The suspension of disbelief is astounding in this storyline.
None of it is realistic.
If you have ever visited anyone on a psych ward you well know that it is a lock down situation where everybody goes through screening. You have to be on a list to get in even. Now once there, you are checked on constantly by the tech's and you see a psych doc at least once a day. Plus your vitals etc are taken.
If Ashley or Sharon had gone into 'real' labor..the whole floor would have known about it...there would have been no way to hide the screaming of a woman in labor much less 2 women in labor.
The other thing is, this whole baby switch is morally reprehensible. Women on Psych wards would have been taken to the maternity ward to have a baby. There would also be evidence on both women that they had had children.
Where will the babies body from (Ashley) Sharon who they will say died? A full term baby is not 'disposed of' it is given to a mortuary for a funeral with the family...given a name etc.
Shame on the writers for this disgusting, illogical, badly thought out story line.
Women go through these kinds of things daily in America and those women who have been through it (a baby dying) or being on a psych ward would know what is true or not.
THIS is not based on any sense of reality.

And to boot, did you all notice how suddenly now Adam can see his way around..Saw Ashley well enough to hand her pills to put her out, saw the doctor come out with the baby and grabbed it..He is walking around like a sighted person..oh miracles of miracles..
sigh

I agree. I guess this is the last day I will watch Y&R. To bad because I already cut B&B aloose 1 year ago. Get new writers or Y&R will loose a lot of viewers. Come on isn't there a after birth check of ash and the baby. Won't the exam show she didn't have a baby or have the writers decided not to have her checked by a hospital doctor. This story likne is stupid. Every soap has done this and attempted to do this. R.I.P. Y and R

I have never heard of a mental hospital having a maternity wing. They are not set up to deliver babies and very few pregnant women except the most extreme mentally ill are sent there. Most pregnant mental patients are sent to out patient evaluation centers.Ashley and Sharon at the first sign of labor would have been immediately transferred to the hospitals where their doctors are on staff.Their doctors would have been alerted and they would have had them sent by ambulance to the hospital where they were to give birth. This story is so insulting to all the viewers even for a soap.

Quote lightandday:
Quote pj hansen: I do not understand, if she really is not preg. Why does she have such a big baby bump. maybe she had twins and only lost one baby. just a thought

I tell ya what PJ, if/when she takes Sharon Baby home and a few days later she goes into real Labor in front of her Family members, that will be something because Now Ash have to ask who baby she's got, Plus Sharon Baby is a Preemie this could cause complications also bring forth Faith's True Identity (But your Theory and Mine is too Realistic). So I doubt if it happens this way.

Quote moosika: The more messed up the characters are, the more I like them. After the baby switch, Sharon should become my favorite. She will be completely off her rocker.

Quote Obsessed with soaps: Both Sharon and Ashley are too emotionaly weak to endure the long drawn out suffering involved in theis s/l. What are the writers trying to do, put off a lot of viewers? I just dont think I can watch either one of these women suffer anymore than they have already..... Both are really nice women, who don't deserve to have this Freak play with their lives to such a horrible extent!! What more is Adam gonna get away with??? This makes no sense !! Enough already, Stop this Fool This is worse than the Fab4, Glo and Jeff stupid stuff , and all the laws they break.... Just venting here>>> Hating this S/l....

Not only are the s/l's unbelievable, but the writers broke the cardinal rule of writing...Consider your audience. The main audience is women. Yes, there are some men that watch it, too, but a larger portion is women. Stealing a new mother's baby is too horrible to consider for most women. They've made it worse by having the deed done by a character most people detest and having it done to someone the writers have been portraying as a sympathetic character. And as a rule, crimes against children do not set well with anyone. Depriving a mother/child of the important bonding time after birth is irretrievable and most of the audience knows that. That doesn't even address the painfully substandard writing in how this occurred.

You can almost count on the child being returned to Sharon during sweeps week in November. I'm pretty sure that's the entire point of this ridiculous s/l. I, for one, will not watch it now or then. I refuse to reward the writers with good ratings for doing this poor of a job. I'd rather the ratings tank during sweeps week because the writers don't deserve attention or reward for this s/l. Maybe next time, they will remember who the audience is and how they'll react to certain acts. And, even if they return the baby at this point, there are still nothing but gloomy s/l's and none with resolution.

New at this, but a watcher for 32 yrs. and this is one of the most disturbing S/L I've watched. Todays show, both Ashley and Sharon think or did have a little girl, one thinking her x is delivering, and the other Adam, the devil I feel for Sharon, after losing Cassey, she has never been the same, and now another little girl, this should/will push her over the edge, Ashely finally relizes that Victor was more into getting back at Jack, and has again effected serval lives, and is leaving him "hopefully" then losing this baby wouldn't be so devasting to her. Please do not get me wrong, any time a child is lost at cb, it is never repairable. I also hate this S/L

I agree... I was shocked... Sharon has suffered the loss of one child and the loss of her husband y put her thru this again? Is the sorrow meant to bring her and Nick bak togeteher? But @ the same time Adam has gotten off with these things for too long this is just getting ridiculous and too drawn out for me reminding me of Passions which I absolutely hate for they take so long to resolve all their conflicts.
