Quote question1: Not only are the s/l's unbelievable, but the writers broke the cardinal rule of writing...Consider your audience. The main audience is women. Yes, there are some men that watch it, too, but a larger portion is women. Stealing a new mother's baby is too horrible to consider for most women. They've made it worse by having the deed done by a character most people detest and having it done to someone the writers have been portraying as a sympathetic character. And as a rule, crimes against children do not set well with anyone. Depriving a mother/child of the important bonding time after birth is irretrievable and most of the audience knows that. That doesn't even address the painfully substandard writing in how this occurred.

You can almost count on the child being returned to Sharon during sweeps week in November. I'm pretty sure that's the entire point of this ridiculous s/l. I, for one, will not watch it now or then. I refuse to reward the writers with good ratings for doing this poor of a job. I'd rather the ratings tank during sweeps week because the writers don't deserve attention or reward for this s/l. Maybe next time, they will remember who the audience is and how they'll react to certain acts. And, even if they return the baby at this point, there are still nothing but gloomy s/l's and none with resolution.

I totally agree. Even if/when Sharon gets her baby back, the writers should not be thanked or praised, since they should never have created that storyline (or any of the other ridiculous s/l's currently running) in the first place. BOYCOTT THE SWEEPS!!!

This story line has gone too far now! Adam needs to get what's coming to him. Taking Sharon's baby and giving it to Ashley is going too far. Sharon has suffered so much and now this...please! I have watched Y&R from the very first episode back in March 1973. The last few months have made me think of not watching anymore. This just might do it for me!

ITA, Well said. Also It looks like the writters hate women. The way they are portraying these two women is sickening. I can not support this either and will stop watching for now.

Absolutely stupid now, ..after Ashley lost her baby months ago, she would not be a pregnant looking as she was...and now a baby switch..when Sharon has been going to appointments and getting ultra sounds and being told she only had a deformed fetus. and Adam, blind as a bat and was able to deliver a pretend baby and clean up...give me a break...and the doctor taylor like superman always there when you need him..are you kidding me...cannot believe how poor the writing is, I used to watch most soaps, but stopped and only watched Y and R because all the others were getting so stupid....well I am thinking it is time to turn off Y and R. Get better writers or at least a better story line...ARGH!!!!!!

Ok, I'm a newbie here...i've been watching Y&R for a long time though and I am very shocked at how the writers think that us viewers would buy this storyline. For one, how did Sharon get to the hospital? I assume an ambulance? Wouldn't the paramedics have asked Dr Taylor where the fetus was? Thats not really something that you would forget about....and Ashley...she's had a baby before...would she not be sore and know that she hadn't, in fact, given birth? I always thought that Y&R had pretty credible s/l (as credible as a s/l can be anyway) but this is just ridiculous. I feel as if the writers aren't giving the viewers any credit at all. There are loose ends that need to be tied up and maybe if they were, things would seem a little more realistic.

My friends and I have decided not to watch or read updates on Y&R. This story line about the baby switch has push me over the edge. Y&R needs to find some new writers the switch baby story line is on every other soap and is really old. And you wonder why you didnt win Emmys. We are totally pissed off and will not watch this show any more

So I like your post. Anyone who as been through labour (c'mon all you ladies)knows that you are sore down there and bleed for 3 -6 weeks afterward. And don't forget the wonderful experience of those mesh underwear they give you at the hospital. So unrealistic that Ashley would not know!!!

I totally agree! this Baby switch sceme is terrible, and I can't believe the writters would come up with such a scandle! The story line of the Y&R use to be realistic and base on real life issues in the past. I dont know what the writters are doing now, but I personally don't like it. I mean come on, who will switch a baby like that; and how can a women (Ashley) not know whether or not she has had a baby! This is nonsense!

I agree, this is to stupid to be real. If Adam isn't exposed soon I will no longer be watching The Young and Restless. What are the writers thinking???? Adam has gotten away with too much for too long. This is it for me!!!!!
Sharon and Nick need to find out their baby is alive and they need to be reunited and out with Phyllis.

You know I love this show but since the baby switch my heart just is not in it anymore ! Most or all of the storylines are just stupid and to unrealistic and so i'm not watching just because it breaks my heart to see this. I figure it feels like the people on the life boats who watched the titanic sink ! I stopped watching whenever Beth Maitland left ! LOVED HER !

After reading the Nov. sweeps...I saw no mention of ..the baby story line..I was hoping ..the writers would soon settle this.So there fore..Nov. will be as dull and boring as the last several years...The writers must have been raised by Norman Bates mother, at the Bates motel and house on the hill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Frankly, I haven`t watched Y@R for awhile ,altho, I frequently check these boards, and, I see that I haven`t missed a thing... HIRE..new writers...Y@R IS A SINKING SHIP...
