The Young and the Restless - MESSAGE BOARDS

Y&R writers are just not getting it at all. We used prior to LML be able to enjoy this show for one hour a day. A time we spent in our own fantasy world. We like or disliked s/ls but all were at least some kind of reality. Then things changed radically into lust, sex, deceit, lies and more lies. Grief being taking advantage of for the purpose of vulgarity that suit certain characters. Characters who are supposed to be representative of justice committing arsonalds to protect their criminal kins, etc. etc. etc. To top all of this insanity a person who inherited his mother's blindness turning into a monsterous freak......if this is good writing hummmmm.......not in my view. The departure of John, Brad and Colleen who have been part of this story for so long and now the possibility of Victor (although one of the least of my favorite) leaving.....well how is this not to be critisized


I've not been viewing since beginning of May, but do read the story on boards and I'm very disgusted with it all....

I've been watching Y/R since the mid 80's..and with the shoddy writing taking place now I doubt I'll continue. They insult our intelligence over and over..that's not what I signed up for. With the outpouring of anger I'm witnessing from the true fan base here I think the writers better give their heads a shake and get with it. They MUST remember the viewers are not brain dead and won't stand for brain dead WRITING!

Do the producers of Y/R ever read the rumblings of their fan base? Do they ever take the time to see how the viewers are reacting? If they want the money they should pay attention.

the only word i can think of that is pg enough for the board is CRUEL. the wring is soo cruel and just not enjoyable to watch. you know , im all for drama on a soap i mean that what its for but.... i don't want to watch Sharon suffer as much as she has. i don't want to watch colleen die and the Abbott go though it. i don't want to watch lily have to deal with cancer at the age of 21 !!
all the suffering needs to end.

it would be one thing it it was all well written.. but it not at all! and we alll know how the writers like to dragg a s/l out so we will be dealing with this for month

I think these writers are laughing their heads off seeing just how ridiculous the storylines can get and how long we fools will keep watching.They probabaly have a office pool going to see who can write the darkest most outlandish story line.

Please turn around this crap with Ashley/Adam/Sharon baby. I cannot believe this storyline is coming to a baby swapping mess. I refuse to watch...Let this end...

A very experienced actor from another soap that was canceled recently said on the subject of soaps. If you change the essence of a show and the essence and character of any one of it's characters to the point the fans don't recognise the character anymore . They will voice their opinion in more ways than just with their mouths. They will eventually tune out and then the show will be tuned out for good.
Several of the characters on this show have been changed in some degrees that they are no longer the characters we have come to love, hate, or love to hate. I think most of you know of which characters I'm speaking of.
When a show changes as much as this one has over the past few years and gets snubed by the emmys that says alot also.

Wow. I'm glad to know I'm not alone. I too just joined this board today so that I could also voice my frustration over the direction of the storylines. It used to be understood that there would be one "miserable" storyline going, but at least at the same time, there would be corporate intrique, romance, and stories about family relationships. But between stealing children, nonexistant children, killing off veterans --which continues despite our anger -- I've just about had enough. I've been watching with my mom since I was a little girl, and this is the first time I'm ready to turn the tv off. How sad.

I have watched Y&R since the first episode. Back then William Bell and his writing team were excellent writers who knew how to script a good story. The storylines had meaning and they were more realistic..These writers have destroyed Mr Bell's greatest work, Y&R...I am no longer watching Y&R after the killing off of Colleen, and now the most ridiculious storyline ever in the history of Y&R, Adam/Ashley/Sharon/Dr Taylor babynapping...That's it for me..This show is on the road to cancellation....

Adam and the baby switch, how can the writers see this as creative. Can't Ashley tell that she didn't give birth. She has no sign of a woman giving birth to me. I know these writers are getting paid well and this is the best they can do. The baby switch is a bad idea and if you all keep going down this unreal thoughts for your viewers I smell the show being cancel.
