaire. They say he isn't suppose to replace Victor, but it sure sounds like it, IMO!

I wonder if MTS is coming back. I think she signed a shorter contract to see what EB would do. I guess we shall see.

I was thinking the other day about all the recent s/ls with the Y&R, the actors who have left, whose come back and where everything has been filmed. Has no one thought it odd that we no longer see our characters at Jabot or Newman headquarters? Or that all the s/ls seem to center around outside locations? When our company downside recently one of the things they did was off load buildings and then rented space elsewhere. It was more cost effective to rent then maintain our own buildings. I'm wondering if this is what has happened with the show. They've kept the coffee shop, the ranch, the Chancellor mansion because they aren't as easily converted to other sets. Were as the boardrooms could be any set for almost any show.
Same goes for the actors. It is cheaper to pay part-time help then full-time. You don't have to worry about all the extras that come with the full-time contracts if you just hire part-time and only have them on once in awhile. Maybe that is why we are seeing Traci, Steve, Nina, Phillip come back while the major players are leaving.
After the GL went off the air there was a big news story about how the soap operas are having a really hard time staying afloat. They are not getting sponsorship or viewers like they did in the past. I know many will say it's the s/ls being played out but this was happening long before Adam ever came on the scene so we can't blame it on that particular s/l. It's a fact that soap operas may just be a thing of the past.
